Dear member, I am so sorry to hear that your experience with Ivy Lea Construction did not live up to your expectations. I would like to clear up a few incorrect statements in your comments. I see here that Mike T was your sales person and was out to your home and supplied a detailed proposal for your driveway and a new fence. After reviewing the proposal you contacted us again, stating that you would have another contractor install your fence, but that you would like to hire Ivy Lea for your concrete work. On August 8th of 2012 you signed a contract with Ivy Lea Construction for $ 7,874.00 for a partial concrete driveway. I also see here that you took advantage of one of our most popular financing plans, 0% interest for 24 month. This plan has helped many of our clients make their home improvements more affordable while not having to take out any additional loans that would have interest. On August 29th and 30th, we had our concrete crew out to install a new section of concrete driveway at your home. These two days we removed your old concrete and set up your partial driveway. Ivy Lea installed all forms, set grade, installed stone base, compacted, and installed wire mesh making the area ready to pour the new concrete. On September 5th, we poured the new partial driveway. Once the driveway was poured and all the forms were stripped, the concrete was sealed on September 5th. On September 6th, we removed the forms and installed new top soil and seed as we do on all our concrete projects. All employees who worked on your driveway are Ivy Lea Construction employees. The employees who worked on this driveway project were not kids. Actually the ages of the employees on your project were 30, 38, and 39 years old. All the employees that worked at your home have been with Ivy Lea for more than 5 years and the foreman on the crew has been with us over 10 yrs. The foreman of this crew has actually work concrete for over 22 years. This crew performs hundreds of jobs each and every concrete season and I have never once had a complaint about this crew for the type of behavior you described. I would not dispute that my men were laughing or drinking coffee and smoking at your home. As far as the laughing, we encourage that with our employees. Concrete is hard and very strenuous type of work. We prefer to have energetic, happy employees. As far as coffee drinking and smoking, I am sure Ivy Lea is not the only place that these activities take place. I personally don't smoke and never really liked coffee but many people do. We do try to accommodate all of our clients wishes and had you notified us that you did not want smoking on your property we would have instructed our crewmen to only smoke their cigarettes off site. I am sure that I never said that this is not by best crew because that is simply not true. If this crew were sub-standard they would not be employed with my company. On Sept 5th, a Wells Fargo completion certificate was signed by you and submitted to Wells Fargo for payment on this project. On September 26th, your brother called me about a few concerns with the driveway. I called back within an hour of his voice mail, and we agreed to set up a walk through on the project on September 28th at 3:00 pm. On September 28th, when we met your brother and I agreed to fix a few items that he was not happy with. These items were agreed to be completed that following week. On Oct 4th 2012, two employees of Ivy Lea were at the house for 2 hours making the corrections. We power washed the street and apron of the existing concrete that we did not install. We cleaned brick where some over pour concrete had gotten on the 1st course of brick by the new flat work. We painted the wood man door leading into the garage. We vinyl patched the garage floor that was previously cracked, and siliconed 2 spots at the side step. There was no fight, no argument over anything of the sort at your home. You were not even at the meeting. I do apologize you had to call us to take care of these problems. Once the problems were recognized they were dealt with quickly and completed swiftly. I stopped out personally on Oct 4th to inspect the work our employees performed that day at your home. I met your brother out at your home that day to make sure that you and he were satisfied with all the repairs. I was instructed that all looked good and that he was happy. He thanked me for going the extra mile to make sure all your concerns were handled properly. I also called you the next day and left a message to make sure you were happy with everything. I never heard back from you. As far as your concrete being uneven, that is also not true. We have to set grade properly to move water off your driveway. In this case we had a garage floor that we had to meet and we also had to meet the existing section of driveway that did not get removed this time around. The concrete was installed properly and your project looked great. As far as your project being subbed out, this is also not true. Ivy Lea Construction installs 95% of our projects with in house staff. The only time a sub-contractor would