I hired Nick the Tile Man to redo the kitchen floor tiles that was poorly laid by a previous general contractor.  I figured since I'm hiring specifically a tile contractor, this company would know what they were doing.   6 months later, the grout started to come out and the tiles were loose again.  In fact, when I'm walking directly over the tiles, you can hear that it's hollow underneath.  I immediately called the guy who installed the tiles and he promised that he would fix it.  After scheduling a date, he never showed up or answered my phone calls or text messages. I then called Nick, the owner of Nick the Tile Man company.  After 2 months of chasing him down with phone calls and text messages, he finally came to my apartment to look at the work.  He blamed this work squarely on his subcontractor.  So he basically subcontracted the work out to a non-licensed contractor.  Now this is illegal.  In fact, what ended up happening was that I paid more for this service since I had to pay both the subcontractor and Nick the Tile Man.   However instead of making it right, he tried to take advantage of me again.  He wanted to charge me to patch up the poor work by removing the grout and caulking the tiles together - essentially gluing them. Now there are two major problems here.  One, everyone who knows basic physics, knows that if it's hollow underneath the tiles, gluing the tiles above the space would only mask the problem.  I even had 4 other professional tilers said that I would need to completely start over and redo the tile work for it to be done correctly.  If I did it Nick's way, I would have deal with loose and maybe broken tiles.  Second of all, why are you charging me to redo the work that you didn't do correctly (and illegally) in the first place?   Do yourself a favor, please don't hire this dishonest, money hungry man.  He doesn't deserve your business.

The company was truly professional. Excellent price. Very punctual. He's a person that loves his work. I would refer to him as "old world professional". He also cleaned up after he was done. Highly recommended and I would use him again.

I will definitely be hiring Nick and his crew when we have our next tile project. They did an amazing job. Everything came out great. They even came back quickly when I noticed one line of tile had missed a full grouting and fixed it without any hassle. Few scratches on the walls from the grout removal but overall a completely professional job. Bonus points for cleaning after themselves every day and keeping the rest of the house clean while working.

Really well, kitchen and bathrooms were renewed, staining on limestone tiles was removed and some unscheduled work was accomplished without extra money being asked for -- work completed in 3 days.

I am happy with the regrouting of my shower area. Nick answered all my questions before and after the work. He is very pleasant to work with. He told me how to clean the grout, so I don't have the problem I had previously. I always regret having workers in my home, because they make a mess and leave it. What a surprise to find the workers polite, hard-working and so neat (I couldn't believe it). I would highly recommend Nick.

Nick the Tile man was pleasant to work with and one of the most courteous contractors Ive ever dealt with. His pricing was very reasonable and he even took two extra days to install and overcomplicated shower door because he'd given me his word that he would install it before we knew what type of door it was. Bathroom looks beautiful now.

The job was more complicated than I originally thought. It involved removing the shower floor tile installed 20 years ago. The drain had been improperly placed an the floor was not properly sloped. Nick and his staff replaced the shower pan which involved removing the shower glass, the marble threshold saddle, the bottom 2 rows of wall tile, moving and re-piping the drain, and putting it all back together. Ceramic tile work is usually very dusty/dirty. When the finished, my house was just as clean as than when they started. I would not hesitate to use Nick again. Highly recommended.

Major renovation of my basement with pool installation required skilful tile man. I was fortunate to find Nick. Price was reasonable, considering the size and complexity of the job, and tile installation, which was pretty tricky, was excellent. Work was professional, clean and began and ended smoothly. Jeremiah, Nick's main tile guy is super. Nick, himself, is an honest and decent guy. Would definitely recommend.

Arrived on time and viewed what needed to be done and advised me the course of action I should take. What I wanted done he strongly advised to clean the grout myself and gave me instructions on the best way to achieve this thus saving me a lot of money. He was not trying to get out of not taking on the task but in his honest way was showing me how to save my money...how many contractors would do this, very few I am thinking. If you are looking for an honest contractor then give this gentleman a call, you will not be disappointed

This was the second time I have hired Nick and his colleague Jeremiah. They came in and replaced the damaged floor tiles to our bathroom. We ran into a hiccup when Nick explained to me the tiles and grout I had pre-purchased were a poor choice for longevity and required a greater amount of time and money to install which I did not have. He kindly drove me to the nearest Home Depot where we joined up with my wife to decide on a last minute change to design. It was hugely helpful having him there with advising us on a nice tile that would last the distance. The actual job itself was quick, very efficient, clean and professionally done like our first experience with them. We would not hesitate at all to get them in again when we have our next project ready to go. Thanks guys!

I can only give a rave review to Nick. I needed to have my shower re-grouted and the floor-to-wall seam properly grouted, as there were large gaps in that space. Nick responded immediately to my call, came as scheduled for a very fair assessment, and then came at the appointed time and completed the shower. I could not have been happier with the job. Jeremiah, Nick's assistant is highly skilled and a perfectionist and Nick remains on site the entire time to help with any issues which may come up. Nick keeps his word, as he had to come back to complete the floor seam. He stayed in touch with me until the time when that could be completed. Everything looks perfect and much better than was done at the time of my renovation in 2009. Nick is truly an old-school professional. He is honest, reliable, polite, obviously takes a great deal of pride in a job well done, and keeps his word down to the smallest matter. It was a joy to work with him and with Jeremiah. Everything was cleaned up and left in perfect order. I would not hesitate to call him again for any kind of tile work and would enthusiastically recommend him to others. It is no surprise he keeps getting Angie's Super Service Award.

On Nick's honest advice we decided not to go with tile. We appreciated this and went in another direction with the floor. He was not looking to make a sale, but rather that the job be correct. I hope I have an occasion to call him again.

Nick and his team did a great job, they were punctual, coordinated well with the plumber, dealt with the tricky aspects of the Moroccan tile patiently and with care. The end result looks fantastic. There were a couple of hiccups, and Nick was very professional in dealing with those, and honestly the job probably took 2-3 days longer than he originally expected, but he stuck to the agreed terms. Nick did a terrific job redesigning the tile work and installing new tiles in my bathtub. My bathtub used to have a shelf adjoining the shower wall that was a few inches above the tub. It would stay wet and the caulk would mildew over the course of time. Nick suggested we retile to raise the shelf up by 30 inches to avoid all the water. In the process of raising the shelf Nick also made the tiles a uniform size whereas previously I had one row toward the bottom that were smaller. Nick regrouted the tile expertly. The shower looks great and I am totally satisfied. In addition to doing great work, Nick is thoughtful about working within a budget. He gave me a few options at different price points.

Nick's guys did a great job on the floor and were very respectful. They also cleaned up afterwards and left nothing for me to do. Nick was there the entire time making sure the work was done right. I would definitely use Nick in the future.
