The communication was great. They let us know when they would be coming for the estimate and once we signed up for the work gave us a solid date and indicated there was a slim chance that they would be able to come a day earlier if a job finished early. As it turned out, that job finished earlier and gave us a call to ask if it was okay if they could come earlier.
The electrician (his name was Jay if I remember correctly) arrived with an assistant and we ran through the details to make sure we were both clear on the work that was and was not included (there was a slight chance that there would need to be some extra wiring for the the lighting kit that wasn't included in the estimate but disclosed ahead of time). They got right to work and were done within an hour. They cleaned up after themselves and everything works as expected. Everything went smoothly and there were no surprises.
"After researching this particular issue, our system indicated that two attempts were made to contact (removed member name). Our notes indicated that there was no answer and no answering machine or voicemail in order to leave a message. Each and every customer is important to us and we take it to heart if we loose even one customer."
My only GRIPE, as it were, was the $60 'dispatch fee' that is tacked onto the bill. With labor charge at $110 an hour, I thought the additional $60 was excessive and unreasonable. Of course, I could be wrong, maybe all companies charge a similar fee. Anyway, just my little complaint...
"Angie's List customers have a $60 coupon that could have been used that would have waived the dispatch fee. We charge by the 1/2 hour which is $55. Most companies charge by the hour and charge a full hour when they go even 5 minutes into the next hour. We also disclose all our fees up front both verbally before the job is scheduled and in writing on a work order that has to be signed PRIOR to any work being performed. In saying that and evaluating the work performed, the amount of work completed for $311 is certainly a fair deal. Our electricians are exceptional and work must faster than the average tech. The "D" rating for price is totally unfair considering the customer did not have to hire us if they felt our prices were not justified, especially since all other ratings were "A"."
I would recommend this company to anyone.
Electrician was clearly knowledgeable, and took time to explain his actions in words that a lay person could understand.
Overall, I was very pleased with the service, and plan to utilize this provider again.
While working on the other issues, he explained what the problems were and explained how he was going to correct them. I found him to be very efficient, capable and professional. During the course of repairing everyting, he had to leave the premises to obtain additiaonal parts. When I received the invoice I carefully reviewed the labor hours and Jason carefully noted the time he didn't work (i.e. when he was off premises) and didn't "pad" his hours for the time he was away.
The price was more than I expected, but to be fair, Palmer Electric offered to come out and provide an estimate in advance of the services being rendered. They also offered to have the service provider give me an estimate prior to starting work on the date of the service, both of which I declined because I needed to have the work done regardless.
I would definitely recommend them and re-enlist their services as required.
I had an outside light next to the side door which was burned out. I bought a new light at Lowes and when I went to install it discovered the original was improperly mounted, there was no box it was attached, barely, to the siding. I couldn't mount the new light securely so I called Palmer to get a box installed and mount the light correctly. As long as I had him there I asked if he could mount the light higher, since the new two flood light needed ito be higher up to be more effective.
He installed two boxes, one in original location with junction to wiring for existing flood in back, and another box up higher where new flood was mounted.
Job was professionally done, he sealed the exterior cap on box at original mount as well as around the new light. Cleaned up after himself nothing left behind, which bugged me at first because he did not install a small plug that covered up a mounting screw. But when I called him he had the package still and returned it a couple days later with the parts and warranty card.
It cost a little bit nore than original estimate, he spent a little more time than planned because he also adjusted another exterior flood/sensor, and sealed the main electric feed to meter. And in fairrness the estimate was only for one box. He did get the ok from my wife before doing the extra work. Had I been home I probably would have ok'd it anyway, so no harm done.
I had gotten a couple other estimates, and Palmer wasn't the lowest. But if you want electrical work done don't hire a 'handyman' hire an electrician. The work is guranteed and I am not dissapointed.
When I decided the hire Palmer, they were able to work around my schedule. They coordinated with the power company on the day I selected so that I could be home from work while they worked on my house. They were supposed to arrive at 8:30am, but had a short delay getting parts. As soon as they were aware of the delay, they called both me and the power company to let us know ... a very professional way to handle the issue. In the end, they arrived only a few minutes late and completed the job in a reasonable period of time. Matt was very professional and did a great job. I would recommend Palmer Electric to others.
I am very disappointed in this company. I had an apparent lightning strike at my home which scorched outlets and put at least one circuit out of service. I called to have them come to my home to determine what was damaged and repair same. They advised me that they were busy and could not make it for perhaps two weeks, unless I paid a premium. While this is not an immediate emergency, it has the potential to become one as the wiring in the house is likely damaged. I would have expected a better response given the situation.
"We have no idea who this person even is. We checked our records and have no information regarding this caller. It appears through his words that we never rendered any service yet rated our company poorly??? He states he refused to pay a premium. We can only speculate this matter but would like to state, we as a company do offer what's called "same day service" which is a premium rate for guaranteed same day service. If a customer refuses to pay that, there's nothing that can be done about that. That's what premium service is for. We certainly can not bump a customer ahead of another if they refuse to pay the same day rate. We would never refuse service and always try to accommodate our customers. If this individual thought this was potentially dangerous, then there should not have been any question on ordering a same day call. One of our reps does recall a customer calling about a similar issue and providing them a same day rate which was refused and when she tried to give other days available, he claimed he wouldn't be in town and said forget it I'll call someone else. Other than that, we again have no idea whom this person is and if that is the person, sure you can see for yourself, this would be very unfair of a report to make."
