We Are Robison Oil, Westchester's largest full service oil company, has been serving the community since 1921. Robison enjoys the reputation of being Westchester's premier full-service company. In the early 70's, after the death of the founder E. Robison, the company was taken over by Mobil oil. In 1984, the Singer family, who had been in the heating oil business in the New York Metropolitan area since 1927, acquired the company. At that time, Robison serviced approximately 7,000 homes. Since 1984, under Singer management has grown to nearly 22,000 customers and 200 employees. Robison provides a variety of home services ranging from fuel oil delivery, oil heat service, HVAC service, Natural Gas supply, Natural Gas service and Electricity. Robison is currently regarded as the finest full service company in Westchester County.

They had extremely poor service throughout the contract. I rent my home.  I have 2 burners and a boiler in the basement. My landlord paid for the service contract and I paid for the oil. I had such a hard time getting these guys out here to service my burners. They needed to be cleaned to run efficiently. It seemed about every two weeks the burners would go out and I would have to have them come out again. On the phone they were not pleasant to deal with. I have a baby in the house so It was a serious issue to get the unit working properly. Then to top it all off, my contract ends September 12, and they come and fill my oil tank when I am not home 5 days before my contract was up. I had over half a tank of oil left and did not need them to refill it at this time. They ended up charging me an outrageous price to and would not negotiate anything lower.   They call themselves the house that service built and I felt like their customer was definitely lacking in my situation.

The equipment is in extremely poor condition and we recommended on several occasions that the system in need of replacement. The system has exceeded its life expectancy and many of the components as you pointed out are failing resulting in an interruption of services. My office reached out to your landlord regarding the state of the system and recommended that our representative present him with options for replacement. He declined an appointment at this time. Our technicians are seasoned and experienced mechanics who do the best in every situation that they can. However there are times, such as this when the equipment is beyond repair and the homeowner must make take the appropriate action in upgrading to avoid continued service interruptions. None of the air conditioners systems are working.  They 've worked better during bad heat waves than they are right now.  Furthermore, Robison refuses to give me a refund after being charged for three heating units instead of two on the heating contract I had with them.  They keep promising to send a check but it never comes.  And they now tell me that the only way they will offer a heating contract is if you buy gas from them.

Unclear as they have yet to show up for their service call after 8 hours without heat. They are unresponsive, they continually lie about being on their way. I have to assume they either do not fully fix, or break other things as they leave since I have had to call them severe week with an issue since their yearly service call. It took them over a year to get me on a proper oil delivery schedule. I have had the worst experience ever with this company - if not for the fact their are no obvious alternatives to this company, I doubt they would still be in business. If you are going to have a monopoly try staffing your service with people who actually know what they do for a living. And the service guy had the audacity to hang up on me as I was annoyed since it's 11 pm and and we called at 3 to tell that the heater was smelling like smoke.

Guess they were waiting for the house to burn down and the for fire department to have to deal with us instead.

And the issue this time - the fact that they did not deliver oil on time.

We are still waiting for them to come and reboot the boiler. they expect you to wait in a freezing environment all day and can't even give a time window.  
their technicians  are supposed to call  30mn prior to coming , most of the time they they don't and  you have to drop whatever you do to run and meet them.  Their customer service agent are surely well trained  to give empty information, perfect lip service.. After you hang up , you don't know much more than when you started. 
Twice we waited all day and decided to cancel because the house was too cold to stay in. 
The sales agent agreed that they made a mistake and other than being apologetic and promising  some form of compensation, he didn't have  much to offer as a solution.
A service oriented company provides good service in the hight of their season, not when things slow down.
 Frankly  our experience with Robison oil has been anything but a positive one.

I have now, finally, reached the end of my patience with Robison.  We have been with them for many, many years, and for the most part I was willing to overlook the 2 or 3 times over the years that they let us run out of oil.  However, between last winter and this one alone, we have run out 3 times.  
The last month or so, I have taken it upon myself to call them and let them know I need a delivery ASAP as the tank level was dangerously low.  One time, I called on a Thursday, was given a Monday delivery, and then told on that Monday that they couldn't guarantee the truck would come.  As it was fairly emergent on the Thursday, this was unacceptable.  After perhaps 6 phone calls that day, the delivery finally came, but I had to bully my way through customer service to have this happen.  After having to do their job for them (I was under the impression that usage was kept track of and as we are automated delivery customers AND paid upfront for 1400 gallons of oil back in August that Robison would be sure to know when to deliver so we didn't run out) we ran out of oil AGAIN this morning.  I called at 5:45 am and was told a truck would be out.  I called again at 8:30, 11:30, and 1:30.  At 1:30 I was "let in on some information" that I shouldn't be annoyed, rather grateful that they were even delivering as it has been relatively impossible for Robison to even get the oil for deliveries due to the frozen rivers.  Imagine how lucky I felt.  The truck is just now pulling down my driveway at 3:30pm--the only bright spot, Mark the technician, who was kind enough to take pity on us and give us 10 gallons of oil because the truck still hadn't arrived when he got here.  He started the system
I am fed up, and do not appreciate the run around and general poor communication at that company.  I have spent this whole winter afraid of when I might run out of oil--Robison has done the opposite of what their commercials say, I have no confidence whatsoever that I "have a friend in Robison".
