To the plus, Blackman has the best showroom in Manhattan and that's why we decided to purchase the fixtures for our bathroom renovation there. Their prices are pretty good for a brick and mortar as well and they do contractor discounts. While most of the fixtures for our renovation were delivered on schedule and were correct. There were several issues that have caused me to give them a lower rating. Our initial order was placed in December of 2013 for a February 2014 construction date. The items were to be held in Blackman's warehouse until delivery was necessary. This time frame was within all of the lead times advised by the various manufacturers. When I gave the go ahead to deliver, I was advised that the toilet we had ordered was still in Germany. This was quite a problem as we had a very tight renovation schedule and the plumbing in our building necessitated a rear outlet, non- pressure assisted toilet. There is a very limited selection of these, since most modern toilets are bottom outlet and/or pressure assisted. After considerable scrambling about on my part, I found a toilet from a different supplier in Manhattan that was delivered within a couple of days and Blackman issued a credit to me. The next problem we encountered was with the shower/tub faucet and valve. When it was being installed the contractor contacted me and informed me that the delivered mixing valve was incorrect. When contacted, Blackman was unable to deliver the correct mixing valve in a timely manner, so I ended up sourcing the proper one online and having it shipped for next day delivery. Again, a credit was issued. The last and most serious issue occurred when my contractor called and said that a three hole sink instead of a one hole sink had been delivered. As the manufacturer's lead time on this item was approximately 6 weeks, we were stuck and had to go with a three hole sink fixture instead of the single hole fixture we ordered. To their credit, Blackman overnighted the three hole fixture we selected, so we'd stay on schedule. To summarize, they've got a great showroom, the people are nice and responsive, but the attention to detail is lacking. Admittedly, I should have went over the initial purchase order with a fine toothed comb. However, I made the mistake of assuming the rep I dealt with would make sure everything was correct. In the future, I would still purchase from Blackman, but would not make that mistake again.
