So, if you would like to now go on Angie's List and make your complaint, feel free to do so. I have saved all records of the emails, texts, and conversations that we've had. I'm sure that I have handled this situation both professionally and responsibly. I'm confident that my records will show this." Finally, on Oct. 29 I sent one last email asking if he was coming back or not. He has not responded. I also spoke to my neighbor who told me that Mr. Valuri called him and cancelled his job because of the problem he was having with me. So he is not coming back and I now have to hire another mason to resent my Belgian blocks and repair the polymer grout that is missing. What can I say.
"As I explained to the customer in several different conversations, I had no problem going back to address his issues. The customers complaint was with cobblestones that I reset after watching his landscapers knock them loose while hopping over them with their big lawnmower. I did this because I am a mason, working at customers house, and felt it was a kind thing to do. I only reset 3 existing cobblestones by street, I did not negligently remove a 1/2 cobblestone, nor space joints any differently then the rest of driveways cobblestones. As far as the cobbles at the top of driveway, I reset the 2 end cobblestones on each side of driveway. On the right side of driveway at the top, I reset the end cobble, and repointed the next 2 in line after it. So at best, I set the end cobble slightly crooked. I was intending on going back to address customers issues as we had discussed. It was to my understanding that it could wait until I had time in between the next few jobs until I returned, but I realized that was not the case after I received a threatening email from customer."
I would have to say that Anthony is not only one of the best people I have ever hired, but also he takes extreme pride in everything he does. He is a master mason and also has an extremely creative side. He is on site everyday and watches everything that happens. He works very hard as do his two wonderful workers. I could not say enough about Anthony but the first thing that comes to mind is his pride in his work. You would not find a better or more reliable mason so I want to recommend him with high reviews.
This gentleman called and was extremely courteous in explaining to me that he would not be able to accommodate my needs for almost a year as he had jobs lined up through next year. He apologized for not being able to help me out at this time and asked that I consider him for future needs, which I would definitely consider based on his reviews & courtesy. He was in no rush to get off the phone & we spoke for some time as he explained his business philosophy regarding work & customer service. Although I cannot speak directly of his work, I feel he was sincere & would deliver on his promises.
Anthony explained all the details of the job and the time frame he expected to be available to perform it. He was right on time on initial visit to explain and estimate the cost. Professional, friendly, and courteous. His no job too small in his Ad is factual.
Anthony is one of the best contractors I ever worked with. The day he came over to give us an estimate we gave him the job before he ever left. He is very detailed, and takes pride in his work and reputation. From start to finish he was on site, not leaving his "guys" to do the work, he was right in there with them guiding them each step of the way. I have used contractors before that come and go from the job site to do other things and I don't like it. When Anthony takes the job that is his primary concern from start to finish. He worked from 8 am to 430 pm monday thru saturday. The job took a little longer than I had anticipated, but he promised it would be done by July 4th, and it was finished July 3rd at 5pm. 16 days total. He and his guys work very hard- they stay on site all day, eat lunch on site and clean up after themselves. Very courteous and respectufl young men. Anthony is extremely detailed, so much so, that he had a pool company he works with come over and fix a small leak he found once he ripped up the old pavers, and had my pool vaccuumed twice after the sand and dust got into the pool. He also laid some sod on my front lawn which was damaged from the dumpster. There were no additional charges at the end of the job. We spoke with him daily and he kept us in the loop and asked before he did anything that would impact the look of the yard.
He treated the project and the property as if it were his own.
The final product is better than we could have hoped for. Spending this amount of money is always stressful, but having Anthony do the job made it much easier. And we now have a beautiful new patio!
Thank you Anthony! I will recommend you to everyone I know-
update as of 4/18/15-
We had several issues after the work was performed- Antony came back a couple of times to try and fix, but then stopped returning calls. The issues consist of
1. the pitch of the patio- its a large area and although he explained to us how the patio would be pitched, it wasnt pitched correctly. Both sides of pool were pitched into the pool instead of away (he came back and fixed the far side so it pitches away) there are still areas of "pooling" even though he tried to fix once, but didnt fix problem. Being that the patio doesn't drain, there is alot of sand, soot, dust, etc. that satys on patio, making the look of bricks old and dirty. No matter what we do it doesnt get the debris all up.
2. The stairs he built are pitched to the left, if you look at photo you can see the steps are higher on right and pitch down on left. Along those lines, the finish around the sliding glass door where steps meet is unfinished. Antony thought my neighbor could come up with something to fix it, but isnt that his job? We now went through a very wet winter and i dont know if there is any water damage now behind the shingles and stairs. I sent him a text with photo of this in december or january and told him i wasnt happy. Never heard from him.
3. Lastly he put bricks and polysand to close to drain for jacuzzi and even though he came back to fix it is broken. I cant drain the jacuzzi without a portable pump.
Antony hasnt called or returned since October of 2014. For $30,000 cash I expect return phone calls and satisfaction.
Update as of 5/22/15- now that Anthony refuses to take any responsibility for the issues we are having and doesn't stand behind his work I am forced to grade him an "F". We gave him every opportunity to compensate us for the mistakes he made so we can have the work re-done but he refused to even consider it.
"The poly-sand that was applied to the patio upon its completion prevents the water from permeating its surface. Because of the complex pitches and other obstacles surrounding the patio the only way to resolve the drainage issues is to remove all of the poly-sand from the joints of the entire patio, therefore allowing the water to permeate into the subgrade. I will either have a qualified company remove the poly-sand or reimburse the customer for the cost of this service."
