Mabey's Moving & Storage Inc

It was easy to get an estimate. They were accommodating with scheduling. It was challenging to move some of the items down a curly staircase. They did not damage anything. They properly secured my belongings. My brother also used them.

Mabey's has always been my first choice and call for moving in the Albany, NY area. I know a number of people who have used them for local moves (including my wife when we first got married) and I have never heard anything but good reports.
 
However, I have twice contacted Mabey's about a move across state lines (Interstate) and, while their prices were better than many, they never had the best price. Furthermore I have found them completely inflexible on their prices and they seem to quickly lose interest if they aren't sure you are going with them. I made clear to them that I would use them if they came within 5% of the price of another mover (who is also a major, very highly rated national company with a big local presence) and I could not even get the Mabey's rep to call me back - in every case I had to call him. In the end I am using the other company - they have been much more responsive and professional and there price is a full 10% lower for a major interstate move.

Lastly I was very surprised that the Mabey's rep estimated my move (around 18,000) lbs. by tick marks on a form and then adding everything up via a calculator. The mover I selected did a full inventory of my house with a handheld device and gave me an excellent report listing everything I was and was not taking. I was then able to understand how I could save some weight (and money) or what it would be if I brought additional items.  In finalizing the dollars of the move I walked through the specific inventory with the rep and told her exactly what to add and remove from the list and she was instantly able to revise the weight and cost.  I don't know why a company like Mabey's can't do the same thing.

I am very pleased with how well the overall experience went. My initial contact with the main office right through to waving good-bye to the movers when they were all done.

They were wonderful and took care of everything. The company was on time and stayed good to the estimate. They were great and we thought the cost was reasonable. I will use them again in the future.

They were fabulous! They were incredibly kind and understanding. They were very respectful of all my belongings. I couldn't recommend them more highly.

As noted above, from the time that the initial contact was made by phone to the Rensselaer office in early November, to and through the time of delivery in early December, the process was handled by Mabey representatives in a professional manner

There were 3 guys that came and moved us. The guy that was in charge was not very nice. When one of the boxes that we packed fell over he yelled at my husband for packing it wrong. We had asked not to have this gentleman in charge of our move. We had friends who also had a bad experience with him. The other two younger gentlemen did a good job.
