Established in 1994. After many years being in business, in July of 2007 we adopted new philosophy: "We should do only one thing, but we must do it really good." Since then, ductless mini split Systems, that is all we do! Carefully choosing right installers, constantly training, hand-picking quality materials and equipment - we want to make sure you get the best. By the end of 2008 we have installed more than 300 systems and became really proficient at it. That is because our technicians install ductless systems every single day (of course when weather permits). The initial estimate went very well.   Peter from Richair, came to our home, explained  how the system worked and the installation process.  He made suggestions as to size and placement of system, both inside and outside. With great patience, Peter took his time and  answered all our questions and concerns.  Peter was very professional and extremely knowledgeable.  When he left we felt confident that we had made the right decision in hiring Richair Comfort Solutions.   The installation by Paulo and Emir  went very smoothly.  You could tell that the installers were knowledgeable and experienced.  They were punctual, courteous and efficient. The installation was a two step process (since we were still doing construction on the basement and had to run the electrical line for the unit).  During the last visit, after the system  was c onnected, purged and checked,for quality installation, we were instructed on how to use the new system.  The customer care team  Demetri, the Service Manager and Amanda were also very knowledgeable and responded to our calls promptly and courteously.  All facets of our experience with Richair Comfort Solutions were very positive and met our expectations.

From day one our experience with RichAir has been outstanding.  After receiving 4
estimates, RichAir's was the best and the professionalism of the sales team
reinforced our decision.  After signing the contract we had some delay in
getting approvals from our building.  RichAir did what they could to
assist in the process and patiently waited as we attained the approval. 
The installation team was excellent and very professional.   The
workmanship was very outstanding, in fact my electrician went out of his
way to praise the way they did the job.
Of special note, I had hoped to put the outdoor unit further away from the
building, off my wood deck.  RichAir reviewed this and while
they said they could do it and it would be more money, due to the additional
coolant and piping, they strongly recommended that we not do it as it would
make the units less efficient.  I appreciated their professional opinion
and honesty.  Other vendors never mentioned an issue with putting it out
further. 
I would definitely use RichAir again and recommend them to anyone.

We have 2 Baxi 310fi tankless water heaters and furnace combos. Since they were installed, you were never able to adjust the temperature of the room using the thermostat. You had to walk down stairs and turn a knob on the unit. Most people I have called to try and fix the problem said they didn't work with this type of system. Those that did show up, couldn't figure it out.
I called Rich air comfort solutions and we set up an appointment. Because both units had the same problem, the said they would troubleshoot both for the price of one which was $129.95. 
The technician should up on time and diagnosed  the problem pretty quick. Apparently, both units are missing a component called a chrono-thermostat relay card. The technician called his boss to find out how much it would cost to install this part and the quote I got was roughly $800. They tried selling me a maintenance service plan which covered the units for one year for 249.96 ea. If I signed up for the service plan, it would bring the cost of the job down to approximately $600. But now my total would be $1,100($500 for service plans plus $600 cost of the job).
I ended up just paying for the troubleshooting and looking for another option. I found the parts that I needed online for $135 ea. at www.parts4heating.com and they don't look that hard to install. The person who sold me the parts also gave me the phone number to the manufacturer. So I will do it myself. Hopefully, the technican's diagnosis is right and when I install the parts, it will correct the problem.
I would use them again because of their experience with the system. I don't know what other companies charge for this service but it seemed a little pricey.

"Dear Angie's List Member, with all respect to your opinion, let me reply: Your Baxi boilers never worked correctly since the day one because they were installed by an unprofessional and not trained person, he plainly did not know that he needed those parts. He probably got an advise from someone online, and thought he could do it... must say it is pretty dangerous path, simply because trying to install or repair sophisticated gas appliance can end up horribly! The technician that troubleshoot your boilers is trained and certified by Baxi and Bosch to install and repair tankless boilers and water heaters. He is also covered by Worker's Compensation and Liability Insurances as required by the law (that is for situations when things go wrong, as mentioned above!) Regarding those parts found online. Sure they seem cheap, but ask yourself: "Do those online retailers, that sold parts, CARE if you burn yourself, or get electrocuted, or fry PCB in your boiler, or else?" Are they responsible? Well, they are not! That is why their prices cheaper. On the other hand, if you decided to hire us to do the job, would you expect us take care of all things I mentioned above? Same old thing - you get what you pay for. For the record, the quotation for the repair was $812.06, that included two needed parts, inbound shipping, repair labor, parts and labor warranty and Sales Tax. Good luck with your repair!"

