Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

We chose Roto Rooter because it was a household name, but mostly because of their flexibility when it came to scheduling an appointment.  They were available any day of the week and any time you need them. The plumber  actually came earlier than I expected, which was fine because he called me first to make sure it was ok to come early. I hate waiting all day anyway. He was here for  about 30 min or so to snake the drain in the sink. Once he did that, both tub and sink drains were fine. I guess they were on the same line.
Over all I was happy with the results, his candor and timeliness...just not the large price tag. I'm a first time home buyer, and we had not been in the house more than a few weeks, so I didn't expect having one drain snaked would cost so much. I have to admit...I don't think we will be using them again. The final price after the $20 coupon was applied, was $318 to snake one bathroom sink drain in less than 30 min.I would have hated to see the price if he snaked more than one drain.                                                                                                                                                                                       Mrs. Hochworter                                                                                                                                                                                   

Showed up on time. Explained what he was going to do and options for job cost. Did the work and cleaned up.

The response to my web site request for service was prompt -- actually a bit too prompt. I said in my request that it wasn't urgent. I submitted my request Thursday evening. On Friday morning around 8 am, I received a call that the technician was on his way. The problem is that this is a rental house I own (not my residence), so I wasn't there. A second problem is that the first major snowstorm of the winter was happening at that point in time, and it was rush hour to boot. So it was a stressful drive to try to get to the house by the time the technician did (I barely made it). I would have preferred to be asked what a convenient time was before sending someone over, especially since I had stated that this wasn't an urgent problem.

The technician himself was very cordial, and explained exactly what he was doing and why he was doing it (and how much it would cost). He isolated the problem to one drain line beneath the basement floor, and rooted it out.

The drainage issue was relieved, but only temporarily. It plugged up again within a week; the technician came back, speculated on the cause of the re-occurrence (the explanation made sense). He said he would have someone from the office call me to set up an appt to discuss options from that point.

The person came, explained the options of basically digging up the basement floor, for a high cost. I declined to do that. The tenants are OK with the situation, which is kept in check.

I was quoted a flat rate, which was very high, over $300, but after letting the tech know that it was too high and that I would rent the snake and have someone do it, he was able to "miraculously" cut the price in half  (So don't accept the first price) it's the slow season for them now and you may be able to get a better price also.  The tech was very courteous and professional, he did a good, clean job and was done in less than an hour.

The plumber was very prompt and did excellent work, using unions rather than just soldering the pipes together.  He removed the old water heater and you never would have known he was there other than the nice new water heater.

The service was excellent.  They were quick and they didn't give up until the problem was solved.  Some other people gave rough estimates, and I thought their price was right on target with everyone else.

Went great.  The technician arrived within 20 minutes of my call for help.  He was very professional and took care not to let my cat out.  Did the estimate before proceeding and made sure to ask for my coupon *before* he did the invoice, which was super cool. 

The problem was fixed within less than a half-hour of arrival.  It's a huge relief to have my sink draining properly.  I am just so thrilled to get back to doing dishes again.

It was a bit pricey, but hey, plumbers don't come cheap.  They did show up almost immediately, which was amazing, and the stuff stuck in my drain --  old, rotted raw cat food -- was beyond nasty, I'm sure.

They were fantastic. They were the only ones who could have done this job as they had the proper equipment. They arrived very quickly and they knew exactly what the problem was. They also offered a six month guarantee for the job so if I have a problem in the next six months they will come and fix it for free. They were a little expensive but I understand why they were so expensive.

They did a great job and they were very fast. They were able to get my drains unclogged. They came right out. They did a great job and they got it taken care of. They also gave us options on doing things in the future as well so they were very good.

Very well they reponded quickly the evening we discovered it was clogged and cleaning it out.

My initial call to Roto-Rooter was answered with a same day visit. The Roto-Rooter personnel that supported me were Joe, who did the initial cabling, Chris, who did an initial assessment of the excavation required, and Derrick, who dug the hole and laid the additional pipe. Each individual was very professional and pleasant. Joe and Derrick performed the work on very hot and humid days. Derrick worked with me to minimize the disruption to my property. I appreciated the prompt handling of my problem and would recommend Roto-Rooter to others.

Joe was great. He explained everything and provided us with a detailed estimate.. He was very knowledgeable and pleasant. A totally professional job all the way..

It went very well-the drain was cleaned out over about an hour and he found out what the problem was. Most of the flood went back down the drain. He gave me advice about how to clean up the rest of the floor(hose and bleach) and some root killer to put down the drain also, as this was part of the issue. The final price was exactly as quoted.

My experience with them was that they were way overpriced. The work they did was so much shoddy and the replacement parts that they have put in have since worn out. They had to be replaced in less than 3 years and it was ridiculous. It was a poor job.

The sink in the laundry room backed up with water from the washing machine. It overflowed (quite the flood). I tried to take apart the pipes but some were plastic and they are glued so they broke. Called roto-rooter on Monday, they set up an appointment for Tuesday and they came and fixed the problem.

They came when they were supposed to come and got the job done quickly. The bathroom sink was clogged up but they checked the entire line which was not necessary. They charged me a lot of money as they did work that was not required.

Worked with Joe. It took him 3 1/2 hours to do the job. He spent extra time teaching me soldering techniques. He even installed extra piping for free so that I could install an external hose spigot.

After getting my okay, Dan brought the 300 pound snake into the basement and quickly reamed out many roots. When he was finished, he placed the roots into a garbage bag for me, and suggested how I should clean up the basement floor. I placed the original call at 7:30 am, and was into work by 11:00 am.

Overall, I was very happy with the work. They were able to come within the hour (sooner than anyone else I called), and the work took only about half an hour. The man who did the work was courteous and explained what he thought the problem was so we could avoid it again. I thought the price was high, but it was similar to other quotes, so I think it was fair. They did not charge extra for coming on a weekend evening.

They came right away and did a good job. However, they are expensive.

Roto Rooter did a great job. I was very pleased with them overall. The only thing I was upset about was the price for the work they did.

We woke up one morning to a clogged bathroom drain. We called Roto-Rooter and they got here within two hours and got it unclogged fairly quickly. They explained everything they did and gave us a six-month guarantee. It was very good service.

There was nothing negative about the experience with Roto-Rooter. I would say that the workers were friendly and professional. I am glad that he explained why we had the problem. This way, hopefully, I can prevent future problems.
