"I was suprised to see this review. I'm not sure who Is to blame for what it will refer to as a miscommunication. I had emailed and follow up called this customer both on the 4th and 6th of September to schedule a start date. The customer does not have an answering machine of voicemail so I was unable to leave a message by phone only by email. I assumed after 2 calls and emails that something had changed and the customer had decided not to do the work after all. Thinking back on the situation maybe I should have tried to call or email another time or two however I have never been pushy and wanted to respect his space."
"I have read this review and would like to set the record straight on how this job went. First of all I agree with her statement that the job took longer than expected. However when I looked at the job I was told that I was giving a price on labor only to install the items that were picked out by the homeowner. The price that I gave them was 2350. The agreement between the homeowner and myself was that he was to do all the remaining demo and clean out and I was only suppose to install everything. Day one and the demo hadn't been touched since the prior week when I had originally looked at the job. So the demo plus added drywall to the hallway side of bathroom and moving drain lines for a new vanity added to the time line. Keep in mind this is all in a 100 plus year old house so you always run into hidden surprises when dealing with a house that old. As far as the 8 hour days and doing other jobs at the same time. We worked at least 8 hour days. There were many days we had to get materials which were suppose to be provided by homeowners and started our day an hour or two before we got there or ended our day an hour or two after leaving. There was a 2 day down time while we waited on a fast setting additive for the grout to arrive. In that time I did take the opportunity to do a quick 2 day job I would have otherwise done after there job was complete. As far as stating that I wasn't sure I would finish the job that conversation never took place. I kept reassuring the homeowner that I would complete the job no matter what after he had informed me of the multiple contractors they had used in the past and that most if not all of them failed to complete there work. I did complete there bathroom even after a change of plans on her part the day before I was to finish which caused me to be there an extra 3 days at no cost to them. I was told that they would seal the grout on a weekend when they could limit traffic for a day since they weren't able to limit that traffic during the week. I did receive a text message from the homeowner on Friday sept 27th (approx 2 weeks after completion of work) stating that the tub was leaking And the grout was cracked. I immediately replied to his message and tried to set up a time to go out that day and look at it. He was unavailable until late in the afternoon so we agreed on me coming out on Monday. I went out that Monday and we were able to find the tub leak which was a bad design on the shower doors. We corrected that issue. Upon looking at the floor the grout was very blotchy. I had spent 5 days on that floor while finishing the room and the grout was an even color when I completed and there were no cracks. We went to the basement and he had put what looks like a dehumidifier but expels very hot air right up under where the bathroom is located. That in combination with the standing water in the basement lead to added moisture seeping up thru the grout cause uneven curing and cracking. I asked him to move the dehumidifier and let me know in a few days to a week what the grout was doing. That was the only time I was out there after completion and have heard nothing else from the homeowners until this review. I am a big supporter in Angie's list and if this review had been accurate I would never have commented on it. Thank you for taking the time to read this."
