These guys were great. The salesman car to the site, gave me a price I thought reasonable so we got it setup. Alex and crew showed up when they said they would and the whole crew was neat clean and pleasant to talk to. Professionals, they went straight to the task and were VERY neat, considering the material they were dealing with. They kept the noise and any disruption to an absolute minimum and worked quickly but thoroughly. I would without question use this company again and would recommend them to anyone that asked. A VERY pleasant and professional company to work with.

Just had my crawlspace encapsulated. Gabriel, the company’s rep was very knowledgeable and was able to explain what work was needed and the cost thereof. Carlos and his crew were very professional and did a great job. The crew was able to get the job done ahead of schedule. Would recommend this company to neighbors and family.

hBS originally installed my pumps and has serviced them. As part of my recent service, the technician (Justin) noted that one of my pumps was end of life. He was very descriptive regarding the nature of the problem and educating me as to my options. I opted to replace the pump which he did same day. He kept me informed every step of the way. Good experience. I can’t comment on pricing bc I did not ask anyone else to bid the work but the cost seemed reasonable in light of the work.

I absolutely would NOT recommend Healthy Basement Systems systems to anyone!! Such a horrible experience. I had Gabriel (salesman) come to my house after numerous episodes of flooding in our basement we were starting to renovate. He did his inspection and I showed him pictures of where the flooding was. He said it was "unusual" but that it would be resolved by installing a French drain/sump pump/water guard. We agreed on a price and set up an appt for the crew to come and install it. Fast forward to a few days later when Nick and the crew come to install it. Nick talked to me and told me he didn't feel comfortable installing what was recommended because he didn't think it would fix our issue. But he spoke to his boss (I'm assuming Bill) and he was told to install it anyway. Half way through as Nick was digging he said it was completely dry and again, didn't think this was going to help us. But again, he was told to finish it. THE JOB SHOULD HAVE BEEN STOPPED HERE!! But they were told by their company to install the system, so they did. Fast forward- over the next week after installation I had my basement flood 3 more times!! 2 of those times various members of the crew had come to my house to inspect, and it was determined that the system that was installed was bone dry. It never caught a single drop of water. It was a completely useless system. I kept sending the company pictures after every flood, showing them pictures of the flooding in the exact same location as before we paid them to fix it. And every time we spoke they had a different idea of what was "definitely" the problem and what would "definitely" fix it. First it was definitely the penetron that would fix it. Then it was a lateral that would definitely fix it. Then it was definitely removing the little piece of cement near the sump pump that would fix it. Then it was the wall space that would definitely fix it. It is evident that this company has no clue what would actually fix my continuous flooding, but they took thousands of dollars from me and promised me a warranty that they now aren't upholding. They agreed to install a lateral under the warranty, scheduled a crew to come, and then after they got to my house with the supplies BACKED OUT because the owner Bill told the crew not to bother installing it. I have continuously asked for a refund as I need to now pay another company to do the work they agreed to do and were paid to do, but HBS will not refund the thousands I paid them for a problem they failed to fix. UPDATE 12/11/2020 I had another company come in and inform us that the system installed was completely unnecessary in fixing our water issues, and HBS sold us something we didn't need. After arguing back and forth HBS agreed to remove the system if I took down my negative reviews. When sending their crew back we were informed they now couldn't remove the system because of metal studs put up in front of the system. I offered to take them down but was told no and they would need to come back. Now I'm told that they won't come back to remove it unless I pay them another $750! Or my other option is to keep the useless system that I NEVER NEEDED and they would only refund me half, just incase I suddenly develop an issue that will require a sump pump. Ummmm what??? Yes please let me keep a $3000 system that literally does nothing for me. This company should be ashamed!! They put in a system I never needed to make $3000 off me, acknowledged it, and now are trying to scam me out of more money!! I was told that I should just be happy to have a dry basement... and when I told them their company had nothing to do with helping my basement to stay dry I was told it shouldn't matter how I got it. I would never have been in this situation if they didn't try to rip me off from day 1. I will be pursuing this in small claims court. STAY AWAY from them at all cost!!

Experience was very good. However. I have still not received a detailed quote for the job. I think our salesman was a bit turned off by the fact that we were in a rush to leave with our children after he was in our home for over over an hour and a half. We didn’t need the sales pitch. We like the product and your reputation. If you could please send a detailed quote it would be much appreciated. If we don’t receive it we will be forced to look elsewhere for basement waterproofing.
Description of Work: We needed a quote on basement waterproofing. After the past two large storms. We were able to pinpoint where the water was coming in. We have been researching basement waterproofing contractors and this particular contractor comes up frequently.

This Company had come recommended to us and the Initial work seemed good ...but then we had two more instances of heavy rain and the basement had more water coming in....twice. It turned out that the Company had failed to accurately diagnose the source of the water coming in, and therefore had not recommended the correct design/layout of the system the first time. in fact, it was another contractor that finally identified the real source, so we then had to have additional costly work done by Healthy Basement to finally fix it, in addition to having to incur additional costs to have the basement refinished again...twice. During the 2nd time we had water (post the initial work), the Company was not responsive at all in helping to remediate the water damage and the Manager (Bill) was extremely unprofessional and inappropriate in how he talked to my wife (who was of course understandably upset about the water in the basement). That all said, we have not had any further water issues since the 2nd fix....but it was a very unpleasant and expensive experience and because of this, I would not be able to recommend this business to others.

