Simply put, if it's plumbing, and it's underground, we do it. We provide virtually any service involving house sewer line, drain cleaning, and water service line work. This includes new installations, replacement, repair and upgrades. Balkan also provides specialty sewer and water services such as fire hydrant relocation, fire sprinkler installation, area drains, trench drains, house traps, sewer backwater valves, manholes, dry well, and detention tank installation.

Description of Work: George was a sheer delight. I had a blockage in the toilet that required several different approaches / attempts to remove. He explained each step thoroughly and avoided the more expensive resolution. I highly recommend him! Balkan also had the lowest quote for the service visit and was able to come at short notice.

Horrible service
Description of Work: Came and gave me estimate. I agreed but never called me back. I placed three calls to office. They said would return my calls but never did. How can these guys get an A rating in Angie's list. I was prepared to start immediately on work.

Description of Work: Needed to replace our water main and connection to the city water. Balkan advised us on the process, got all the permits and had the work done over the course of a week. They originally estimated it would take 2 days but they encountered some issues while they were digging out the pipes. To dig out the pipes they had to make 3 holes in the street and sidewalk and through our foundation. They closed all of those up with relative speed. They also moved our interior water meter and re-connected the inside pipes (for a small up-charge since they normally only handle outside pipes). Overall they were reliable and did a good job. As with all contractors you do have to ask a lot of questions and demand answers along the way but they were fairly responsive and even came back to check the water meter installation a few weeks later when we were finding pebbles in our faucet filter.

Description of Work: Balkan Sewer & Water Main cleaned our main house line, as well as all the outdoor drains, which were backing up whenever it rained. The day after our service call it rained a lot, and all the lines drained perfectly. The plumber they dispatched services our neighborhood regularly and was familiar with the plumbing configuration of our home, which saved time. He also recommended a maintenance schedule to avoid future issues.

They did not get back to me and I kept on calling them and they were completely unreachable. They were recommended by another company and they came and just checked the place out once. We never signed a contract, but they just never came when they said they would. I don?t know what happened and I think they completely forgot about this project. I tried to contact them a few time and they just seemed to be really confused.
Description of Work: Balkan Sewer And Water Main Service came out in 2008 or 2009 and checked the place and they were supposed to dig the pipe out.

Well I have to agree, I am really confused. Over 2 years later this guy realized no work was done? How about getting a new and accurate quote from one that is over 2 years old? Someone sure does seem to have forgotten about this project! We only retain and honor quotes for a year or so. P.S. 8 people in the office 12 hours a day....... unreachable??? 5:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday + weekends someone always on duty.

The man who came from Balkan to assess the work explained things well. The workmen came exactly when he said they would. They had to work hard, there was a lot of hand digging. The work was completed with no damage to my front yard. New piping was set up in my cellar but everything was cleaned up nicely. The workmen were polite. I got a ten year guarentee on the work. I was very satisfied and pleased with the company and would recommend them.
Description of Work: The company replaced leaking piping that ran from the water main in the street to the house. The Joseph Balkan company was recommended by my regular plumber as the people to call for this kind of job. I should also mention that when the City Department of Environmental Protection came, as they must to inspect such leaks and authorize repairs they also recommended the company to me as doing good and reliable work.

Called Balkan on 7/26 for a quote on water main replacement. A guy called Vinny showed up in 2 hours who gave me a quote for $2500 which include water main replacement and restore any disturbed pavement. Gave him the order on the same day and the next morning at 8:00 AM, their crew showed and finished the job by 3:00 PM. The job was clean and well executed. I can tell they are a specialist in water main replacement and they've been doing this for long time. Will recommend them to anyone who's need a new water main.

My main water line started to leak water in the basement. I called Balkan & their supervisor Jay came to my home on a Sunday to evaluate the problem. He knew what he was talking about & told us exactly what had to be done. He gave us a fair price & made an appointment for his crew to come that week. 4 men came to my home 2 days later & dug 4 holes (2 on my property & 2 within the street). I was very impressed with how hard these men worked. They worked non stop for 7 hours without a break until they were done. I felt bad for them & gave them water & soda because the day was so hot. They also dug a hole in my house for the placement of the main line & installed all the cooper piping (1") to the city line. After completing the work, they filled in the holes & the cement workers came back the next day to recement the patch they dug up. The workers were great & very neat. I would refer this company to any one in need of a new water or sewer main break. Thank You ! Maureen O.

Super fast and friendly. I have two boys ages 2 and 4 years old. The crew waved to them while they worked and got the job done fast. They were courteous and understanding that I have children. They asked before shutting the water off for the few hours they needed to do so enabling me to fill some pots first. The crew went so out of their way that even when digging up our front lawn they managed to spare the flowers without anyone even asking. My picky neighbors were impressed!
