Design Air came to do a yearly checkup on our air conditioning system in our house, and found that the attic ventilation fan was inoperative, and dome was missing, leaving a large hole in our roof. Within an hour, he arranged to have other technicians replace the fan and repair the roof, as heavy rain was expected for the following day. Very pleased with the professionally and speed that the work was done.

Make sure the person who comes in your home is licensed. I don't think my technician knew what he was doing. After hiring them, I have had problems with the air quality in my home ever since. I have even hired other air quality specialists and installed a new humidifier but still see particle and dust floating in the air. And I am still concerned about the air quality.

"Design Air, Inc., is a licensed HVAC company that has been in business for over 25 years. All of our technicians are factory trained. We were asked to perform an A/C maintenance for this customer in August 2011 and completed an 18-point check and serviced a non-working unit. When we were through with the maintenance and service, the system was clean and working properly. The following month, we were called to do a heating maintenance and again encountered a non-working unit. Following the maintenance and service, the heating system, too, was clean and working properly. In November 2011, the customer called in with concerns about residue coming from the heating vents. After careful inspection, our technician could not identify any problem with the equipment and recommended an air duct cleaning, which was declined. The call itself was done on a good-will basis and not charged. In late March 2012, we learn that this customer is holding Design Air responsible for the poor air quality in their home. During our two calls in August and September, nothing was done that would affect air quality with the exception of a possible improvement by changing the filters."

We had a service person call on us for the latest problem with our 25+ year old system. He pointed out the costs of repair vs replacement. We agreed that the time had come to get a new system. The salesman discussed our options with us. At no time did we feel that we were pressured. We agreed upon a schedule to have the work done, The installation guys showed up promptly and got the job done in record time. This is a very top notch outfit. There was a  problem that we had with the airflow in one of the vents with the new system. They were able to make an adjustment on the spot to fix the problem. We are very happy with the work that was done,

From start to finish every single person we worked with from the company was professional, knowledgable and all around nice. They came when they said they would, no hidden fees, followed up with us if we had an issue and did quality work. We have NEVER worked with an organzation on so many projects and had such consistent positive experiences.

At the suggestion of my neighbors, I called Design Air to check my heating/ cooling system before I fired it up for the summer. When the technician came, he turned it on and after 5 minutes of blasting cool air, the system just shut off. According to his diagnosis, I needed a new circuit board. He couldn't give me or my husband an estimate so he called into the home office. The office calls him back, he puts them on speaker phone and a gentleman tells us that the part would cost $505 plus tax and on top of that I would still have to pay for labor. The technician tells my husband that Design Air would guarantee us the lowest price. When my husband suggested we install a brand new unit, the tech tells us that would cost thousands. With a heat wave about to start, we gave him the $100 deposit and tell him go ahead an order the part. When he left, I got on the internet and did my own research. I called the manufacturer of my heating/cooling unit and only to learn that the cost of the circuit board is $99 but they do not deal directly with home owners! That same day, the tech returns with is $500 part. When I confront him about the $400 mark up, all he can do is stutter that he doesn't set the price, he just installs. He looked so pathetic, I just asked him to leave. My husband called another service company who came in did a top to bottom inspection of our system and found a loose wire. Never again will I use Design Air.

"We apologize for the misdiagnosis. Our technicians are human and may err on occasion. Many times we have been the second opinion when another company could not identify the elusive loose wire. Please know that, had the new board not solved the problem, we would have refunded the price and reassessed the situation. I'd like to clarify the price of the repair. Our charge for the part was $200, with the additional $305 covering labor for installation. including a one year parts and labor warranty. There was also a charge for the initial diagnostic service call, as we do not bundle it into our repairs. Although these prices may seem high, one must take into consideration the cost of doing business, including salaries, training, licensing, benefits, insurance, vans, etc. Design Air has been in business for 25 years. We take pride in our exceptional customer service and unblemished reputation. This is the first negative report we've received from Angie's List or any other follow-up survey. Excellent work. Very professional. Reasonable price. Since that time, I've been saving first on heating & now cooling costs. I realize this is not a hot summer, but I am adjusting for that (Cooling Degree Days), and our cooling electric energy usage is way down.

I usually have them check at my heating and air conditioning unit before the season. They are prompt, and they give 24 hours service. So, I can call them at any time if I need help. Their charges a bit more if I use them on a weekend, but that is understandable. My overall experience with them was good.

They came on time and did a good job. They did exactly what I wanted. They fit everything quite well into a cramped space. The air intake/exhaust venting was tricky, but they solved that problem quite well. It took 1 extra day (3 instead of 2), but it was well worth it to get the job done excellently. I wished they had 1 extra person on their boiler crew, but they are very busy, in high demand, so it was understandable. Since the new boiler system went in, my water heating gas usage is already down 33%. Their high-efficiency boiler guy knows his stuff. Their electrician is really top notch (works with military precision, very fast, very neat). I have also used them before for electrical work too (went well).

They were so nice about their sales tactics. They actually suggested we wait a couple of years to start the contract since everything was so new. I liked that they weren't trying to sell me something I didn't need. My wife asks a lot of questions and he was professional and patient making sure we understood everything and gave us some suggestions like a good filter for my allergies.

No heat. Called Design Air, who sent a technician. He fixed my heat in about 15 minutes, but recommended I replace the 35 year old boiler. Initial service call would be free. I would get a new Lennox boiler and two programmable thermostats for $3600. They brought the boiler the next day and installed the boiler & thermostats in about 6 hours.

THEY HAVE DONE VERY WELL. WHEN WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS, THEY HAVE EXPEDITED THEIR SERVICES AND TAKEN CARE OF THE PROBLEMS VERY QUICKLY. THEY'RE VERY WELL QUALIFIED. WHEN IT WAS INSTALLED IT WAS DONE QUICKLY AND WITHOUT INTERFERING WITH DAILY ACTIVITIES AS MUCH AS THEY COULD. THEY HAD TO INSTALL DUCTS. WHEN THEY COME TO DO SERVICE CALLS, THEY DO THE WORK AS QUICKLY AS THEY CAN SO THEY DO NOT INCONVENIENCE YOU IN ANY WAY.
