Established in 1999, Hub Plumbing & Mechanical is a locally owned and operated plumbing and heating company located in the heart of New York City's West Village. We took over the business of Philip George Plumbing after Phil sadly passed away. We still provide the type of personal service that his clientele were used to, and John Wood, the owner and his dog Chief are a fixture in the neighborhood. We offer a full range of plumbing, heating, and drain cleaning services, and John is personally available to deal with any estimates and service issues.

"THIS IS A STRANGE REVIEW, GIVEN THAT IT CAME IN NEARLY A YEAR TO THE DATE AFTER THE ESTIMATE WAS ORIGINALLY PERFORMED. THE TECHNICIAN THAT RESPONDED WAS A 20 YEAR VETERAN PLUMBER, FULLY LICENSED. HE WAS INFORMED THAT IT WOULD BE CONSIDERABLY MORE INVOLVED THAN HE ANTICIPATED TO INSTALL HIS HIGH-END BOSCH UNIT. MANY CUSTOMERS THINK LAUNDRY MACHINES CAN SIMPLY BE PIPED INTO A SINK, BUT THE TRUTH IS THAT MASS. CODE DICTATES THAT THEY HAVE THEIR OWN CONNECTION DIRECTLY TO THE SOIL STACK. UNFORTUNATELY, HIS SITUATION WAS THIS."
"WE DO NOT BASE OUR PRICES ON AN HOURLY RATE, AND THIS IS TOLD TO THE CUSTOMER OVER THE PHONE WHEN THEY BOOK THE CALL, AND ALSO BEFORE ANY WORK IS DONE. THE CUSTOMER HAS EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE US DO THE WORK, OR NOT. WE ALSO DO NOT GO HUNTING FOR OTHER WORK IN THE HOUSE, WE CONSIDER IT OUR DUTY TO INFORM OUR CUSTOMERS OF ISSUES BEFORE THEY BECOME PROBLEMS. MOST CUSTOMERS SEE THIS AS A VALUABLE SERVICE IN COMPARISON TO OTHER PLUMBERS THAT IGNORE OTHER CONDITIONS SO THAT THEY CAN COMPLETE THE JOB AND THEN MOVE ON TO THE NEXT. REGARDING CODE ISSUES, WE ABSOLUTELY GO TO GREAT ENDS TO INFORM CUSTOMERS OF CODE ISSUES IN THEIR HOME, FOR THE SAME REASON ABOVE. IT WOULD BE RIDICULOUS FOR US NOT TO BECAUSE OUR LICENSE IS ULTIMATELY ON THE LINE. WE HAVE BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR YEARS AND HAVE A STRONG AND LOYAL CUSTOMER BASE. I'M SORRY THIS CUSTOMER FEELS THIS WAY, BUT MANY PEOPLE DON'T LIKE TO HEAR THAT THEY HAVE MAJOR PROBLEMS IN THEIR HOME."
