Welcome to West Side Movers! My name is Matt Fiore and I am the owner of my family’s multi-generation moving and storage company. Our mission is to be the best NYC mover – known for our top quality moving services and boutique level of attention to detail. Many of our clients are repeat customers, moved with us before, or have been referred by friends and family. We often move different generations within the same family: parents, adult children and their grandchildren. We are located on The Upper West Side yet we service all neighborhoods in NYC including long distance from NYC to anywhere within the United States. Our team consists of experienced movers who work together regularly throughout the year.

The moving team was excellent -- the guys were professional and very nice.
Unfortunately, I received a quote from the office of $700, but when it came time to settle the bill at the end of the move, another $400 was tacked onto the price that had been quoted. On top of that, the lead mover told me that a 20% gratuity was expected. I didn't have the cash and I didn't have enough in checking to cover it all, so it had to go on my credit card.
I've read about other movers doing this kind of thing, but I expected to pay the amount I was quoted since this company was highly rated on Angie's List. All-in-all, it was a very professional crew, but you should expect to see more dollars added to your total.
There was a question on Angie's List for this evaluation that said, "Would you use this provider again?" AL did not give a "maybe" response as a choice, so I said "Yes." However, my actual answer is only maybe. I will probably do my own move next time with a rental truck.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was okay. They came to the apartment to see what was there. The foreman explained that the tip should go to him and it should be 20 percent. They took a 20 minute break. They unloaded and brought things upstairs. We went back and forth a little bit because they were saying the time should be 5 1/2 hours and it was more like 5 hours and 15 minutes. I gave them the coupon and they said I had to tell  them beforehand and I said that I did. I gave him the tip and payment because the other gentleman were in the van.

Mike Espinosa prepared an estimate to move me from Brooklyn to Jersey City. Because of a minor oversight Mike was unable to send me the quote or contact me. I did not know the circumstances and wrote a negative review because nobody got back to me. When Mike came to my home to prepare the quote we had a pleasant half hour or so. He's a friendly and warm person and we chatted freely. Perhaps that was a distraction and Mike forgot to get my contact information.  Whoever I originally talked to on the phone didn't collect it either.  So there's a very minor error that produced significant consequences; in this case an unsatisfied could-be customer and a bad review on Angie's List. I called Mike again and left my contact info. Mike sent me the quote as promised. I don't believe my experience with not having the quote sent to me is any reason to conclude that this vendor is not a good one. I make errors like that too and I don't think it indicated my work is substandard. I would give this vendor another opportunity to quote me work if the circumstance arrives.

I have moved a lot over the years, both nationally and internationally.  Mr. Fiore's company is truly exceptional.  They flawlessly performed what I can only describe as a beastly amount of work, on schedule, charging less than the estimate and less than the guaranteed maximum.  Nothing was broken, nothing was damaged.
Mr. Espinoza came to my house; he is a very pleasant and professional gentlemen who went through the house, asked all the relevant questions, checked every closet, checked the amount of silverware, stemware, pottery, clothing we had.  Clearly not his first rodeo.  The estimate was provided when promised.
I received competing bids from West Side Movers, FlatRate.com, Moving Man and Redline Movers, all based on their reviews.  Redline was cheaper, Flatrate was comparable but West Side had a winning element: a guaranteed maximum cost, no questions asked.  Basically, even Flatrate has some dubious language in their "flat rate" bid that, in effect, allows them to charge more if the need arises.  West Side had an unconditional guarantee that the total cost would not have exceeded a predetermined amount (which was about 15% more than the estimate).  That gave me peace of mind that I would not to the penny what my maximum outlay would have been.
Insurance certificates were delivered on time and the night before Mr. Fiore called me to make sure I did not have any questions or concerns.  A very nice touch!
At the scheduled time, on the dot, the crew showed up.  8 men, two huge trucks.  They immediately started breezing through my apartment, packing everything in site.  I was asked to identify things I did not want to have put in boxes and throughout the day I marked the boxes to show where they needed to go in the new house, because different items had to go on different floors. 
The crew was superb.  Professional, indefatigable; they started working as soon as they got into the apartment and never stopped until the lunch brake.  After the first 4 1/2 hours, already a lot of work had been done.  I had a lot of stemware, wine bottles; everything was carefully packed; nothing broke.
On the morning of the second day, the whole apartment  was packed.  Mr. Fiore has an amazing group of people.  Employees who were freed from other job came to lend a helping hand, thus increasing the number of people.  I was relaxed - remember, I had a maximum guaranteed amount.
On the way  out, we hit a snag with the couch.  After some inventive maneuvering, which required a substantial amount of strength, skill and ingenuity, the crew was able to fit the couch into the elevator. 
The apartment was left spotless, without a single mark on the wall. Off we where to the new house.
These poor men - they started carrying boxes and boxes of books, huge pieces of furniture and other items up one, two and three flights of stairs to the study or down to the basement.  They looked like old-time sherpas.  An incredible feat of strength and endurance.  Except for a couple of stray boxes, everything ended up where it was supposed to go, in the right room on the correct floor. Beds and other immediately necessary items were put back together to make us ready to sleep that night.
At the end of the job I was presented with a bill that was $500 less than the estimate!!  So cheaper than the competitors, and well within the guaranteed amount.
I gladly paid more than the 20% suggested tip.  The job was done flawlessly, nothing was broken, nothing was damaged, the paint was not scuffed, the crew was incredibly professional, courteous and with a good spirit.
If I ever have to move again - and I pray I won't have to - I will definitely use this company again.

