Description of Work: I have no complaint about their heating oil delivery but had to give them several days lead time for the delivery - this was ok. |I did mention that I wanted to talk to someone about buying an oil tank and was told someone would call me. No one did. I called again and the same thing happened again.

Description of Work: installed a 6" by 30' chimney insert for an oil fuel chimney. They are our regular delivery agent and do all our furnace services and still had the lowest bid to do the insert which they did not contract out and had it done in about 4 hours. Great job.

The Bove's serviceman called me back very quickly and explained he was on a service call in the north country and would take an hour to get to us which was fine and he showed up when he said. We had the oil trap clog before between servicing and they have come out after hours to help with that so I figured it was probably the same thing but I was wrong. He changed the trap but quickly discovered that the safety switch to shut the furnace down when the flame goes out FAILED so when it lost flame, due to a clogged trap, the pump did NOT turn off so that the combustion chamber was now soaked in oil in the how ever many hours it ran before I shut it down. There was so much pumped in that it leaked out a little on the floor. This was now a tricky and dangerous situation to get it back up and running again since the combustion chamber is basically a giant wick designed to burn the oil off as it is fed in. A completely soaked chamber can burn out of control and to remove it to burn off the excess risks destroying it and that would have taken a couple days to order and replace. I was told what was going to happen, that he was going to spay oil emulsifier "Spray 9" in there, almost an entire bottle to break up some of the oil that he then sopped up with rags. He then was going to have to fire up the furnace to burn off the rest in a controlled fashion but it was going to smoke to the high heavens and let it run as long as possible until it burns clean or shuts itself off for overheating, then we would have to let it cool completely off so when re-ignited no fumes would be present because warm vapors could explode. Then repeat that process as many times as needed until it burns clean again. So he first replaced the failed safety switch with a better programmable unit and started the burn out process. He was not kidding, the smoke that came out into the basement and the flue was unbelievable, thick choking smoke but I was glad he knew what he was doing and warned me completely. I had already set up some strong fans to blow out the basement and then we used those same fans to help cool the furnace in between running it. After 3 cycles of burning the furnace until it shut it self off, then cooling it completely it started running clean again, all the while checking frequently what the burn was looking like in the chamber. Only after it was burning with no smoke coming out of the flue did he then he do the final adjustments to the burner for minimum pollution, maximum efficiency. He saved for us what could have been a greatly damaged 13 year old furnace. He then wouldn't even take payment since he was there 3 hours and was going to talk to the office to try and get me a discount on the labor hours he spent helping us out on a 20 degree day with no heat. He told me the office would bill me like they do for our deliveries. To tell you the truth, this is one bill I am not even going to look at, just pay. I will update the review, after I get the bill.
Description of Work: I was told I can review any company, even if I did not find them thru Angie's and/or I was a long time customer. Since we moved to Schaghticoke in 2000 Bove's has delivered our oil and serviced our furnace. Bove's do such a good job and are so reliable I don't think any amount of money would entice me to try anyone else. We woke up early on a cold Sunday with a cold house and a running furnace, I did not think much of it since we have a programmable thermostat set low and a woodstove on the 2nd floor. The heat was working when we went up to bed but when we came back down a hour later and the ground floor was still not warm and we could smell oil, we knew something was wrong. I shut our furnace off and called Bove's for an emergency service call.

Their prices are good, they're courteous and professional on the phone, and they show up when they say they will, work cleanly, and do things correctly. The delivery guy for the propane is always the same guy, he even knows my dog's name. When we've needed fuel in a big rush (our fault) they've been very helpful.
Description of Work: We use Bove for our residential cooking propane and heating oil, and for our farm greenhouse heat (separate propane tank) and off-road diesel. They've delivered propane tanks (a little 20g unit, and a large unit for the greenhouse) as well as filled and maintained the heating and diesel tanks.

Description of Work: We have had our gas service with G.A. Bove for a number of years now. Their prices have always been very competitive and many heating seasons, they have been able to provide the best prices of all the local providers. What sets them apart from the other providers, is their service. We purchased a 500 gallon tank from them when we started our service with them, and the level gage had stopped working on it. Since I am trying to sell the house, this was going to be an issue. G.A. Bove had definitely done right by me when they replaced the tank at no charge to me.If anyone is looking for a fuel provider, I highly recommend G.A. Bove. They are certainly the best in the Saratoga area.
