Angi Complaint (Project ID: #294449564) I am writing to formally complain about a contractor I hired through your platform, [Els Remodeling , Gary Barnett], for a bathroom countertop installation. The entire experience has been incredibly unprofessional, and I am requesting immediate assistance in resolving this issue. Here are the detailed issues I’ve encountered: 1. Initial Installation Issues: Gary assured me that my original faucets could be reused. After the installation, one of the faucets was leaking due to incorrect measurements he made. This resulted in me having to purchase new faucets and connectors, causing the project to go $300 over my budget. 2. Poor Communication: After bringing the issue to the contractor’s attention, I scheduled a repair for Friday evening. He confirmed the appointment but canceled at the last minute, citing a personal issue. We then rescheduled for Sunday at 11:00 a.m., and yet again, he failed to show up without any communication. This complete disregard for basic communication is unacceptable. 3. Repeated No-shows: Despite promising to let me know if he couldn’t make the Friday evening appointment, he left me waiting with no notice. Then, on Sunday morning, 11:00 a.m. came and went, and he once again failed to show up, again with no explanation. I’ve reached out multiple times, and he has ignored my calls and texts since. 4. Costs Incurred: Because of his incorrect measurements and subsequent failures, I’ve had to pay for new parts and am now left with an incomplete job and just shy of $300 over budget. This is money I would not have had to spend if he had done the job right the first time. I have all supporting evidence, including text messages and receipts, to back up my claims. I expect Angi to take this matter seriously and assist in getting this issue resolved as soon as possible, whether it involves compensation or assistance finding a reliable contractor. As a resolution I request a partial reimbursement for the subpar services rendered by the contractor. The contractor did not complete the job to a satisfactory standard, resulting in additional expenses on my part. Below is the breakdown of the total reimbursement I am seeking: • Labor Charges: The contractor charged me $381.56 for labor. Given his poor work ethic and lack of communication, I believe it is fair to only be charged for half of the labor, which would equate to $190.78. • Faucets and Connectors: Due to incorrect measurements and installation issues, I had to purchase new faucets and connectors, which totaled $257.34 for the faucets and $31.49 for the connectors. The total reimbursement I am requesting is $479.61. I believe this reimbursement amount is fair, considering the incomplete and poorly executed work, as well as the two instances where the contractor was a no-call no-show, causing me to miss overtime opportunities at work. My proposed resolution is a partial refund, which covers the unnecessary costs I incurred and reflects the substandard level of service provided. I look forward to your prompt response and hope we can resolve this matter amicably. Please advise on how we can move forward from here. Thank you for your prompt attention.