be brought into an Ivy Lea project is when their work would be part of a larger project. We typically bring in our experienced sub-contractors to perform our electrical, plumbing, fence work, and sometimes our hardwood flooring . Other than these types of work , all work is installed by our in house employees. We have found this can guarantee a high quality job every time, day in and day out. Your concrete driveway was installed by Ivy Lea Construction employees every step of the way. As far as not seeing any Ivy Lea trucks at your home, this is also untrue. Since our trucks have GPS on them, and I know where all of our trucks are at all times, I can say with certainty what exact days we were there, and also the times we were there. Since all my trucks are labeled and numbered, there is no way it is true that you never saw a Ivy Lea truck at you home. Our concrete crew has 2 large dump trucks, a van, 3 trailers, and several pieces of equipment. Our form trailer is 20' long that is labeled with our name and phone number just like all our trucks, and the letters on the form trailer are 12" tall. You must have been able to see this? Ivy Lea Construction trucks were without a doubt at your home. On Oct 5th I received a letter from Wells Fargo that you disputed the charge on your account and stated to Wells Fargo that we never performed any work at your house. This is another thing that was untrue. I forwarded an email back to Wells Fargo, and sent them before and after pictures of your project and also the work order for the warranty work that we had already performed. Wells Fargo the next day closed their investigation and instructed you to pay there financing bill since the work was performed. On Sept 29th 2012 you signed off to have Ivy Lea Construction re-seal your driveway in early October of 2012. Ivy Lea Construction, recommends that you re-seal any concrete that is poured during the 1st year before the harsh winter weather comes and de-icier is on the ground. There is an addition charge of $299.06 ( includes tax) for this service, but it is recommended. Truth be told this doesn't even cover our cost to perform this work, but we always want to protect our freshly placed concrete, especially before the first winter. You called and cancelled this work and although we did not re-seal the concrete in October, it was sealed when first installed in September. You later told us that you decided to install your own sealer. You researched on the web and found some good penetrating sealer to apply to the concrete. You never called us to see what we would recommend. We are always here for all our clients to help them out the best we can. You went ahead and sealed the concrete with a penetrating sealer. The problem is that the penetrating sealer could not penetrate the concrete because we had already applied a cure and seal sealer after our initial installation. Some of the sealer you applied turned the top of the concrete milky white because it could not perform properly. Just a plain lack of communication. If you had called us we could have pointed you in the right direction. On May 30th 2013, you called in a warranty claim for tire marks on the driveway and also to look at the sealer issue. Kevin one of our supervisors was dispatched to inspect this on the same day of your call and set an appointment to inspect the driveway was made. Kevin determined that this was not a warranty issue and he had the original sales person call you to make an appointment to get a cost together on the front half of your driveway and find out more about the sealer. On 6-17-13 Mike T and your brother met to get cost together to finish up his driveway and also to strip and seal the concrete that Ivy Lea installed in 2012, that had then re-sealed yourself. You state here that the cost to complete your driveway was $ 8900.00 This is also untrue. The total cost to replace the rest of your driveway is $ 8559.00 It is $750.00 to strip off the sealer that you applied improperly and re-seal it properly. As far as Ivy Lea Construction not caring about our clients, this is another untruth. We take great care of all our clients. We go above and beyond all the time for our clients. It is true that we have to make money and be profitable to take such great care of all our clients. We have over 10,000 very satisfied clients over our 30 year history. I am truly grateful for every single one of our clients! I plan to be here a long time for our clients and keep giving them the award winning service that Ivy Lea has come to represent for the past 30 yrs. I truly am always grateful for all the feedback we get from all different sources. This is how we keep the customer service as high as possible at Ivy Lea! But I also will not stand idly by when there are untruths or even liable statements made about myself or my company. So as always, thank you for your feedback. I am sorry were not able to help you out with your recent home improvement but if your ever need anything in the future we will be here for you. I truly mean that! Thank You Mike Washington, Pres. Ivy Lea Construction, Inc.