Contacted them via phone, spoke to a very courteous gentleman Xavier.
We scheduled an appointment for the appraiser, Michael Espinosa, to come in.
No one showed up at the time of the appointment and there was no phone call.
My wife called the company 30 minutes after the agreed appointment time and was transferred to Mr. Esponosa, who seemed to be confused about the arrangement we made with his company. He then proceeded with the appraisal over the phone.
He then said it would take him a few hours to run the details thru the computer and he would email us the estimate by the end of the day.
There was no communication from him until the evening of the next day, unfortunately by that time, we have already selected another company.
His email with the estimate had someone else's name in the greeting... which then he apparently realized and corrected 10 minutes later, resending me the same estimate email with my name in the greeting. That, to me, simply adds to the low level  of professionalism.
I would not contact them again for any type of service.

Using the online form available on their website, I requested an estimate to move the contents of my two-bedroom NYC apartment. When I did not receive a response, I called West Side Movers the next day.  After inquiring about the status of my estimate, I was told, very brusquely, that they had not had time to respond, and that they would get back to me later that day.  I never heard back from them that day, nor ever again. Obviously, I decided to go with another mover, one who was willing to take the time to respond to a request for service.

It is easy to do a good job when things are going smoothly, but you really see what a company--in this case Matt Fiore and his amazing crew--is made of when there is a glitch or change of plan. When it looked like I would not be finished in time to get into my new building before the elevator went out of service for the evening, they not only went into overdrive but also agreed to put off moving my things to storage until the next day. Wow! Thanks, Matt. And when he forgot to process my $50 coupon, he credited me $100, fast. Efficient and generous:)

I found them very professional, although I was actually shocked at how much the ultimate bill was. They called in advance. They made sure that everything was running on time. The movers were nice guys. They were clean, and they didn’t leave a mess. My complaint really was that the estimate was $600 and I spent $1500. The communication by the foreman was excellent.

I wrote an email explaining the situation and received an answer that It would be reevaluated. They asked if I had my original RECIEPT. I certainly did and told them of my previous happy experience. No one ever got back to me. I have since hired Moishe's movers.

This move could not have been easier. Earl and his crew arrived exactly on time, and had our stuff packed and in the truck in an hour and a half. The four-person crew were a professional, polite, and really friendly group of guys - a pleasure to work with! They arrived at the new apartment quickly, and had everything unloaded and in place in record time! They were very careful with the antique and glass furniture, showing real respect for our belongings. They set up the bed and even removed my old mattress! The estimate I was provided earlier indicated a move of up to 7 hours, but the total time was actually only 4 1/2 hours!! The price was reasonable and the move much more affordable than we even thought it would be. West Side saved us time and money, and got the job done just perfectly!! We have already recommended them to a friend who hired them as well. 
Matt Fiore, the owner (with his Mom), was very responsive and professional through the whole process of planning the move, and his people really know what they're doing. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Thanks for a great job, Matt and crew!

West Side provided us with an honest estimate and assisted us in preparing for the move. They came on-time and worked efficiently, completing the move same-day. We used this company after finding a coupon on Angie's list.  The quote was $300 for three professional movers for four hours.  They were on time, worked quickly and were conscientious of our belongings. We booked them for four hours of which 1 hour was deducted for driving time to and from their headquarters.  We ended up with an additional charge for a fifth hour which was reasonable given the amount of boxes and items we had. We would recommend them.

West Side Movers broke and damaged my furniture. Some things were lost. Used packing materials, empty beverage bottles and cigarette butts were left all over my home. Totally unprofessional conduct. Even so, the movers will demand cash and a 20% tip. Extra charges and extra attitude for unpacking. West Side pretends to care, but any stingy compensation you might be offered will be in exchange for a promise not to review on Angie's List. Avoid West Side Movers like the plague. Angie, take West Side off your list! West Side uses a prior year's Angie's List award in their estimate which is totally misleading.

My coop required insurance that named me as an additional insured. When I tried to make a claim on the insurance, the insurance broker listed on the insurance certificate never returned my calls. When I finally spoke to the insurance company, they were very nasty and told me that they intentionally omitted disclosures in the insurance certificate that eliminated coverage for my furniture. As an attorney, I think this is fraud. In addition, it took several attempts before West Side filled out the insurance certificate properly. West Side also waited until the last minute to provide the certificate, just adding to the stress.

We were called by you to relocate you to a hotel and place your items in storage while repairs were done. We have tried to work with you in the best way we know how. Although initially you wrote ‘Overall, my move went well and I particularly thought that Patrick, the older fellow, did an excellent job with all of my delicate things, you complained that some of our movers used your expensive soap to wash their hands and left a soda can with cigarette butts on the floor. Although none of our movers smoke, and there were contractors working in your apartment, I personally agreed to take $100 off of your storage bill-- which you agreed to. In an attempt to satisfy your claim that we damaged your furniture we sent a highly skilled furniture restorer to fix all the damages you stated we caused-- which cost us $500 out of pocket. In addition, you are requesting another $600, threatening that if we did not do so you would write a bad review on Angie's List. With all due respects, we feel that we have acted professionally and honorably.
