Our three year old condensing gas boiler started to work intermittently on a Saturday morning, before finally failing around noon. We called our regular plumber who never responded (even days later) and then went to Angie's list where we found out about Ken Massa. Ken called us back within an hour and was over later in the afternoon. The boiler was in bad shape, with many parts that had failed. ( We learned later that the root cause was failed electronic control module (ECM) which basically fried about six other parts). He got it working intermittently, but was honest with us and recommended we not run it until he got all new parts installed (which occurred Tuesday). He wasn't able to replace the ECM until later the next week, which along with redoing the inlet and out vent pipes, finally fixed the problem. Ken was always available throughout this time and went out of his way to pick up the needed parts. The failure we had is common in this model of boiler and requires a skilled craftsman with a lot of patience and knowledge to fix properly. Ken Massa is that guy. We will be using him for all our plumbing and heating needs in the future.

I called Ken at 6:00 on a Friday night, thinking there was no way this guy would call me back until Monday. To my (pleasant) surprise, he called me back within minutes and offered to come that evening. I told him the morning would be fine, I could live without hot water for one night. He and Dave came the next day. To my pleasant surprise (again), he informed me that the pilot light had gone out (perhaps due to wind coming down the chimney). He re-lit the pilot light, made sure it was good and strong, and put a cap on the side pipe that he said was dripping slightly (thus the water). He explained how everything worked and assured me that the water heater was in good shape for another 5 years or so. In the end, he gave me a reduced price because he said he didn't do that much. I really appreciated it - he could easily have charged me more. Now my hot water is back on, and I have the relief of knowing that I don't need a new $1500 water heater! I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone. :)

In April 2013, I had used Ken Massa at our rental in town while our home was being renovated. He and his coworker Dave did a great job fixing the pipes to the washing machine in the basement. In May of 2013, we had moved into our home that was renovated. Due to a terrible contractor, work still had to be done and it included all sorts of plumbing work.
I knew who to call when my husband needed the sink/drain in the kitchen, the dishwasher and the sink in the laundry room to be hooked up. Ken and Dave showed up within the hour and got right to work. They also did some work in the bathroom and moved the pipe for the gas stove.
The next day, our septic backed up. My husband called Ken and he sent Dave over to help. The pipe leading out from the house was old and the roots had grown through the pipe and clogged it. Ken recommended a company that could help us with the pipe and septic. The company he recommended fixed the problem in no time and was very efficient. A few weeks ago, we had our counter tops installed and Ken sent Dave over to install the faucet. Also, our spout in our bath tub was too loose, again from shoddy work from the contractor, and Dave was able to secure it. Everything works without a hitch.
Ken Massa runs a top notch company. Ken and his crew take their time to install and fix all plumbing needs. Most importantly, they listened and took the time to explain to either my husband or I what they were doing. Ken's prices are very fair. In the future, we will continue to use Ken Massa Pumbing and Heating and we highly recommend their services.

I called Ken yesterday to make an appt. He was able to come today - pretty quick for a non-emergency. He was a little late but otherwise, everything ran smoothly. He and his colleague Sean came by and looked at my tub and pipes and it turned out I was very close to having a big leak had they not come by!
I thought I had a clogged drain but it turned out a stopper was stuck inside the pipe and the pipe was very corroded. Ken said he could try to remove the stopper before recommending to replace the trap unit. His approach was to fix the problem if possible, without costing more money, which I really appreciated. Once he looked at the drain, it became clear that replacing the trap was necessary. And as soon as he went to do so, the pipe cracked and basically fell apart it was so rotted! He quickly worked with Sean to get everything replaced, tested, and properly fixed in about an hour! He had all of the parts in his truck and they cleaned up everything afterwards. They were both very polite, professional, and courteous as well.
I am a new homeowner and I have to say, I find one of the essentials is having a plumber you can trust and count on. I have them now, and it's a huge relief!
Thanks Ken and Sean!
Jaime

Unfortunately, the basement flooded again and Ken increased the elevation. The basement flooded again. This time, Ken had the entire pipe replaced with PVC. The basement flooded again and, to date, Ken has not responded to my many phone calls.

I called Ken about my basement flooding due to a clog in my pipes, and told him I thought it was the pitch of my pipes causing the problem. Ken was at my house within an hour, and was able to determine the problem quickly and fixed it. I have had many plumbers at my house in the past for this same problem and was told many things from the pitch of my pipes, to the septic tank. I had my septic tank emptied this past year, so that was not the problem. I was given costly estimates to fix the pitch of my pipes from other plumbers. But Ken was the first plumber to actually show me what the problem was. It turned out my pipes were completed hardened with years of residue buildup. The other plumbers were simply putting a snake through and making an opening to temporarily fix the problem. I will need to maintain my pipes with a solution every month to prevent buildup again, but I am so grateful that I finally have resolution to this ongoing problem.
Ken was very nice and very knowledgeable, he explained the problem to me, and actually took a photo of the problem in my pipes showing the residue buildup before he completely removed it all.
I am extremely happy with Ken's work and his is price was very reasonable. I definitely trust Ken for all of my plumbing needs, as well as heating. Before this, I did not know who to call to maintain my furnace, but I do now.

Overall, I was very pleased with Ken and Dave's work. I called Ken early in the morning and left a message about the pipe being clogged over the washing machine. Ken called me back within 5 minutes. He arrived at my house in an hour with his partner Dave. I explained to them that when the washing machine extracted, the hose where the water drains into the pipe was over flowing soap suds and water. Since we are renting, we did not oversee the installation of the plumbing which needed to be redone. Ken and Dave went right to work and installed a new pipe at the end of the line and installed a longer pipe for the hose to sit in so the water could be extracted properly without overflowing. Ken and Dave said that more work needed to be done concerning venting issues and the landlord is having them come back in mid May.
Ken and Dave were very professional and very nice. They took the time to answer any questions I had about plumbing in general. Ken's pricing of the job was very fair. I would use them again in a heart beat. And, so is my landlord for future plumbing work he wants done. Thank you Ken and Dave!

OVERALL, THE EXPERIENCE WAS GREAT. KEN RETURNED MY INITIAL PHONE CALL ON A WEEKEND, DESPITE THE FACT THAT HE WAS ON VACATION WITH HIS FAMILY. HE DID THE WORK QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY. HE ANSWERED ALL OF MY QUESTIONS IN LAYMAN'S TERMS AND IS A PLEASURE TO DEAL WITH. I WISH I HAD HIRED HIM TO DO THE ENTIRE BATHROOM.

I had spoken with a number of people before I saw Ken' full page ad on the back of the Pennysaver. I am glad I did as I could better understand what Ken was doing and why. It was a very stressfree experience.
