I hired Jeff Lowe Plumbing to service the gas boiler in the house I just bought in Kingston, NY. The boiler hadn't been serviced in years. The service contract (for a year) was reasonably priced. The technician was great. He answered all my questions about my heating system and showed me how to re-program my thermostat. Oh yes, he cleaned the boiler too!!

First, they were responsive, which is better than I can say for other plumbers I tried to hire in the area. Second, they were helpful on the phone, and didn't have the attitude that the plumbing business in Woodstock seems to have. Their trip fee was reasonable compared to others' and they can schedule visits at any time including weekends.
Matt was swamped by emergency work at the time of our original appointment, and could not come, but there was ample communication about this. Also, the following morning, I got an early call from the office seeking to reschedule at earliest opportunity, which happened to be right away, and I was given priority because of the prior night's trouble.
The plumber was polite, well-spoken, and helpful. Within a few minutes we had decided on the scope of work, and he set to work. He also left me with estimates for other work that I had asked him for advice on. He left everything in great shape.

A bit expensive perhaps but not hugely so and the reliability and convenience is worth a lot to me, after having tried to get any plumber to come see me for a couple of weeks.

Excellent. The repair was done well. The staff person was incredibly professional and pleasant. The repair from arrival to departure was about an hour and a half.

I signed up for maintenance contract which included an annual maintenance visit which again was timely and with the same staff person.

Had a Geothermal unit installed 2005 to provide heat and AC to whole house? Contractor of course went belly up about 2 years later and of course that's when the unit stated acting up. Many authorized installers for the manufacturer in the area but almost no authorized maintenance, or at least no one who wanted to respond to a trouble call. There's more money in installations than repairs it seems and I guess you need to know less as well. Over the next 2 years we used 3 other services; 2 no longer exist and the third makes Lowe cheap by comparison... Finally after aggravating the manufacturer enough, they responded and suggested Lowe. Are they pricey? Definitely. Are they good? They're EXCELLENT. When they responded to my first trouble call, 2 service men showed up, looked at the installation and said and quot;Wow. Who did this?and quot; and called in their supervisor. Over the next 2 days they diagnosed back and forth with the manufacturer. Initial price to me? before repairs $98 service call. Once they had the installation understood, they fixed 2 leaking valves (geo system replacement parts are notoriously overpriced; just do a web search). Lowe charged the same price as the best price I could find on the Internet. After that, once a year diagnosis, cleaning, adjustment, etc. under maintenance contract both maintenance and subsequent repair calls are discounted. Valves leaked again in a bit over 2 years; sulfur in the water corroded the parts. Lowe suggested a different, cheaper, stainless steel unit. 3 years now, no leaks. This last repair was for a part I think began failing soon after installation but because it showed no diagnostic errors, is difficult to prove. Since it was replaced, the system runs flawlessly, better than when new. The company is a bit pricey, but they are true to their estimates, no matter how long it takes. Some of their estimates are outrageous so I laugh and look elsewhere. BUT THEY COME WHEN YOU CALL, and when it's cold outside and the heating system is down, that's what I need. They are clean to a fault, booties on shoes before they take a step into the house; refuse cleaned up and taken away. About everything I want in any type of contractor or service; high quality service that is there when you need them. I'll gladly pay a bit extra for that.

It took some time. They had to find the problem, which involved one man going into the crawl space underneath my house and finding the right wire, feeding it back to the man in the bedroom, then replacing it. They were great: competent and informed, and very courteous to me, answering all my questions. Great professionals.

They were excellent, they were just amazing. They were absolutely the best. If I could afford it, I would use them. The service people were friendly, they explained everything. They were prompt. They were really remarkable. They had their uniforms and were clean and neat.

They are absolute wonderful. You call with a problem at 7 o'clock in the morning and they're be there at 8:30. The only problem was their price and if you have them in an emergency, you kind of expect that. They are expensive but good. They are really excellent and prompt.

We met with Fred from Lowe's to discuss and then arrange for the work to be done. They broke down everything as we asked about different things such as the central AC, humidifier and air purifier not knowing what exactly we were going to do. They did this for 2 different systems. They had to set up for asbestos abatement as the old furnace and duct work was wrapped in asbestos tape. The company they hired for that was excellent.
I found each of the workers to be polite, friendly and most willing to explain things to me. We had some delay due to weather holding them up in setting up the condenser for the AC. We have used them in the past for minor things and I would not hesitate to use them in the future for any large or small job.
I really can't say if they were the cheapest, middle or most expensive. I called 3 other companies...one didn't even have an answering machine and I was not willing to trust such an expensive endeavor to them, The others wanted nothing to do with the asbestos saying there wasn't any company in the area who did that. Obviously there is.
I highly recommend Lowe's.

