We Are Robison Oil, Westchester's largest full service oil company, has been serving the community since 1921. Robison enjoys the reputation of being Westchester's premier full-service company. In the early 70's, after the death of the founder E. Robison, the company was taken over by Mobil oil. In 1984, the Singer family, who had been in the heating oil business in the New York Metropolitan area since 1927, acquired the company. At that time, Robison serviced approximately 7,000 homes. Since 1984, under Singer management has grown to nearly 22,000 customers and 200 employees. Robison provides a variety of home services ranging from fuel oil delivery, oil heat service, HVAC service, Natural Gas supply, Natural Gas service and Electricity. Robison is currently regarded as the finest full service company in Westchester County.

They were the Energy Vendor for the previous owner of my house. Since deciding to stay with them over other Con Ed alternatives, I've been pleasantly surprised with the level of service. They have been able to respond to calls in 2-4 hours on the two occasions I had no heat. The service people are honest and willing to explain what they are doing.

The owner/manager of the plumbing unit came to my home for a consult on oil to gas conversion. I had received competing offers and was prepared for his questions. I knew exactly what I wanted - from unit to placement - and Dom did not appreciate that. I received a wild and quot;since you know everythingand quot; from him and decided on the spot not to go with Robison. A week after the fateful visit and I still hadn't received a written estimate.
Its a shame, I use them for oil delivery and they've been great. The work to be done is substantial and they are completely out of the running now all because of one uncontrolled man.

This report has been submitted on behalf of my son and written from his perspective. After discovering we were getting no hot water in the house, I called Robison since I already have a heating service contract with them. They told me the diagnostic would be covered under the service contract but if I needed any parts, that would be extra. It was the same thing they told before an earlier incident -- parts are extra. (in that incident of no heat, a stripped wire was causing a short. They found it, and fixed the issue at no cost (labor was covered under service contract) which I was very happy with.) A technician was sent out the next day. They were a little late which normally wouldn't be a huge deal but I did have a limited window. I was told the previous job had run much longer than expected. I was able to have my dad come over and let them in. (during previous calls, they were very punctual). The cause of the hot water issue was due to the thermocouple. They diagnosed it, replace the thermocouple and billed me for $155.Upon receiving the bill I was surprised at the amount. $155 seemed like a lot for a thermocouple (retails for about $15-$20 in Home Depot). Since I wasn't there during the time of repair I couldn't speak to the technician about it. I called customer service who was very pleasant but not able to give me answer right away and would have to look into it. I'm not sure if I was supposed to call back or they were going to call, regardless I sat on it and then received an invoice for it in the mail. I called again, spoke with Anthony in customer service who looked into the situation further. I had thought the part (i.e. thermocouple) was being marked up by 10x. It turned out I was also being charged labor. He explained that when a part is needed, the service contract becomes null and void. In other words, you are charged for the part AND labor. I told him that was disappointing as it was never explained to me like that. I knew I the parts would be extra but my understanding was that labor was included with the service contract. I asked why and continued to express my disappointment (very cordially mind you). In the end he was able to speak to the service manager and adjust the cost due to the confusion...which was very much appreciated!Based on their customer service, courtesy and willingness to work with me to come up with a solution, I will continue to using them and recommend them to others. While there may be cheaper options out there, the added benefits and support offered by Robison makes it all well worth it.

I was asked to jus replace a part that would cost, about $300 to $400, whereas the part costed only $28. There were 2 people, who came and one person was knowledgeable and informative. There was a lot of variation amongst them. I will still have them come over for the maintenance checks.

The service contract was $130. They were great. They explained everything and they were thorough. My oil tank was almost empty and as we were walking out to it one of their tanks drove by and he flagged them down to have them wait until he called in everything so they could fill the tank with oil. The price was good.

Non responsive company. Left my name and number on 2 separate occassions with a live person to get estimate on replacing my central air conditioning. I have never received a call back. If they don't respond to make a sale I wonder how bad their response is to service.

It always goes well with Robison--you know they will do the job right and at the price they quote you. Bonnie is the woman who will quote you the price and is a woman of her word. Her estimate is her word. I love visits from my techs---Fred, Timmy, Damian--they're all wonderful.

Billing department kept screwing up our account and left us with no oil one night. Through out the night, they said they would send someone out to take a look but never did until late in the morning while my whole family packed into one room so we can keep warm using a space heater.

I have a service contract with Robison Oil. I had a problem last year but I don’t have a problem this year. It's burning more efficiently and it burns a lot less oil. I didn't know how to run it until I spent some time with the guy who was working on it, about how to work with the steam system and I have never done that before. They are pretty responsive; in terms that they don't give you a run around. If you call them, they show up and take care of business. When I first got here I did not know anything or anybody and I think they seemed to be one of the locals, so that's how I found them. They weren't as cheap on their oil prices which are a little more than some but they seemed to have a stronger presence and they are on time and they don't mess around. Its really hard to grade them because I have been living in this part of the world for only a couple of years now and I don't know any of the local people really too well even yet so it would be hard for me to compare it to others but I've been very happy with their service. I would give them maybe a B on the price but an A on everything else. I think you can get better prices but I've been real happy with their service and I will continue to use them in future.

I called Robison to arrange for someone to come to my place to give me an estimate on replacing my hot water heater, furnace and ac condenser. Tim Fernandez from Robison arrived nearly an hour late for the appointment. Although apologetic, it didn't occur to Tim or anyone in the office to phone to tell me he was running late. After looking at several proposals, I left a message for Tim telling him I wanted to move ahead with replacing the hot water heater. He phoned back a day later, and left a message saying he needed some additional information. I called back and left a message asking him to please call so we could confirm a date. Neither he, nor anyone from Robison ever responded.

The rep from Robison called us back promptly and came the next day to talk us through the oil delivery process and explain their maintenance plan. He was informative, offering us many pros and cons between oil and gas, etc. We did end up purchasing their maintenance plan, and they are scheduled to come do their first maintenance checkup next week. We will also be using them to pull a gas insert out of our wood fireplace.

I have used Robison for a few different things and for the most part, they are good. On the igniter, I was disappointed when he took less than 1/2 hour and charged me for one hour. That day, I mentioned the time to him and he changed it on my receipt to read 20 minutes and I would be charged for 20 minutes, but the bill still showed up with a one hour charge. That was discouraging. I have used them another time when my air conditioner stopped working and the switch simply had to be reset. They only charged me for the time spent and it was nice for them to tell me it was a simple switch reset rather than try and sell me something I didn't need. I have used them for their plumbing services too when my toilet needed some new bolts. They were speedy and clean.

Robinson is a very reliable company. I also buy oil from them as well. This recent visit went just fine and I have no complaints. I do have a contract with them and I pay it yearly. They will come out anytime and charge no cost for parts. They also show up in a relatively short time, too. I am very pleased with them.
