Dan Fulmer Construction

The two guys who did the job communicated really well with what they were doing; if they would be showing up on Saturday or if they had to leave early. We were never like, "Where are they?" or "Are they showing up today?", that kind of thing. That was one thing.

The two of them worked really well together. They each had their pieces that they did. The guy who did the trim, in particular, was really a fine craftsman. He kind of folded it and made it look nice. Those were the high points. They were great. We had no complaints whatsoever about them.

An unbelievable and awful experience. My initial contact with a salesman (Marshall) went very well. He provided me with an estimate and I was initially sold by his presentation. The next contact I had, they said this person was no longer with the company. So they sent out another individual. There was a break in communication with the appointment time so I called the main number. A Mr Larue answered the phone who later turned out to be the owner of the company. I tred to talk with this individual about the appointment and how the office stated the salesman would be out but would call first, he was rude, stated it was my fault, said i had an atitude, used vulgarity and hung up on me. I am just grateful that I did not invest 25k dollars in this company that is run by a rude and monstrous individual. I can only imagine what would have happened if I had an issue in the middle of a job.

They did a good job but it did seem a little pricey.

I had gotten a quote 2yrs ago for a tear off.   I had been noticing some more deterioration on the caps and had been seriously lookling to have it done.  The roofing person came out, stood on the ground and told me the prices had gone up so add another $3,000 to the quote.  He also told me it was mostly cosmetic and would be good for another couple of years.   Again he never went up on the roof.  We had called a second contractor and he actually went up on the roof.  He proceeded to put his hand through a spot on the roof and the shingles were cracking under his feet.  He also noticed a place where it was leaking around a skylight.  I guess Dan Fulmer was too busy for what turned out to be a $12,000 roof.

Their estimate was $6000 which was high.  We ended up going with someone who was $2000 cheaper.  They were very professional and put an emphasis on making sure everything was cleaned out.  We have a 2 year old and it was important that he did not step on a nail or anything.  It took about 1.5 weeks to hear back from them.  We were surprised because this was a major job. 

The workers from Dan Fulmer Company are very neat.  They are very fast.  They are very polite.  They are easy to work with.  They clean up after themselves.  The room was cleaner when they left than when they came in.  They are really good people.  I liked what they did.  They are very reliable.  They come when they say they are going to come.  I would recommend them.  I would use them in the future. 

Came out and gave estimate. Gave lots of materials which was good. Seemed knowledgable, but never mentioned we had ventilation problems which two other contractors both pointed out and I agree with.  Price was about 10-20% more than the other two contractors (whose estimate also included changing ventilation.)  Showed up on a snowy day and the roof was snow covered so he based his statement that we needed a roof on us and the fact it is 22 years old.  While not a bad guess, wasn't pleased.  Other contractors called and asked to change the appointment to later so the roof would be clear of snow.  Also this contractor did not request to see the inside of our attic even though I had said we had some leakage that I believed was from a bad roof vent.  Then the main stopper was he came into our kitchen without removing his wet boot.s.  (Later after he waled around the house he did remove his boots).

They did an excellent job

One of my biggest pet peeves is shoes! Paul gave me a bad impression right off the get go because he did not take his shoes off before coming into my house. I had newly cleaned hardwood floors that I had to wipe down after he left. I felt that Paul was very "salesman like" and the quote he gave us was very expensive in comparison. It was at least $9,000 more than the previous estimate. I had five estimates total and all of them were around the $6,000-11,000 mark except for his which was $20,000!!!! Then he threw in a 20% discount...still way overpriced. Plus, he never even went up on my roof to check it out? Every other person that came out got a ladder and went up on the roof to see what the job entailed. He just looked at the house from the backyard and gave us an estimate in under five minutes. They may do great work, but my first impression was not a good one. I chose a different roofer instead.

Dan Fulmer did a great job with the installation but there was some miscommunication regarding how the framing would be completed. They quickly sent a designer out to ensure that we had the type of frame we wanted around the door. Work was done very promptly after that, even in the cold and snowy weather. The finished product looks great!

They do roofing, siding and gutters. They did a good job on the roof. However, it is hard to tell because there was snow on the ground and they didn?t do a really great job of cleaning up. It was okay, but I couldn?t really blame them. We had two quotes and their price was good. They are very well known in the area. There was a piece of siding that was damaged by them, but I called them once and they haven?t come back yet. I probably have to give them another call. They came when they said they were going to come. I would probably use their services again.

They did a good job. The price was competitive.

They were very good. They were here and done in one day. They were very professional and very good. They were excellent people to have in my home. They came over to measure and they answered all my questions. They were very knowledgeable. They are pricey but they are very good. It is worth the money.

They were nice, professional, and helpful. I think they would do a very good job, but they were a bit expensive for me.

We felt that we were being pressured into making a decision but felt the estimate was way out of line. Our feelings were confirmed when other estimates came in at less than half of what theirs was.

I had used them previously for windows and siding, and had been very pleased with the job they had done. This time, I went directly to them. They are very capable; they do very nice work; and they are efficient and quick. Their prices are reasonable. The entire job took them about six hours of one day. All I had to do was a little touch-up painting.

They didn?t charge me for the quotes. I will use them again in the future, if required.

The representative that came to the house for an estimate was very friendly, but professional. He provided me with an estimate on the spot after we discussed the job and he made some measurements. No sales pitches or high pressure. I thought the estimate was very reasonable and hired them. It took about 3 weeks for the windows to arrive and they scheduled the installation very quickly after that. It took one day to install all the windows and 3 days for the trim work. The guys were friendly, courteous and professional. They worked at a steady pace all day long and hardly ever took a break. In fact they skipped lunch on the last day to make sure they could finish. They cleaned up at the end of the day and you would hardly know they had been there. The quality of the work was excellent, especially the trim.

They were very clean, helpful with information, and responsive to our wishes during this major renovation. They were also very responsive to our minor post work requests.

Work started within a reasonable time of quoted start date. Tear-off was sloppy, three years later I'm still finding roofing nails and pieces of old shingles and siding lying around. An agreed upon percentage was paid up front. The siding sub-contractors were dragging their feet on completing their part of the job, and the foreman wanted to be paid in full before the job was completed to our satisfaction. Next winter and two call-backs later, the roof leaked, a sizeable water damaged window had to be replaced. Still not fixed right. Had to hire ($400)a home inspector who pointed out their most glaring examples of sub-standard work. This got the contactor and another group of subs back who all acted as if they never heard of the kind of deficiencies described. They put in their hours to "fix" the problem, we'll see. They still won't pay the $400 for the home inspector, so it seems like small claims is in my future. What a MESS!!!

Dan Fulmer was respectful of property and in their language. It was high quality work. They were referred to me and I referred them to someone else.