We did not contract with Jeff Lowe Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning. We found better ROIs elsewhere. We also wanted, and found, a BPI (Building Performance Institute) certified contractor.

We have been customers of Jeff Lowe Heating and Plumbing for years, but rarely called them for anything other than routine maintenance on our heating/AC. Had a small plumbing issue today that I just didn't want to deal with, a cracked plastic pipe under the sink. While here, I asked how much to snake the line when he had it open, as we had had issues with slow drain and occasional backups. Quoted over $600 to replace a plastic pipe and snake the line. Insane. So we are no longer customers of Jeff Lowe. Hopefully others have had more humane interactions with this company. I will say that generally their service people have been professional and pleasant, but I am so deeply offended by the price gouging. Less than $20 of materials at any home improvement store and running a snake down a 2and quot; pipe for over $600? I don't think so.

For over 20 years Jeff Lowe Plumbing and Heating serviced our furnace, primarily because they were the only company in town that serviced mobile home furnaces....or so we thought. The administrative staff was pleasant and responsive in terms of scheduling appointment for our needs. The service techs were professional in demeanor for the most part. Jeff Lowe's pricing in incredibly high plus many times it happened that not long after they serviced our furnace, something else would go wrong. Coincidence? Perhaps, but I think not. There were instances after they serviced out furnace that we had to call them back to fix the same issue again very shortly after they left. Several times when our furnace needed parts, the service techs would take parts from our furnace with them, forget they did so we had to remind them to bring our parts back. When it was time to replace our furnace we used the Yellow Pages and called over a dozen local plumbing and heating companies, including Lowe's, for estimates. Fortunately during this process we did finally find another reputable company that serviced mobile homes. Their estimate was $5000 lower than Lowe's for a better unit, a high efficiency model AND nothing goes wrong a week or so after they've serviced our furnace. If you don't mind shelling out your hard earned money and paying for potentially unwarranted service, then Jeff Lowe Plumbing and Heating may be okay for you. Jeff Lowe Plumbing and Heating is definitely NOT a recommendation from our point of view.

Eek METHINKS NOT!!! PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR SERVICE.
*Jeff Lowe plumbing came to my house to replace a part (that I indicated to the repairman) on my heating system.
*The plumber invoiced me for a $98.00 diagnostic charge for actually checking the part I asked him to check for 5-10 seconds by listening to it via his screwdriver and confirming the part was bad.
t* Then, he quoted a price of $799.00 to replace this pump which online I found to cost a little more than $200.00. To replace it, one needs to just use the water cut off above and below the unit. Next, remove the 4 bolts and reconnect the power line. This will take around 30 minutes. I think i will do the work myself!
*OVERPRICED AND UNSCRUPULOUS----BEWARE!!!

air condition is working for the summer of 2012. We'll see how things work out for 2013.

It's the summer of 2013 and the A/C is working fine... they came out and did a cleaning and maintenance which was done very well.
I changed my ratings rating from good to excellent on most categories, a D to a C on pricing.
I know you get what you pay for... but it's still expensive

I have a contract with the company for caring for my heating and ain't conditioning units yearly. They call to arrange a convenient appointment, arrive in a timely fashion, and do the job efficiently. Although they seem a bit pricey, the service fee is in line with other similar companies. I recently bought new hvac and water heater from them, and am quite pleased with all items.

It went very well, I showed Joe all the projects first, then he called the shop for the parts while he got started. He gave me prices and information before starting the work, and did everything quickly and professionally. The next day when something not worked on started to leak, I called the office and they sent Matt over right away. He also was quick and professional. I would definitely use this company again.

I started working with them when I bought the house and they've had to fix a lot of the original contractor's work. They've also had to get to the house 24 hours a day in pretty bad weather and they've done it.
Over 12 years, I haven't had any problems with anything they've replaced and they've told me when they thought something should be fixed or replaced. They also alert you if the fix is simple or complex and they didn't charge when they thought it was just the batteries in the remote that were the issue.
When it came to installing the Nest thermostat, they weren't as cheap as having the manufacturer install it and they would have preferred installing a unit they work with more, but they also checked and confirmed that they trusted the quality of the unit and reviewed my system wiring in advance to alert me what wiring changes were needed for the model I wanted to work. Knowing that everything works correctly after they work on it has always made them worth the price to me.