The representative came to my house on time.  He began walking through the house with me describing to me exactly what would be needed to cool my house.  My house is two floors and approximately 2000 square feet.  We discussed placing 3 units on the first floor and 3 units on the second floor (one in each room).  The representative did the calculation for me for the six units and determined that it would cost me about $19000 for the units.  He then informed me that if I was willing to sign a contract right away and give a small down payment I would get $900 worth of service thrown in.  When I insisted that I needed to discuss it with my wife, the price came down by about $3000 with a slightly lower BTU air conditioner in one of my rooms.  I told him I would get back to him the next day.  When I informed him the next day that I would not be needing his services because the price was too high, the price came down another $2000, to a final total of about $14000.  This price was still too high as I was only willing to spend about $10000.  This ends my experience.

These guys were truly exceptional. From beginning to end, everyone from the rep to the installation technicians were consummate professionals, providing me an estimate for two cooling units for my apartment, walking me through the process of what I could expect from them and what I needed to do, performing quick and clean one-day installation, and then even filling out the paperwork to get my $1000 energy credit back from ConEd. 
Here's where you know you're dealing with professionals: After everything was installed, I wanted to register everything for the manufacturer warranty, and as I was gathering the serial number for all four units (I had a 9000 BTU and 12000 BTU unit installed in my bedroom and living room respectively, along with the corresponding outdoor units), I noticed that the technicians mistakenly hooked up the 9000 BTU outdoor cooling unit with the 12000 BTU indoor unit.
I contacted the rep, Peter M. and you know what he did? He called me back the same day, verified that this was indeed done, admitted the mistake, apologized for it and immediately corrected the error by having technicians come out the next day to swap the units.  The technicians who showed up to correct the error, echoed Peter's apology, explained this rarely happens, and swiftly went to work. Any business can screw up from time to time, but it's how the mistake is dealt with and responded to that gives you a clue into a business' professionalism, competence, and dedication to customer service. What they did was textbook, excellent customer care. 
I think every consumer is hardwired to shop for the best deal; I call it the Walmart syndrome. Buy something as cheaply as possible. For certain items this certainly applies, but with sizable investments like split-type AC units, Richair Comfort solutions embodies the old adage "you get what you pay for". And what you get is top quality Mitsubishi product with caring and knowledgeable professionals.

It worked out well. There was a glitch in the beginning but after they fixed it everything has been wonderful. The technician worked very hard to fix the problem on one of the hottest days of the summer. They were very clean and their price was good.
The town also gave them issues about some of the wiring and their project manager was very responsive. The town ended up approving everything that was done after they were provided with documentation from the manufacturer.

Update: After my appointment, there was some confusion about a bill. We we told we wouldn't be charged for the appointment since they really couldn't diagnose or remedy the problem (not really their fault - my air conditioner units are out of circulation so no replacement parts available). Afterwards, due to an apparent paperwork mixup, we were sent a bill. Yes, we were confused and a little frustrated, but Richair eventually did the right thing and did not charge us. So when all was said and done, it was handled well. Aside from that, their technician was knowledgable and did all he could to help solve the problem. We had other people out previously to try to figure it out and they couldn't. I'd say Richair tried a little harder, going so far as to call Fujitsu for an answer.

Peter was great. He was responsive from the first call and very flexible and accommodating re: weekend estimate appointment. We ended up letting several months pass after the initial consultation, but when we restarted the process, he was just as helpful and attentive as before. Once we determined the size of the unit needed for my place, Peter was very creative and helpful in assessing where the unit should be placed and where on the roof the external unit could (relative to co-op constraints) be placed. The actual AC unit in the apartment and the lines from the roof unit to the apartment were installed in a day, and the guys that did the work were very polite and good about cleaning up after themselves. Once everything was installed, there was Isak, who came on another day and purged the lines of air and did the initial start up. He was very good about explaining the controls and particulars of the unit and also very courteous and professional.

All in all, a great experience. If you are looking to install a multi-duct AC unit (something that is common in many international countries, yet rare here in the States and NYC), these are the guys!

I have a townhouse in Manhattan with a Mitsubishi Mr. Slim outdoor/6 indoor ductless mini split system upstairs and a Friederich outdoor/2 indoor on the garden floor.  I emailed Richair after seeing them on Angie's List.  They emailed me back and sent me a price for cleaning/disinfecting, etc.  We have had a lot of construction in the area and I thought some of the blowers also might need cleaning.   They were up front and quoted me an additional cost if that was needed (the blowers are very difficult to get to and clean, so I was not surprised).
Isaac showed up on time and spent a little over 4 hours cleaning the 8 units.  Mr. Slim are not the easiest units and he clearly knew what he was doing as he took them apart.  He put plastic down, took pictures off the wall so as not to damage anything, took apart each unit, cleaned, disinfected, checked whatever he needed to check, and put everything back.  He answered all my questions and was quiet enough that I could still get work done.
I had this done the previous year by another company who were much more expensive and messier.  I am glad I found Richair through Angie's List and plan on using them on an annual basis for my air-conditioner maintenance.

