I have a forced air duct system and wasnt getting sufficient heat to the right side of my house. I called them to come and take a look to access what was wrong and what needed to be done to fix this problem. When I called them to explain what what going on, I was told right of the back that there is a $150 charge just for them coming out and taking a look. I found that to be a high but i needed someone asap because i am renovating my kitchen and also needed the air duct moved in there...so I agreed and someone was at my door in about 2hrs, The person that they sent was very young and really didnt look like he knew what to do. After I showed him where the problem was I left him by himself to do his thing while I attended to working on my kitchen. For the whole time he was there (1hr 25min)..."doing "work".....trying to see why I wasnt getting air to the right side of my house....he was on the phone with his boss asking him what to do the whole time. After that I realized that this KID was not experienced and had no clue what he was doing. So after being there for less than 1hr and 25min, he comes to me with the bill and explains to me that I need new duct work for the right side of my house because they have gaps and the ducts themselves are old.....and he proceeded to hand me an invoice for $358! It took this KID.....1hr and 25min to tell me this. I asked why is this bill so high when you didnt do any work or replace anything or fix anything. He told me that this is for 2hrs of "work"....and that after 1hr and 30 min they charge for the 2hr rate! After him being outside at his van for the last 15 min....doing God knows what....he comes to me with the bill....which tells me he was killing some time so that he can charge me this 2hr rate. I asked him to call his boss and after going back and forth him for a minute he told me that if I use them they will see if they can "work" something out where they will credit me back some of the $358 that I wasted ino the cost of fixing the ducts. I was toled that someone will call me with the estimate the next day but no one did. I called them about 3 times within the next couple of days trying to find out what the price would be. Finally I got in contact with Mike and he told me to do the job would cost me $1500!!! I asked if the $358 would be deducted from that and I was told no....only $100. I politely told them no thank you....and just had to come to grips that I just flushed $358 down the drain for them doing absolutely nothing. If I would have known that I would have been charged this much without them actually fixing anything I would have never of called them. But do you want to know the good part? I called another company from angies list (COOL SOLUTIONS INC) and they came to my house....told me that i didnt need to replace all of my ducts.....that I had a broken damper. They charged $85 an hr (and actuallly did work).....was there for 1hr 30min......and charged me for 1hr and 30 min.....not 2hrs like jp joyce
Response from JP JOYCE PLUMBING AND HEATING

"Customer called us that he did not have any heat. Customer was informed that it would be $185.00 and hr plus parts and labor, he agreed. We sent our technician Sean. Sean had fixed the heating system and checked for proper operation. Sean had also noticed that the customer was renovating his house. He approached Sean for an estimate on his new duct work.Sean informed the office. We gave an estimate to replace the duct work equaling $1500. He was charged $358.00 which was paid in full for time parts and labor as pursuant to our phone conversation."

The crew was exceptional and I would not hesitate to use them again. A crew of 4 worked nonstop for two full days to complete the job. They were there when the inspector did his walk through. The inspector pointed out a few concerns and they fixed them right away.

They were very good. I did not end up using them but the man that came out was very good. I feel like most of the other companies that did quotes for me treated me like an idiot because I am a woman. But he was very good. He explained everything. Unfortunately he did not get the work because he does not do radiant heating. He is very knowledgeable. He explained everything. Whenever I called him about questions he called me right back. He was extremely nice. I have nothing but nice things to say about him. Even though I did not use him he was very good. If I needed some other type of service I would call him.

The plumbers were knowledgeable, professional, and did a good job of cleaning up after themselves. Overall they did an excellent job, the pricing was very fair, and we would definitely hire them again. This was our first experience using this company and we are very satisfied with the experience.

Job was completed on day of service in a professional and satisfactory manner. By agreement, new boiler was purchased at addtional discounted cost through National Grid offer for conversion to gas heat.

Michael responded to our request for a bid on our job promptly & professionally. His price was fair & he was very professional. Wound up going with a different plumber but would absolutely ask Michael back for a quote on any future work being done.
