Balkan Sewer and Water Main Service Inc

My sewer backup repair was done by George. In all my years as a business owner as well as a customer, I have never met anybody as professional and capable as George. His approach and innovation in opening up the blocked sewer line was as intelligent and capable as an interventional cardiologist opening up a blocked coronary artery. He works relentlessly until the problem is solved. His knowledge of the problem as well as all aspects of plumbing is really second to none. He is also a very kind and friendly individual. I would recommend him ten thousand percent to anyone. George is truly a one of a kind individual. Just the best!!

Balkan furnished all permits and took care of the work quickly and efficiently. We had a little leaking around the foundation a few weeks later, and Balkan team came right back to seal and clean everything further. Crew was very clean and friendly. No problems in 5 years, and our drinking water is perfectly lead-free.

This company came highly recommended but they were a disaster. They ruptured another pipe in the house while replacing the water line. The worker simply cut off the water and left the building. When I came home and noticed there was no water in the house, I checked the line and turned it back on. Water sprayed all over the boiler room. No one from this company called me to say there was an issue, no one would address it and they refused to fix it saying this was not their responsibility.

A technician came and cleared the clog with an electric snake. It seemed fine, I paid him. As soon as he left, I went downstairs and noticed that water was pouring through the ceiling. The guy broke the pipe. I called to say there's water pouring from the ceiling. The woman accused me of doing something to it, of breaking the pipe myself. When I said, "that's b.s.", she hung up on me. I called back, she told me she doesn't need my attitude and hung up on me again. The people really suck.

George was excellent in inspecting and explaining our possible repair options. When some contractors will price gouge or take advantage, he was trutfull in our options. We found our our issues were cause by a neighorbor and not our home pluming/drainage.

Since it was a Sunday, there were no plumbing supply stores open. It took a while but my toilet bowl was unclogged.

Amazing. My bathtub was completely clogged, no water would drain at all. Christopher started using the auger to attempt to clear the drain. After 20 mins or so he was getting no movement of the water in the tub. Then he tried to get the clog from the sink drain. 15 mins of work and still nothing. Went back to the tub and worked it for a little while longer and boom! it started draining. At one point Christopher said I was probably going to have to call my building manager to have them coordinate work on the main line but instead of giving up Christopher was persistent and got the job done. I am so thankful and will absolutely use Balkan again if all their techs are as persistent and professional as Christopher. Price was really reasonable too.

I had a stopped drain and thought it was an easy job. Called another company first. Two guys came and spent two hours and couldn't clear the drain. They suggested that the pipes are broken and that I should open the dry wall and replace the pipes. Then I called Balkan when I saw their experience and excellent reviews. George came. Gave me estimates for the most likely scenario and the worse case scenario, both make great sense to me. He then proceeded working on the pipes and drain and in one hour he got it all cleared. Excellent job! Top notch. I will only hire Balkan, and George, from now on for my plumbing needs.

My neighbor had a sewer backup that went into my storm drain. My neighbor called another plumbing company who told them that it wasn’t a sewer backup, and made it seem we might have a problem with our shared storm pit. After, a few days, I called Balkan and they were super responsive. The plumber who came took one look at the pit and knew it was a sewer backup. We rang my neighbors bell and within 30 minutes the problem was cleared. The service was excellent! The plumber was friendly and thorough. I highly recommend this company! Fantastic.

Brendan was knowledgeable and methodical in tracing the source of the blockage, and worked around frozen trap caps and other issues to clear the pipe. He also gave me a flat-rate estimate for the work and ended up spending quite a bit of time without any additional costs.

