Everything was done in a very professional manner. Drop cloth was placed in front of fireplace and everything was left spotless. I will hire Canterbury Chimney Sweeps again.

They refused to do the job because we did not have a driveway in the front of the house, because the sweeper would have to drag his equipment through deep snow to get the house.  We have a walkway, we have no snow, but they would not return my call.

Scheduling was efficient (be sure to call ahead if you have a specific date in mind), and the individual who did the work was friendly, professional and straightforward.  He cheerfully dealt with two cats who kept getting underfoot.  I don't remember the cost so I guessed above, but it was quite reasonable and well in line with competitors' pricing.

Great chimney sweeping service.  Very professional and with all of the tarps and special vaccuums they used, it was perfectly mess free.  Great service and they were able to advise us on how often we should have the service done based upon our woodburning habits.

I contracted Canterbury to do some chimney repair for us on an older home last August.  I've waited 11 months and have had to find an alternate mason to do the repairs as I do not want to go another year without the use of our fireplaces.  I have contacted Canterbury over 15 times in the past 11 months to no avail.  I only got scheduled when I mentioned I had been waiting 8 months and then they had to cancel twice due to rain.  when I asked them about rescheduling they mentioned they would call and it would be done within the next month.  I am aware that as a consumer I do have choices and I  just waited too long to find an alternate chimney company.

It went very well .

Two months passed and the follow-up work was not performed.  I called and emailed the office on a few occasions and initially Kim could not find the work order, but after I emailed a her, she said their crew would be out to perform the work in August, then September, then October, and I finally went on Angie's list to find another chimney contractor who came to my house and completed the work within one week.

When they came they were very good and personable. They also do a inspection when they sweep and tell us what needs to do be done. We have used them for the past 35 years.

I have always been pleased with their work.  Very professional, courteous, on time, careful to keep the area clean w/drop cloths, and as I found out also able to respond to emergencies.  I recommend them any time anyone asks for a chimney sweep!

This company was used by the sellers of our new house. Since they were familiar with the house we called them to come out and inspect and explain our options for changing out the fireplace and I called twice and left message and they never returned the call.

Afterwards we had a fire and smoke backed up into the house. The owner came out and checked the whole chimney system. It turned out that new replacement windows had tightened up the house to the point the fireplace wouldn't draft when starting a fire. I like their responsiveness and thouroughness.

Very nice.  The situation was a little sticky because the access to the blockage was a little 7"x11" hole in the wall up near the ceiling in the first floor powderoom. They had to work in very cramped quarters and odd positions to remove the blockage but they were cheerful throughout!  I said "this must be a lot of fun for you" (being sarcastic)  And Bruce said..."actually it is! very satisfying helping solve homeowners problems.."  ( sincerely)

This company did the chimney inspection of our new house before we bought it.  At the time they had recommended installing a cap and screen and rain diverter.  After we moved in I tried to contact them but had difficulty doing so.  I gave them a "C" in the responsiveness category because it took at least 3 phone call and voice mails before I got a response. 

In fact, I had called another chimney sweep at one point to get the work done, and he said he had received calls from other people telling him the same thing.  I wound up not having him do the work since he was located so far away.  He also said he had never heard of a "rain diverter" before, and asked if I meant a "cricket"?  I had asked the same thing during the inspection because I had never heard of a "rain diverter" either, but no, they did not mean a "cricket". 

So then I called a 3rd company based on a referral, and they said they could do the work but they wanted to charge me twice as much!  He too did not know what a "rain diverter" was, so I was beginning to get suspicious at this point.  So I decided to try Canterbury Chimney one last time and finally got hold of someone.  They acted surprised when I told them I had left numerous voice mails but had never heard back, so clearly there's a breakdown in their phone system somewhere. 

Anyway, they were able to come out and do the work for the initial price quoted.  We now have a new cap and screen, plus a "rain diverter", which is basically just long piece of metal bent 90 degrees lengthwise (like a metal corner bead without the holes, if you know what that is).  It's mounted on the roof above the chimey so that the rain running down the roof gets diverted away from the chimney.   I guess we'll see how well it works in the years ahead! 

We had asked for our chimney to be cleaned and inspected. After two weeks they finally came by and said the chimney didn't need cleaning. They charged me $50.00 and left. An inspection never occured so I called them back and they promised they would come by sometime later in the day to finish the job I had asked them to do. They never showed up or even called me back. I used them in the past and they were very professional, but I'll never use them again.

The inspections and cleaning went well. It was recommended that the next time we get the chimneys cleaned we get a new damper as they could not remove the current one. They recommended a "cap damper" which is different than what we have due to it's better design and it meets our needs better. An estimate for the replacement was given at approx $295 for the cap. Also, they recommended that within a year we have our chimney crown recoated to seal it from the weather. It's in ok shape but could use a touch up. We opted to not replace the damper or get the crown sealed at this time, but we will likely plan to get both done by Canterbury at the time of our next cleaning.

The sweeps did show up on time and ready to work. During the inspection of the chimneys, they noted that only one was in need of cleaning and did not attempt to pile on charges (like relining the chimney, etc.) They were honest as I was prepared to be told that all three would need extensive cleaning. They did not have a cap (animal screen)in their van for one of the chimneys (custom size), one worker went back to the shop as the other cleaned up, and had the whole job done in 90 minutes.
