We hired Pat and his team to demolish and rebuild a home. In the planning stages, things seemed fine but as the job continued and ran over schedule, it became impossible to deal with him and his staff. First, Pat's team ordered 5 sets of the wrong color French doors, despite multiple emails stating that we wanted black. Pat's response? "Just paint them". When we had our floors installed and stained, I showed Pat's foreman that the thresholds of all the doorways weren't done, he looked me right in the eye and told to do it myself. I had to call the floor guy and ask him to come back to fix the job. After the floors were done, Pat sent in his drywall guys who got spackle all over the newly finished floors. Pat's team never turned off the house water during construction so the pipes in the basement froze and burst. We had to replace them all and deal with water damage. His team also used a disconnected toilet and left us to deal with the clean up. Pat's had duct work done in the basement that we specifically said we didn't want and then expected us to pay for it. When our new appliances arrived no one was there to accept them and his office refused to send someone to install the door lock to secure the house. My husband had to come from work to drill a hole and install the lock. Pricing for built in cabinets was "misquoted", so Pat didn't want to build them. Pat sent us to CT to "his guy" to buy kitchen cabinets and the man totally botched the job. Knowing that re-ordering cabinets would set back the completion of the job by weeks, Pat tried to convince us to keep the cabinets even though the plumbing didn't line up and we would have to climb the counters to open windows. We had to fight with his guy to get the right cabinets reordered. No sorries or we will make this right. No apologies that we had to put off selling our house and postpone our move. Nope! Instead, Pat called me screaming that because of the delay, he would put a lien on our house. (More on that in a moment). Fighting with his staff to get final details like shutters was a nightmare too. The "project manager" didn't know the difference between gutters and shutters. (Yes, I am serious.) When the job was complete and we got our c/o, we paid Pat the entirety of what he was owed immediately. And guess what Pat Morrissey did anyway? He put a lien on our house on August 1st (the day his team wrote us to say they received the check). So if you want your name maligned by a contractor who doesn't stand by his word, will steer you the wrong way and will not fix the mistakes he made, use Pat. By the way, I still have all the emails and pictures to back this up in case anyone is wondering.

Pat and team helped us realize our vision for the gourmet food store we just opened. From the get go Pat was a thought partner who helped adding important definition to our plan. His professional and responsive team worked through all the challenges along the way and deliver the project within the realistic timeframe Pat established at the start of the project. The trades sub-contractors (electrician, plumber, etc.) were also top-notch. We will not hesitate to hire Pat and team again for both commercial and residential construction projects. Thank you Pat and team!

It went very well. Pat and the team did a great job. The crew was great! Kept everything very clean and worked in very tight quarters. Pat and the team made a few suggestions to better integrate the addition to the house. The addition looks like it was always there - which is one of the best things that I can say about a contractors work! They installed heated floors and the room is mostly windows so has great warmth and my family spends a lot of time in this room. Very happy with their work and would use them again without hesitation.
Description of Work: Tore down existing porch and added on sun room.

It was right before the Sandy. I called them a couple of weeks after the storm and told them I realize that it was probably not a good time because of that and they said that it was and to give them another week or two, but then we never heard back from them. He was prompt in returning my call when I made my initial call, they set up a time quickly to come out, he spent a lot of time looking through the home and looking at the drawings and made suggestions. He seemed very pleasant and gave us information and all. Initially it was great. If I had any comments, it would be the lack of follow up.
Description of Work: P Morrissey Contracting came to look at the job and were supposed to give us an estimate for doing an extensive extension work on our home. Two bathroom renovations, moving stairs, and a kitchen renovation but they never replied back.

We never did any work for this customer, Angie's list is based on work done! We experienced great back logs trying to help customers effected by hurricane Sandy whose homes were destroyed due to the storm. We provide FREE estimates, however due to the volume of people who needed our services from the storm we missed a few estimates trying to help others. After the follow up call they made, we never heard from them again. We are just now finishing up the storm rebuilds with many people very happy with our services and back in their homes. This is a ridicules non review!

Pat was instrumental in the design of the patio. We were concerned that an old Japanese maple would have to be removed to make way for the patio, instead Pat incorporated it into the design. His crew was extremely neat and were here on time each morning. The job was completed ahead of schedule and on budget. We had previously used Pat to renovate our home and would use him again. We plan on having him come back to replace a stone retaining wall and reconfigure some other hardscape in the front of the house. We highly recommend Pat and his team.
Description of Work: Pat's crew built a beautiful bluestone patio in my back yard. In addition to the patio, his crew built a stone kneewall which perfectly matches the stone foundation of our very old house.

This was a project 6-month project requiring a great deal of coordination and communication and yet ran seamlessly. The contractor was quick to respond to all questions and resolve issues/concerns. The contracting staff and all sub-contractors were neat, flexible and dependable. A great working relationship between the architect and the contractor. The project finished ahead of time and on budget. We could not have had a more positive experience from start to finish.