We do apologize for any inconvenience, however, the [Member Name Removed] home had a basement AND a crawlspace connected. There was water in the basement in several areas which we did diagnose but when I proposed some work for the crawlspace they did not have the budget to do the space only the basement (they had just bought house understandably). Had that work gotten done we would have seen the area where water was coming in and ending up on one side of the basement where the bathroom was. We also recommended removing bathroom but because of cost we put our system "up to" which did not pick up that water. The long and short of it is that they needed more equipment which they did end up having to do in the long run. We were very responsive to the calls and sent out equipment and service people as quickly as possible. I apologize if there was any misunderstanding to Mrs. [Member Name Removed] as she wanted someone there immediately and taken as disrespect. We want everyone to have a good experience. We are happy that their extreme condition is finally solved.

I bought a home in which Healthy Basement Systems had already installed two sump pumps. Once I bought the home, I continued to use them for service. All I needed was the routine annual service. No other issues arose. A couple of weeks ago, my pumps started making a continuous alarm noise. I contacted the company to arrange for an appointment for them to check the nature of the alarm. Essentially, the company cannot make a service call for three weeks. So, I have a continuous alarm in my basement that presumably indicates a problem with a pump or the system and I can't get the company that installed it to come and look at it with any sense of urgency. The people I speak with are professional and respectful. They try and be helpful but they can't actually get the appointment expedited. Essentially, this company has been useless to me. I have to only hope that the alarm doesn't indicate anything important. UPDATE: 2/24/16 -- They did finally come. The technician diagnosed the problem and immediately repaired it. They did not charge me for changing the motor since the motor was replaced a year ago -- it was a week out of warranty. So, they replaced it without charge. I have improved my rating because they ultimately did the work and stood behind their previous work. However, I am extremely disappointed about how long it took to get them to come. What if I had a flooding issue in those three weeks, when the pump wasn't working?

Mr. [Member Name Removed] was scheduled for service then called us to troubleshoot an alarm. We had him scheduled for 3 weeks out which is our normal service schedule..sometimes longer. He had no water in basement just an intermittent alarm. Mr. [Member Name Removed] is not at the home all the time and our office was playing phone tag with him. When we did go there one of his pumps were not working and it was past the warranty. We replaced the pump at no charge despite being past warranty. It is unfortunate that Mr [Member Name Removed] would give us those reviews.

I had a serious mold remediation problem in my basement that needed to be addressed. I called more companies than I care to remember to get estimates on the remediation. Although I did not ultimately use Healthy Basement Systems, they were my clear second choice. As money was an issue, I went with an estimate that was a only a little bit lower and who also had strong positive reviews. However, I would not hesitate to call Healthy Basement Systems again if the need arose. They were prompt in responding and evaluating my situation. Their estimate was clear and detailed. I got the impression they were honest and knowledgeable. They followed up with me to see if there was anything additional I needed in terms of making a decision on the vendor, but in no way pressured me to use them. I can't speak to the quality of their work but the estimate and communication process was excellent and they left me with a very good impression.

Buyer beware! This company came over for a water issue I had in my basement .Mind you I am very critical of any reviews I post on Angie's List because I am also a small business owner with over 70 A-Plus reviews on this site . My problem was an issue with my cesspool . I discovered this after one of there salesman Ian gave me an estimate for over $8,500 to install a trench system in my basement and decided to get a second opinion. I called a local cesspool company and the issue was resolved for $330.00. I can not comment on this companies workmanship but trust my review there estimating practices are not forthcoming ! Shame on Healthy Basements for there dishonest practices!

Response from Healthy Basement Systems
First... let me apologize to all the Angie list members for the review from Mr. [Member name]. We pride ourselves on asking questions and carefully inspecting the spaces we have the privilege of going in. We spent quite a bit of time with an extensive inspection and pin point questions which we anticipate are accurate answers from the homeowner especially since he said he was a contractor. Below is Healthy Basement Systems analysis from our technician of 7 years here and in my opinion one of the best in the industry: Upon inspection of the basement, I noted 2 locations where water was pooling. These locations were on opposite sides of the basement, and appeared separate and distinct leaks. I also noted multiple areas on the walls were water staining was present and considerable efflorescence was visible. The walls had been painted, but the staining did not appear recent. I questioned the customer about his cesspool, the gutters and the grade around the house, all of which he stated was not an issue. He even mentioned that the leak was not "grey water", an industry term that he used due to his work in that field. Any hydro-static engineer would agree that a full cesspool is typically a symptom of a larger issue,i.e the pool unable to empty due to high water tables and saturated soil. This was confirmed by the seepage of water from walls not close to the cesspool. I gave the customer a proposal for a solution to the problem, based on the evidence and the customers response to my questions. In my opinion, pumping the cesspool, whilst necessary, will not solve the problem of water intrusion in this basement. In addition, Mr. [Member name] recommended us to one of his clients and they were so happy with our solution and workmanship that he had confidence to use us for his own home. So, we here at HBS are a little confused but still stand by our diagnosis.

From the opening sales presentation to the finished job, all was done in a efficient and professional manner. We were provided with information before the sales presentation in plenty of time so we would be able to understand the process that the job entailed. All questions were answered and the work process was stress free. The workers were on time and went out of their way to complete the job. One of the crawl spaces was difficult to access, but they made it look easy and replaced the wall panels without any difficulty.
Description of Work: Cleaned out 2 crawlspaces by removing old insulation. Treated both areas for mold prevention. Put new insulation on all walls in both areas. Installed new padding on crawlspace floors for dampness control. Removed all waste material and took it away with them when the job was finished. Sealed all outside vents for climate control.