Since I had purchased water and sewer line protection via the NYC program, I didn't need to pay for the water main repair. Without the insurance the cost would have been approx. $10,000.00. After calling in the issue, an estimator from Balkan arrived later that day. As water was not entering the house, we scheduled the water main repair for the next morning. As promised the crew arrived and began replacing the main. This was a big job as the water line had to cross an active two lane avenue, and multiple utilities had to be on the site to ensure gas and electric lines were not impacted. As part of the install, four deep holes were dug, grass cut into, pavers moved, as well as work in the basement — when the crew left that evening there was absolutely no home owner cleanup required. The estimator arrived a few times during the day to make sure all the work was being done correctly, Great work and I would recommend this firm.

I was told the plumber would arrive between 9-12. At 1pm I called them because no plumber had arrived and no-one had contacted me. They said, "oh yeah, I think he was pulled and put on another job ... let me check." I told them they were unprofessional and hung up. Four hours later I got a text saying the job had been cancelled. Avoid this company if you value your time.

At 7:15 am, I called to make an appointment. Balkan promised a technician between 8 and 12 Noon. At 11:15 am, the dispatcher called to report that his technician assigned to my job could not get out of his parking spot because he was blocked by another parked car. Balkan stated that it was working to "tow" the parked car (not believable). Instead of telling me that they were dispatching another technician to me, Balkan asked me to wait while until sometime after 12 Noon when the technician was expected to get to me. Having already set aside 4 hours to waits for them, I was not going to wait more hours. I told the dispatcher that if a technician did not arrive by 12 Noon I would contact another company. Ten minutes later, I received a text message stating that my job had been canceled. Very professional.

Called a 7 AM and they arrived by 9 AM. Managed to navigate to a tricky cleanout place in the basement and cleared the drain. Worker polite efficient. Worth the price

I asked my question and got a super fast written response, with the exact information I needed to resolve my question. Very impressive and if I lived in New York and not sunny Florida, I would definitely use them for my plumbing needs.

If you are a woman, do not call here. The man who answered the phone in about three minutes managed to cut me off from speaking multiple time and was incredibly condescending. Do not use these folks.

They dont do this kind of plumbing work.

They don’t do home plumbing repairs, only large sewer work. It was a waste of time to give me their name.

Javad (I hope that was his name). Came out for an estimate. I got an estimate for the job. I had lots of questions, so he came out again. Based on our conversation I sent him the video of the main sewer line that was done by another company (not a competitor). It was agreed that I would need additional work based on additional issues seen in the video. I got three estimates and he was the only one to see the additional issue (my neighbor who is a plumber confirmed the issue). They also were the lowest estimate--interestingly, because a city tree was over the collapsed pipe, it required a city-approved arborist-- their arborist was $100 less than the other two estimates. They estimated that it would take 3-4 days. They showed up on the first day on time and started working. I went to work. All of my neighbors commented on how polite and accommodating they were. They also told me that they worked all day., They dug a hole about 8 to 10 feet deep to where the pipe was. At the end of the day, the hole was covered up with wood planks. By the end of day two, the pipe was replaced on my property. On day three, they worked on the street. The end of day three and day four was clean up. They left the place and street clean. I hope you never need the main sewer line replaced (expensive), but if you do, this is the company to go with. The cost was roughly $18,000.

We found this company was unprofessional. We called for sewer cleaning due to a clog, and we were told they would call back soon. Hours went by until we called again and told them no one called us back. We were then told to wait again, and someone would come out that evening to our home. Their website stated it was 24 hour/7 days. That was the reason we called them in the first place. Well, hours go by and no one showed up. I finally called again in the morning and then a man answered and said they would come out that morning. Well, No one showed up again. After being disappointed, we went with another company who showed up on time and did the work.

I really did not think it would be possible to fix our drain without breaking it completely apart. The main drain had some very difficult, multiple elbow, setup that would not permit the passage of any of the diy snakes that they sell at the local hardware store. Thank g-d for Balkan plumbing. They sent over a very conscientious fellow named George who really went the extra mile for us, and managed to get the drain cleared out using professional equipment. Although I consider myself a "do it yourself" type person, this job simply could not be completed without a professional. Thank you George and thank you Balkan plumbing.