I have used P. Morrissey Contracting on four seperate projects - everything from adding on an additional floor to our house to remodelling the kitchen to repairing the damage caused by a water leak. No matter how big the job, Pat and his crew were professional and easy to work with. Pat was always accessible if I had questions. Pat completed all the projects on time and within the budget. I LOVED that the crew cleaned up at the end of each work day. Pat and his crew were sensitive to the privacy and needs of our family as we havea handicapped child. The crew would plan each day's work to minimalize the impact on our daughter's therapy. I would hire Pat for any project and would recommend him to anyone who is looking for a contractor who does good work and can be trusted.

The last job I used P Morrissey Contracting was to repair the damage caused by a water leak in the shower basin. Although the job was small, it required the use and coordination of many different trades- tile installers, plumbers, shower door installation, painter and contractor. Pat's office scheduled all the trades in an efficient manor so that we were without a bathroom for a minimal amount of time. All of the trade workmen were very nice and professional.

We couldn't have been happier with the process. We had renovated our previous home and it was a disaster - people wouldn't show up, work had to be redone. But with Pat's crew it was completely different, they were there every day, they were neat, they explained what they were going to be doing, and they confirmed every detail to make sure there we no issues. Anytime there was an issue, such as the beam the previous owner removed or when we discovered that one of the exterior walls had no sheathing under the existing clapboards, Pat was quick to explain the issue, and propose how to solve it. The changes required were always discussed first and the prices for the changes were always very reasonable. I think its a testament to Pat's work that one of his other clients sought out his other clients and hosted a party at her house so that they could all show their appreciation for the wonderful work Pat had done for each of them.
Description of Work: Pat and his crew completely renovated my house. They converted my unfinished attic into a play room for my children and also added a bedroom and bathroom as well as building a new staircase up to the new space. He renovated each of the bathrooms, moved and rebuilt my kitchen and built a new master suite over an existing one floor addition. He removed the old inefficient baseboard heat and replaced it with a new forced air system that incorporated central air conditioning. Every window in the house was replaced (they now open and close in the same season!).

Full and thorough inspection of all areas to be worked on; in depth oral explanation of problems and suggestions, including recommendations of things that did NOT need to be done, or could be done slightly cheaper; estimate in writing in full, and the estimate became the final price, with the exception of two additions requested after the work had been commenced, which were separately priced and performed in the same way as the originally-contracted for work. All employees were thoughtful, diligent, clean, polite, timely, and the job was finished in a dedicated and professional manner. I have already recommended the firm to several friends for work to be done in the future. I will use the firm again for any work I have to do on my home in the future.

The contractor came very highly recommended, so I had very high expectations. They did a good job on the new construction, and the outside, but we weren't crazy about the interior work. We felt that the oversight of the job was not great (they failed to insulate some flooring, several of the bathroom fixtures they put in came loose very quickly, and when we went to fix them, we saw sloppy work, ie, they only used one screw instead of two, or didn't screw into a stud. We also did not like the work of the subcontractors on the job. .

We were not given any opportunity to correct the alleged problems listed by this customer, if fact viewing the Angie's list comments was the first time we became aware of these problems. I find it somewhat puzzeling that this customer asked us to do some additional interior work in their home when we were building an addition for a neighbor last year without mention of any of the complaints listed above. This project was staffed with an experienced project manager, we take exception to the statement that the oversight was poor.We take great pride in our customer service, however we must be made aware of any issues our our customers have.

In a word, I didn't believe that contractors like Morrissey existed. If you can believe it, he completed the job ahead of schedule and under budget! Having worked with them twice now, Pat Morrissey and his team are incredibly knowledgeable and have skills that I have not seen in any other contractor. More than that, they are a high-integrity company. Whenever there was a problem or a snag, as there always are in projects this extensive on an older home, it was handled immediately and professionally. There were never any sneaky up-charges or "unexpected" expenses. His work crews were courteous, professional and work endlessly to get the job done. In fact, i would say that their expectations for the work product exceeded mine. That is, they were never satisfied until it was done to their very exacting standards. Pat, the owner, was always stopping in to talk to us, check in on progress and make sure that the work was done to his satisfaction. In fact, there was an incident where Pat was not pleased with something even though it was what the kitchen designer had ordered. He counseled us on a better way to proceed and made the changes at his own cost. Having worked with him and his team twice now, I can say that he has completely redefined what one can expect from a contractor. Not only was the work excellent, we also found his office staff to be helpful, responsive and efficient. DOs: - Use him! I know it must sound like I am a family member but I am not. Just a very satisfied customer. DONTs: - Shop for a cheaper deal. Yes, his quote was slightly higher than others. However, not only does the quality of his work warrant the extra investment, he also stays within budget --even at his own expense. As I said, for both jobs, there were no up-charges snuck in at any time. As always, you get what you pay for.
Description of Work: I had asked Pat and his team to renovate parts of my 1941 colonial home as well as build a carriage house on my property. The town in which we live is very picky about permits and architectural elements --so I needed a contractor that could meet these requirements as well as build what we were looking for. In the end, he essentially tore down about half of the house, renovated that as well as built a separate carriage house that needed to appear as if it was built at the same time as the original home. This process took about 6 months.
