I stopped by Wendel Home Center after reading reviews on Angie's List.
Don Hoffman showed me awnings on display right in the store as well as sample fabrics. He explained all the features and warranty details, along with giving me a general estimate of what it would cost, then set up an appointment for the following week to measure.
He arrived promptly for our meeting, measuring and giving me an total cost which ended up to be slightly less than what we had spoken about in the store, as I needed a slightly smaller awning.
We looked over sample fabrics.
Don was extremely knowledgeable.
He told me the final order would be processed in 3 days, and then my awning would be constructed by a company in Pennsylvania and ready for install in three weeks.
Just under three weeks later I got a call from Anna to arrange for installation.
She also called the night before the project to confirm.
I was told to expect the installers to arrive between 9 and 11 am, and that the install would take about 3 hours.
Arthur and Gabriel arrived at approx. 9:30 and were done by 11.
They were polite, professional and knowledgeable about the project. They worked quickly and efficiently, cleaning up after themselves as they worked.
Arthur made sure I understood the proper way to open and close my awning. It is easy to do!
I chose a manual model as my awning is not overly large, but a motor could have been added for less than $700.00... A feature one might want for a larger awning.
The finished product looks beautiful!!
I think my neighbors will all be wanting one too :)
I would recommend Wendel Home Center to anyone with a remodeling or home improvement project.

My house is GORGEOUS! Complete siding, windows, pillars. Beautiful job! Ahhhh breath!
OK, go wherever you have to go first. Get it out of your system,
because when you get to Wendel Home Center it will be your last stop. Then
again, why waste your time just go to Wendel Home Center first and save
yourself the time and trouble. They are so nice with no pressure and
always go the extra mile. Just easy and smooth. They are a family owned and operated business and make you feel like you are part of the family and when it’s all over you'll actually miss them. The whole staff is wonderful from the
receptionists out front to the owners. (Beautiful showroom).
The customer service is unbelievable and Bill Jr. (my contact) is a doll. He worked with me so patiently from start to finish, and believe me I can be very indecisive. You can always call with a question without feeling like you are annoying or that they're trying to avoid you. Remember, no renovation comes without its share of anxiety, but they were always able to assure me that it would all workout the way I wanted it to, and the best way, and it did. A problem is no problem for Wendel Home Center.
I was very comfortable all the way through my renovation.
If I sound like I’m tooting their horn, I am. Give credit where credit is due.
Remember no matter what kind or quaity (price) of siding you choose or job you'er doing, the job is only as good as its installers. Wendel’s installers are experienced and knowledgeable and they all worked well together. I was introduced to the foreman before my job was started (that's a plus) and he was always on the premises and Bill Jr. often stopped by to make sure everything was going OK or if I called him. All in all, so far... perfect job! My neighbors keep asking who did my house. I still have doors to choose???
Anyway I'm done. Just go to Wendel Home Center and see for yourself. You've got nothing to lose and a great contractor to gain. I'm a happy camper.

AWNING
The order was placed on May 29, 2013. We had explained the need for the awning to be delivered since we were removing two large trees in our yard and needed some shade on the deck for the summer. On July 13, 2013 the awning was installed. The workers were polite, clean, and efficient. An explanation on using the awning; removal of the valance for the winter; care and cleaning were offered, as well as manual use in an emergency. We were able to start using and enjoying the awning immediately. The next sub-contractor we met was the electrician. He arrived earlier than anticipated and was pleasant, competent, very hard-working, and did a clean job. He installed a power jack and completed an attic installation so the deck outlet could be used for other things.
WINDOWS
Windows were installed September 5,6,7,9,and 10 of 2013. Household furnishings and window treatments were handled carefully. Any concern that was expressed was immediately remedied. The windows have grids and I was uneasy about appearance of some of them. The foreman immediately paid attention and called person at store to express my concerns. I was assured that if not satisfied upon completion, there would be replacements. One screen arrived damaged on day one and a new one was ordered and installed by the final day of work. During the time the dining room window was being installed I noticed a small ceiling crack, above the window, and what appeared to be water stains. The foreman went up on the roof and found that the flashing was damaged. He immediately fixed it. I HAVE TO SAY I WAS EXTREMELY IMPRESSED AND GRATEFUL!! The bow window required several helpers to get into the house and install. It's really beautiful and everything I had asked for. This is the second time we have installed replacement windows but his time when I questioned anything during the final walk-through it was taken care of. There are areas around the windows requiring some and quot;touch-upand quot; painting and of course, the bow window area needs a primer and two coats of paint.
FIBERGLASS DOOR and STORM DOOR
The fiberglass door was installed on September 5,2013. I immediately noticed a small imperfection between the glass. The foreman took a photo of it and notified the store that a replacement was needed. I was shown how to use the keypad and emergency key. A new bell was put on the door. I ordered a two tone door with a darker outside and lighter inside. I'm very pleased with the appearance. On October 7, 2013, the storm door, replacement glass on the front door, and the pilasters were installed.
This was a big job and took about four months for completion. People in a hurry would obviously have difficulty with this. For me I think back to the last time I replaced windows. It was quick, messy, and of course, needed to be replaced again.

In all, the saleslady and staff are very nice people, they have a good product, price was good, and the installation was excellent. I have no qualms in recommending them to anyone.

Then installation was done very well and they cleaned up after themselves. There was nothing more I could hope for from this group.

The only other complaint was they removed the wood under the sofit without consultation (although rotted) and cost $1,500 more to replace with new. I wish that possibility was discussed up front.
So far no issues with any of the installs (no roof leaks, doors and windows work well, etc.). The cost of the job was ok but realize they have to make money too. Like with any job of this size, it's a little stressful and takes time to manage the contractor, but overall they did a fantastic job and was happy to find that the final job was what I expected.
It is not too often that you get what you should expect in home improvement jobs.
I would highly recommend, Bill and his team to anyone.
