DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!! BEWARE!! If I could egive them zero stars I would. No matter how many positive reviews they may have here. They are CROOKS!! I hired them to fix my chimney. I paid them cash. I personally paid the owner as he asked for cash. They came and said it was fixed but it wasn’t fixed. I called them and they said they would return to fix it. They NEVER returned! They NEVER again responded to my phone calls, NEVER called back. I must’ve called them over 20 times. My chimney now leaks more than it ever has. It now leaks in places it never leaked before- it is way worse than ever!! The worker said that he only gets paid $200 and he’s it not worth it for him to come back. They are deceitful, unprofessional and crooks. They took the money and ran. DO NOT give them business!!! It is absolutely disgraceful how they took advantage and to this day I have yet to hear from them. ABSOLUTE CROOKS!!!!!

For now, I'm giving Top to Bottom Chimney one star. If they call me back to discuss doing the work properly that should have been done in the first place, I'll improve my rating. At this point, their ghosting tactics are bizarre. We have two friends in common who refer them constantly. But that's about to stop if they don't follow through like professionals. And if they don't, there will be several complaints that I will file against them through the state and county since they are operating without a license. I'd suggest calling other companies.

They did fantastic work. The guy even fixed the damper that was broken for free. He put in bird prevention items for free. They did a great job except they did leave soot and grime in my insulated box.

I think they probably are on Angie's List. I would recommend them because of their price, professionalism and cleanliness.

It worked out great. If we ever have a big problem we will call them. They are very honest and good people. Everything was top notch; they were really good.

They gave me an estimate to raise the liner to it's proper height, also install the top plate and put a proper cap. The estimate ended up to $685. This was on top of the $4000 plus I had already paid another contractor to fix the chimney. They were punctual and did the job. They didn't even have lunch. It was so hot that day. Finished up the job and went to the basement to recheck everything. They fired the burner, and Steven made me get the company to come out and check the system. He was not going to do the job unless I had a note from my heater guy that the draft was good before he would even touch the job. They were totally excellent. He said he would try his best. He was working on a brand-new roof and cleaned up after himself thoroughly. After he had finished in the basement, he cleaned up there very well too. He was extremely honest and told me it could be another $100 on top of the estimate of $520. Because something else was missing - he went out and bought it - it came to $685, and now the chimney is totally fine. I would use them any time - Steven and his father are going to be my chimney people now. I would recommend this company to everyone, to all my friends.

My experience with them was 100%. They were so nice! They were professional, on time, and communicated well. The chimney looks beautiful! They did everything I wanted them to do, the owner even came to the house and gave me advice.

We used Angies List to find a chimney repair specist in our area. The ratings were all and quot;Aand quot;. The service representative told us what caused the problem and how to keep the problem from re-occuring. He took out an entire bucket of debris from the chimney.

They were very responsive and kept in communication. They worked with me to fit the repairs into my schedule and did a great job at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend them.

Steve did not charge me for the estimate. He is a very honest guy. He is licensed, insured, certified, and bonded. They were extraordinarily helpful and beyond honest. I would recommend their services.

A oil to gas conversion was done and that contractor recommended this company. I called 3 different companies. One never returned call. I called a second supposedly well noted chimney company here on Angies list and nearby in Smithtown. They came to give estimate. Only they came on a rainly day and therefore did not climb up to get details, only looked inside house at burner. Then this company wanted specs on new burner. After providing this information and told I would get a quote, never heard from them again. Then I called Top To Bottom. Although very busy they came and estimate even though rainy day.
This is a father and son team and you deal with them. Very polite , respectful and professional team. The son with a worker came on the scheduled day, They spent 3-4 hours doing the job, They did a lot of work and clean dup after themselves.

I would use them again. My brother who lives nearby plans on calling them soon. Top to Bottom is Great people.

UPDATE: AFTER MY RECOMMENDATION , MY BROTHERS EXPERIENCE WAS A D RATING.
My brother needed a steel liner which was done, guys were professional. However, issues with cracks in chimney and loose flashing not addressed and/or not repaired properly Cracks in lower and upper part of chimney not fixed or epoxy used instead of cement. Chimney flashing re-attached with tar not nails..Unfortunately, I definitely will NOT recommend these guys in future.

This work was completed in the home of my 83 year old mother. The work was completed on time and Don and Steve were polite when interacting with my mother. They answered all of her questions and were respectful. They cleaned up after themselves. I highly recommend them.

I contacted Don Chiappetta of Top To Bottom Chimney Cleaners to access and make repairs to a deteriorated heating system chimney. My house is circa 1830 and the mortar of the chimney was severely degraded as well as cracking of many of the bricks. I was already aware of the condition of the chimney and its internals. Don accessed the chimney and recommended a sound and honest plan to repair the chimney instead of a cosmetic only fix or trying to sell work that wasn’t needed. The existing chimney, because of its age, construction, and a liner that was not installed properly, needed to be taken down to the roof-line. The existing liner had been installed to low for the application and a crown was never installed when the chimney was originally built. The company was very professional to deal with, prompt, honest and very neat. After the work was completed and I came home, my yard and driveway were spotless. I was quite surprised. All garbage was taken away, old brick debris cleaned up and no damage to my house or yard. The company did an excellent job of rebuilding the chimney, extended the existing stainless steel liner, adding a crown and installing a suitable chimney cap. All work was started and completed in a single day. After completion of the job, they left and Don stopped by a couple of days later to check if I was satisfied, and pickup payment. He even brought over a box of doughnuts. Top notch contractor, excellent, quick, honest – I recommend them highly.

He came over and inspected two chimneys. Left us an estimate well more than $1000 to repair both and clean one of the two. Got second opinion from another highly rated Angie's List contractor. Very minor repair and cleaning on one chimney. Nothing at all needed on the other! The whole job cost us $65. I am steering clear of this "top to bottom" company!

They were excellent. They gave me an estimate and it was right on. It took them a couple of hours to do the work and they were very professional and immaculate.

Top To Bottom was recommended to us by our oil service company. Our home has one chimney that contains two flues used with 2 separate propane-fueled fireplaces. We were concerned with buildup of black soot in both the fireboxes. After inspection, the gentleman explained that the propane created the soot, but that most of it burns off, unlike wood, leaving a constant small amount of residue, and that a cleaning wouldn't be needed. He refused to accept payment for the brief visit. I found this to be very professional and it showed knowledge and integrity.

Other chimney cleaning companies either did not return phone calls, or did not want to travel the distance to our town. Top to Bottom Chimney Cleaners responded to my phone call right away and followed through all the way.

We contacted the company to give us an estimate based on the high ratings given to them by Angie's List. Don came in, spent all of 4 minutes telling us that the chimney needed to be chemically cleaned (which he doesn't do) and gave us an estimate of $1,400 for other work he thought was needed. A lot of the work he recommended be done he doesn't actually do. He was quite abrupt and acted like he really didn't want to be bothered.

They were very professional from beginning to end, from making the appointment to arriving on time. The damage was more extensive than expected. Instead of just taking my money to repair it, they gave me good advice and explained what was needed to repair it. Since I was planning to remodel anyway, they recommended I consult with an architect first to decide if I was going to move the chimney. They did not want to see me waste money if I was going to change it later. They also did not want to do a quick fix which would give me false security of what could be a dangerous situation. I like them. They were genuinely concerned. They also recommended that I shop around as well. There was no pressure, just good advice.
