George Wild does restoration and re-upholstering work out of his workshop on York Avenue on the Upper East Side. His craftsmanship is exceptional, his work is fast, and his prices are extremely reasonable. He has worked on many different projects for us, from creating new leaves for a dining room table, to re-upholstering a sofa and dining room chairs. He has also refinished a coffee table and a side table for us. He is currently working on fixing a mirrored cabinet for us. We take all of our furniture to George Wild whenever work is needed. George Wild is professional, trustworthy and an exceptional crafstman.

We brought in a cherry wood and upholstered desk chair that has previously been professionally repaired. The chair had become wobbly again and we took it apart and noticed that there was a lot of old glue stuck all around the legs and one of dowels had been broken off. We brought it to George Wild and he told us he could fix it, sand all the excess glue and put in a new dowel. We brought the chair in on Tuesday morning and the following Thursday morning George called to advise us that the chair was ready. We picked it up that morning and the repair was perfect. The chair is very steady and we were pleased with the workmanship. We thought his price was very fair.

We have an old DR table that had belonged to my parents. He looked at it and gave us a choice. For less money, we could screw and unscrew the legs and bring them to his shop. For more money, he would do it. I appreciated the money saving option. Once he picked up the legs, they were returned within 36 hours. The work is beautiful. He also charged less than someone else who had been slippery with the estimate. Mr. Wild charged exactly what the estimate was and the legs look exactly as they did before. This set from my parents is 55 years old. I will probably need more work in the future, so I am happy to have found him.

Mr. Wild was a gentleman of the old school. He was honest, professional and an artist. I brought the chairs up to him on the Upper East Side and he gave me an estimate that was right on target. He has a lot of pride in his workmanship, and well-deservedly so. I am very happy with my chairs.

I took the chair into George Wild because of the write up on Angie's List and the fact that e was near where I live. You walk into his shop and it smells of Linseed Oil, already I am in heaven This man is an old world EXPERT CRAFTSMAN and just terriffic restorer. not only did he have to soak off the glue I used but he installed a rod and refinished the leg He said it was the best he could do because I did more damage than the actual break No one would be able to tell unless you turn the chair upside down and tilt the leg in the light . I was so delighted with this man that I am taking him my dry sink which also has become unglued He is knowledge is vast and he is affordable and a perfectionist

He was fine. He told me how much it would cost and that's what I payed. I had no problem with him what so ever. He did a good job and I would recommend him. He is an old fashioned carpenter that you don't normally find around. It was nice to find someone who actually did quality work.

I called after reading a recommendation on Angie's List and described the issue. Unfortunately he couldn't pick it up so I took a minivan car service before work and brought it over. I called before I left my apartment and even though he was on his way to other clients he waited in his store until I came. When I got there and showed it to him, he gave me an estimate and asked me when I needed it done. I said whenever he wanted. So he said in two days time. Sure enough he called me two days later to tell me it was ready. Then he helped stuff me in a cab to bring it back to my place. He did excellent work and I can't believe how not creaky my bed is.

He was a craftsman! One of the old school, did the work by himself, then, when he asked us for $100/chair, he asked, "Is that fair? Do you think that's fair?" (Oh my god....)When older craftsmen like him retire, there is no one to replace them!!!
