We moved into a new place and found out that one of the outlets in the office was dead. We received quotes from two other Angie's List vendors and had one come in for an assessment. The vendor which came in took down our ceiling fan and told us that the connection to the dead outlet was cut and used to feed power to the fan in our ceiling fan. The initial vendor that came in spent 30-45 minutes to assess the issue and we were told that we would have to open up the wall to fix the dead outlet. Once we were told that we had to open up the wall we wanted a second opinion.
We had AVA come in today and within 30 minutes we were told the same exact thing the aforementioned vendor said. However, AVA told us that we did not have to open up the wall. We were told that the wiring just had to be reconnected. It was about the same time spent in assessing the issue as the vendor mentioned above. However, the assessment was completely different. 
AVA provided us a very competitive hourly rate as compared to the hourly rates we were provided by the first two Angie's List vendors we reached out to. Additionally, the electrician which came was personable, professional and to the point.
We will definitely go with AVA again in the future and would recommend them as a vendor.

Lucas was polite, prompt and consistent.  He reviewed the job with me in advance, set a price (accounting for Angie's List coupon), and a timetable for completion.
It was certainly a small job, but he was very professional (as was his assistant).
I am writing this review 2 years after the fact (I forgot...but wanted to acknowledge his good work), so I also may not recall the exact price (might have been closer to $300)...but regardless, he gave a price that was reasonable and stuck to it.
I definitely plan to call AVA when I have my next electrical need.

They did a very good job.  They gave me an estament for a future project that was reasonable. They were very professional and explained everything to me very clearly step by step so I was able to understand what was happeneing.  I felt like I had a family member working with me.  I even talked to a family member who is an electrition out side of your area who agreed that this provoders pricing was reasonable.

I called on a holiday for general information and a ball park estimate. Lucas not only answered the call but came that same day to give me an estimate since I was off from work. He was knowledgeable and professional. I asked about a special that I noticed on Angie's list and he told me that it was applicable. Even before applying the special from Angie's List, the original phone estimate was more reasonable than previous places that I called. We schedule the job for that Saturday. Unfortunately it snowed that morning but not only did Rich still come but he was parked out front 15 minutes earlier than our scheduled time. I was pleased with the work done and have already begun telling friends about my experience.

I called Lucas to get a free estimate before Christmas, the technician's name is Richard. He is very experienced and onsited ontime. He explained clearly to me about the scope of the work and how much was the cost.
After getting my gas cooktop, I scheduled service with Lucas by sms.
Then the service was done today, Richard was ontime as always, the work was very nice and finished quickly. He cleaned up everything in the end.
I got an invoice with clear statement about what was done.
The whole experience is great, call/sms communication is very smooth, so easy to make schedule, the technician is always ontime and professional, the price is reasonable.
Another great thing is that they use high quality part! The model of the GFCI outlet is Legrand 1595W, I like the brand and it looks great!

The original outlet was only for lighting and shorted out the night before the service.  The Local volunteer Fire department came and pulled the box to check for attic smoke of fire, ruining the local wiring which was over 70 years old. AVA cam, cut back the leads to a new , clean connection and installed a new Fan Box and installed a fan previously purchased.
This was my second time using Ava electric and both went great.

So happy with the service.  Lucas did not have the "pull-chain" mechanism so actually took the time to go to the store and get one -- the entire process (including his trip to the store) took less than one hour.  Also, when I placed the initial service call the day before, I received a message that someone would get back to me in 1/2 hour -- which he did.  So punctual and professional -- and fair.

