We had a badly damaged front step that included some rotting railroad ties. It was both ugly and unsafe. Fred discussed several options with us, including the relatively inexpensive option of repair. (I had assumed going in that the whole thing would have to be replaced.) We went with the repair. Once he started, Fred worked steadily and kept us informed about what he was doing and what his schedule was. Working with both cement and bluestone -- which he used to connect the step to the walk -- he was both skillful and creative. Now that it's done, I can say that he didn't just repair the step, he transformed it.

Fred performed the tasks at hand with great care and with profound knowledge, coming from a stone mason who has worked in the profession for many years.  He is also a landscape architect so he was able to provide me with ideas on how to create a brick sidewalk and to trim both my plum and birch trees.  I would highly recommend this skilled mason for any complex job.  He is definitely a treasure in the Hudson Valley and does work in many counties, including Delaware County where I live.
