I left Andy a message on his answering machine and sent him email as well.  He called me back the next day.  One the first phone call he was upfront about his availability (it would be a couple of weeks, but we were in no hurry) and his rates.  He came by on a Sunday (after he'd returned from Mass, he said) and had a look at the job.  He also said he'd come by a couple of days before he began the work to look over the installation instructions. He said he didn't want to waste time reading instructions after he started working on my house.  We really appreciate this, considering he bills for actual time spent in my house.  The bath door replacement went exactly as planned.  The medicine cabinets and bath light fixtures, which he initially estimated would take 4-6 hours ended up costing us more than 22 hours!  The old medicine cabinet was a nightmare to remove.  The old light fixtures were actually electrically unsafe.  Overall, we ended up paying much more than our initial estimate, but still worth every single penny.  Andy's work is impeccable.  He never takes shortcuts, dots every "i" and crosses every "t".  We are very pleased with the end result (our bathroom looks like it's been updated) and we would use his services again.

Andy did a perfect job --he is extremely neat  - no plaster dust or paint speckles  anywhere - the line between the ceiling & wall is perfect - he is a little pricey but you get what you pay for

My overall experience with Andy was great!! I live in a Co-op and people are finding it very difficult to have workers come in to perform jobs because the management of the place makes it kind of difficult. One requirement that is needed is insurance. Andy was able to provide the necessary insurance paperwork to management right away so he would be able to perform the work. Andy came and gave me an estimated number of hours that would be needed to perform the job, he went over a little bit but the work that was performed was top quality.
We met at Home Depot the Saturday before he started and he pointed out some of the shoe molding that would be appropiate for my place. He found me two small pieces to take home and decide which size I wanted to go with. I went home and decided and then e-mailed him with the one I chose.
The day he started working he went to Home Depot and picked up the necessary supplies for the various work, that needed to be done, molding, nails, spackle, etc.
First he had to repair a hole in the ceiling in my front closet. There were cable wires hanging out of it and an electrical outlet that was in the way. He did a great job repairing this hole, which was located in a tricky spot.
I had previously had high-hat lightings installed by someone else. That person removed an old light fixture and left a hole in my ceiling with wires for that old fixture. Instead of putting a plate over it and painting it I wanted a carbon monoxide detector put over it. Andy cut and then glued a round piece of metal to cover the hole. After that was properly secure he was able to mount the dedector to the metal plate. Now my ceiling looks normal with no extra hole!!
I previously had baseboard molding installed when my hard wood floors were done, by another Angie's list member. I decided I wanted to have shoe molding put down. Andy cut and installed the shoe molding in my living room, dining room, and down my hall. He cut it right in my apartment and kept the dust to a minimum.
Andy changed all my outlets and switches from black to white.

Three days before our wedding, a friend of mine was running speaker wire in my attic.  He tripped, and fell through my ceiling.  He was ok, but  there was now a giant hole in my ceiling just a few days before many extended family is coming to see my new house from all over the country.  In desperation, we called Andy's Carpentry.  He asked me a few questions, and just a couple of hours later, he was at my house with all of the required materials for the repair.  He went directly to work and by the end of the day, my ceiling was patched up and ready to be painted.  Since he needed to spackle the ceiling and let it dry, he finished what he could, and then left for a few hours while it dried.  He left two very large fans aimed up at the ceiling to expedite the drying and he returned a few hours later to apply a second coat of spackle so it would look as clean as possible for my company in a few days.  During a few minutes of down time, he walked around my house volunteering to patch up some minor holes in my walls from moving furniture and other normal ware and tear.  Overall, it was a very positive experience.  Andy clearly made us a priority for the day and I would recommend him for any repair work you need.

When you had called I was home about to eat lunch. My wife heard in your voice that you needed immediate rescue, so I dropped everything I was doing and spoke with you. Seeing the small hole in the ceiling but noticeing a much larger area 3' x 5' needed to be replaced. You already had a piece of 1/2" drywall in the garage that I used so only Joint Compound, fiberglass mesh tape, 2" x 3" metal track was all that was needed. I am so sorry for not returning your calls. Unfortunately we had an electrical blackout in my neighborhood and all my messages have been erased from my answering phone. I have been working on many other projects for other Angies members. I just helped a gentleman who is getting married this weekend and his friend trying to get a sound system working by installing the wires in the attic. Well, it seems he sliped on the joist and went thru the drywall ceiling, causing a major hole. Hearing in his voice that he needed immediate rescue, I dropped all that I was doing to take care of matters. He and fiance were so grateful because their new home was going to be seen by family from out of town. As for helping you with your doors, May I say that there are hundreds of reliable contractors listed with Angies that you could of also called. We just had a gas line installed for an outdoor grill. The line needed to be run through the garage up through the patio. I needed the hole in the garage ceiling patched and a brick cut to fit around the gas line on the patio. I found Andy on Angie's list. He was great. He had all the materials to do the job,and he did both jobs fast, and well. Everything went the way it should,with expertise and detail. I would not hesitate to use Andy again, and would highly recommend him to anyone who needed a good, honest guy who knows his craft.

The work was good and there was one time that he came very early and I wasn't prepared for that. The price was about the same with the other estimates that I got. The work was done well and he didn't stop until he was finished.

I contacted Andy through Angie's List via email.  i have since been recieving spam email ranging in subjects from 'how to make money online' to 'are you committed to a better way of living'.  I am using the Angie's List service to avoid exactly this type of unprofessionalism.  I have called and asked this vendor to cease and desist these activities immediately.  It appears that this vendor does good work but the situation described above is unacceptable.
