The only negative thing that happened was that one of the movers (who had been pretty much confined to working in the truck), came up when we wrapping up and complained loudly that they were waiting for us to leave. To be fair, I think the other movers were put out by this as well, and apologized to me for his behavior. However, I think this was an anomaly and not indicative of the usual level of professionalism I get with Shea.
My conclusion, up front, is this is one of the best companies I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. They are honest, have integrity, and just pleasant to work with. You will be treated well by their great staff. The guys who come know what they are doing and do it professionally. I cant say enough good things about my experience with this company in the 3 moves I had.
I will make the comment (mostly) on the last move I made. The owner of the company came to our home and did a capped estimate. if the move went over the estimate we would not pay over the estimate. It ended up that the estimate was a little low and the move took longer than expected. I only paid the cap not one penny more.
1. They took GREAT care when I had some VERY delicate furniture left from my grandparents.
2. They wrapped up a large boat in glass with precision and delicate hands. They were so respectful of me saying "this is fragile and please take great care.
3. They showed up EARLY.
4. They didn't care that I wanted a couch moved 3 times. They smiled and asked me if I was happy.
5. They were careful when moved from one home into the other. They watched and made sure they didn't scrape walls or floors.
Look I can go into al the details but it would be impossible. I put the above up to show that its ALL in the details Any company can move a box. But after 5 hours at one house, and on the third hour as the SECOND house you might expect they guys to be a bit grumpy. They were not. They were as careful with the last box as they were with the first.
I can not say more good things about this company and the experience I had THREE times with them. And in all 3 moves not ONE thing was broken. I think I packed pretty well, but it says a lot to the care they took.
On moving day, we had to add a couple of items not in the original inventory, and also needed a couple of heavy items in the new home moved down to the basement. Shea's people adapted to these changes with no problem at all. As is the case with New York apartments and attached houses, there were some difficult stairs and some tight turns, but the movers overcame these obstacles with little difficulty.
Their estimated time of completion turned out to be spot on and the final bill was $20 over the estimate. They took very good care of our furniture, televisions, and glass cases. We suffered no damage at all.
Fortunately, moving is not something we have to do very often so it should be a long time before I need a moving company again. But if Shea is still around when I do need to relocate, I won't look any further.
The owners followed up before during and after the move to ensure that I was satisfied with their service. Their movers were neat, efficient, caring and careful. Nothing was broken and they helped my elderly mother with certain requests that were not part of their responsibility - gladly and willingly.
I highly recommend Shea Moving for any of your moving needs.
The two men were extremely considerate & saw that everything was done exactly to my liking They moved heavy furniture in & out of rooms, up & down stairs & out of the house with the grace & precision of a choreographed dance. I guess you can tell I was pleased & impressed.
The 3 movers were on time, professional, courteous, and accommodating. They moved our apartment furniture to the new house as well as assisted in moving some pre-existing furniture to different areas of the home. They never complained and were very accommodating. It was a very smooth moving experience and highly recommend their services.
On moving day, the Shea team showed up on time (8 AM), with one more person than they initially said they would have, and had us fully out of our apartment in 3 hours- extremely efficient. They were extremely careful with our stuff, and wrapped our furniture well. They did mar the stairwell wall of our apartment when moving the couch, but I am not sure that could have been avoided, to be honest. The whole team was also really respectful of our two terrified cats.
At our new house, again they had one more person than they planned, which made everything go faster. We specifically asked them to be extra-careful with the newly-refinished floors, and they were extremely diligent about this. They finished about 4:30. Everything was present and intact.
This was a big move on a very hot day. They moved us from a second floor walkup to a 4-story house and were quick, courteous, efficient, pleasant--and at the end of the day, they came in at about $200 LESS than their initial estimate. We couldn't have been more pleased and would definitely recommend Shea Moving to anyone.