What a pleasure to work with this company! Our Sales Rep Peter M. was true to his word. The work went quickly, the technicians were friendly, fastidious, fast, and efficient, and they answered all of our questions willingly. Need I say more? The electrician they recommended to get us up and running seemed to have the same work ethic. So far, our 3 air conditioning units are working without a hitch. We can hardly hear them, even when all 3 units are on at once, and it is so cool we often have to move the temp up a notch or two.

I went to the company's location to inquire about the installation of 2 mini-split air conditioners. I talk to a gentleman by the name of Pete who was extremely courteous and very informative. By the end of the information session, I was pretty much sold in hiring this company to perform the installation. However, later on I realized that I was in the middle of a refinance and could not afford to not have my refinance done because purchasing the ACs and doing the installation might affect my income to debt ratio. So at the end I decided not to follow through with hiring RichAir. But Pete was extremely helpful in providing me the information needed to select the best products and services for my situation. He very much made me feel at ease with how the installation would go and how long it would take. He walked me through the different options available to me as far as mini-split units and even recommended a particular unit based on my very unique air conditioning needs. I am one of those who complains about the lack of quality in service and  poor personal relationships with customers associated with big companies. Talking to Pete made me feel like we were family and he was very personable and that is why I tend to give my business to small businesses where the attention and treatment is better. I would definitely recommend RichAir for something as serious as installing ductless mini-splits where anything can go wrong if not done correctly.

They installed an air conditioner in two spaces. They were extremely courteous, very agreeable. They took all the measurements and installed it with minimal problems. The work was supposed to be finished in two days, but there was a scheduling conflict and there was a slight delay.

Richair Comfort Solutions were very responsive. They sorted the problem. It didn't fix it the first time, but they came out a second time and didn't charge us. They were very responsive and very good. I would recommend them. The first time there was a little bit of problem and they didn't get it fixed, but they came back and did get it sorted out very quickly.

We called 2 other HVAC contractors--also on Angie's list--prior to Richair.  When we described the project on the phone, we were told that it would cost $10,000-12,000 to do the project and options were not raised...  When we called Richair and spoke to Fred, he said there were different options we could consider.  He came to our house and said that we could get by with 2 units, as long as we were willing to keep the door open to a small room in the center of the apartment.  He also offered us as a $1000 discount on a Sanyo compressor paired with Panasonic blower units.  He said Panasonic had taken over Sanyo and would eventually change the labeling on future compressors.  The installers were competent, professional and clean.  The system works very well and is more than adequate to cool the apartment.

Greg, the project consultant/manager, designed an efficient and cost effective Mitsubishi (the highest rated and most reliable brand) mini-split a/c system to replace our wall/window units.  He worked with us on our budget and even used some of our ideas for the design.  He was courteous and addressed any concerns or questions.  He checked-in on the installers and was always available. 
Alex, the lead installer, communicated with us during the work.  He had a full crew who worked efficiently and clean.  The contents and floors of the house were covered during the work and picked-up at the end of the day.  All exterior work was also done with care and expertise. 
Kassim, the service tech, got the system up and running. He went over the system and the controls with each member of our family (four of us).  He told us everything we needed to know about its use and maintenance. He was great! 
We highly recommend this company.

The workers are clean cut and very respectful. I was amazed that they went above and beyond what I expected. workers put down plastic all over the house even in areas I did not think was needed. The service this company offers I think of  5th Av. No hidden costs and no pressure. Workers Cleaned up after them selves. I am really amazed at how every thing was done correctly. I always expect contractors to cut corners but not Rich Air. They did everything correctly.

Fantastic company - knowledgeable, communicative, prompt, honest, competitive! I can't say enough good things about my experience with them.
After being told by many hvac people that there was no good solution to heating a problem room, I learned about mini-splits and then researched installers. Picked this company because of good reviews on Angie's list (the reviews were for their long island, ny location but they are also in NJ.) The salesman, Gregg, was so nice, came the day I called, agreed to install it very quickly (around Christmas), gave me a very clear estimate , told me about substantial rebates from PSEG (because of the energy efficiency of the unit) and helped fill out the paper work and most importantly worked with the very difficult building inspection office in my town. He oversaw that the work was done properly.
Other HVAC contractors I saw were misinformed about the product and how it could be installed, gave me higher estimates and were just typically and generally vague about a number of things.

Four days installation, estimate was 5 days.  One day to charge and activate system as estimated.  Design of system excelent.  Out side lines look great and blend with siding.  Inside work was performed with minimal disruption and NO mess.  Great employees!

Salesman came and did not push me to buy a system that I did not need.  Installers came and they also worked out schedule with my electrician (much appreciated).  Few days later, they came back to start up system and make sure it all worked well.  Could not be happier.  They did a great job.