The ONLY guy I ever spoke to was someone named Richard.  I spoke to him on thurs. 7/31, explained the electricity is there but want a new fixture with a ceiling fan.  My contractor won't begin the demolition till the electricity is set.  He says he is presently doing a big job but will be there wed. 8/6 by 8 and will knock it out no prob.  Shows up at 9:30 says he can't do it because he needs a special ceiling piece (ceiling fan mount). Instead gives me an estimate for $400 that includes an outlet repair.  Agrees to Mon 8/11.  Sat 8/9 calls to say he has another big job and can't come mon but will come wed. 8/13 at 8:00 am.  Calls sun 8/10, says the job was cancelled and he WILL come mon at 8.  On Monday he shows up in a s***** little economy car at 11:00 WITHOUT the ceiling fan mount.  I ask "Do you even have a ladder in there?"  Then he LEAVES to go to HOME DEPOT for the part.  Returns to say they don't have the part but he can still do it.  He does some wiring, comes downstairs and asks to be paid for the day.  I say no, we agreed on a price for the job.  He says "Thats not what Lucas says".  Who the H*** is Lucas I ask?  Now he writes up an estimate for the job.  There is NO information about the company on this estimate< NONE!  It says only that payment in full is due upon completion.  I tell Richard I will call him when the contractor is done for the final fixture installation.  RICHARD starts calling and calling me to see when he can come back and finish the job.  Finally I set him straight explaining that HIS games are the reason construction had to be postponed for so long. The contractor finally begins two days later and asks me who did the electrical because it is so shotty and not up to code from what he can see. This was the final draw for me.  I call an electrical inspector to evaluate the work done.  He confirms in writing for me that poor quality of the work.  I hire another electrician to do the final installation.  Call to Tell Richard the bad news, offer to pay him $100 for the work he did and the again he says "LUCAS is not going to be happy".  Last chapter, I get a threatening phone call from the infamous RICHARD threatening to put a LEIN on my house.  Glad my bro is a lawyer, learned to record every conversation and document it all.  BE CAREFUL WITH THIS BUNCH OF BOZOS

"My name is Lucas Papantoniou and I am the owner of AVA Electrical and Lighting Services. I would like to start by pointing out that Angie's List was contacted by us months prior to this review being posted. We asked Angie's List if their was something they can do to have this issue resolved between the member and us, the service provider. Angie's list said they could not do anything. Angie's claims to weed out bad contractors in order to protect consumers which is a great thing, but Angie's doesn't do anything to protect service providers. Angie's "collects reviews" even if the review is not accurate. Business's such as the Better Business Bureau will contact a business to hear their side of the story prior to posting a complaint. Due process may be something that Angie's should start incorporating into their review process. We have many happy customers through Angie's and a handful of those reviews in which some may view as negative, we view and try and learn from them. Those reviews help us improve or services. On 7-31-14 we were contacted by member and scheduled an estimate only. On day of scheduled estimate, Richard arrived at members home on time and yes, in his car which he drives to all scheduled estimates. Richard went over the job and quoted a price in which the member agreed to. Both parties agreed to have the work done on 8-13-14. Both parties also agreed that if Richard could get there at an earlier date that he would contact member. As it so happened, on 8-11-14 an appointment opened up and Richard contacted member. Both parties agreed that the work would be done on 8-11-14 after Richards first appointment of the day. On 8-11-14 Richard arrived at members home and completed all work necessary for member to continue with her construction project. Member never expressed any dissatisfaction during the course of work on 8-11-14. Richard asked for a partial payment and told member that the balance would be due after construction was complete and he returned to install members ceiling fan. Member said she would pay full balance when Richard retuned to install her ceiling fan. Member said she would contact us when construction was complete and that construction would be completed that same week. Richard agreed and did not receive any form of payment on 8-11-14. After several weeks of not hearing back from member, Richard reached out with a phone call. Member said her contractor hung her fan and she would pay Richard the sum of 100.00 for his time and hung up the phone. This amount was not the quoted price. This was the last conversation between Richard and member. As far as shoddy work. Existing wiring was relocated into a fan rated box at an increased height due to the ceiling being reconstructed into a vaulted type ceiling. To this day, no payment was ever received by us from this member. Richard is a Navy Veteran, a retired electrical instructor, a husband and a father. The insults in this review which may or may not appear speak volumes about Angie's and their review process."

I told Lucas my problem and he recommended I call the electric company (PSEG LI) to look into the problem and that should save me a lot of money. He offered to stop by first thing Monday morning if I didn't get a good response from PSEG LI. In the end, PSEG LI took care of the problem at no cost to me. Lucas could have come and charged me for the work, or at least an assessment. I commend his integrity and professionalism in not taking advantage of the situation. I will definitely call him for future projects.

it went very well and right on schedule that he gave me. very happy with the price and the job. other company going to charge us double the price and the ridiculous part ... the surge protector only $65 component and the other company going to charge us $400!!!!. Definitely going to reconsider to use Ava electrical company again to our updating projects in our house.
