We had significant problems with Burke Heat, their inflated prices and their "automatic renewal" policy, which we found oursleves trapped in. It did not surprise me to later learn that this company had been investigated--and reprimanded--by NYS attorney general.  We are beyond happy to no  longer be doing business with them. We were customers for 6 years, they charge almost a dollar more per gallon for home heating oil than many other companies, be mindful of them

Highly efficient, professional and responsible.  Installation took two full days.  Company followed up with all necessary permits and came to premises when inspections were conducted by City of White Plains officials..   When the initial inspection required part of the job to be re-done, it was done within a few weeks.  A second inspection was scheduled and all permits have now been issued.

I need to upgrade my boiler to keep it up to code.   The problem is this company is very expensive.  They are very professional but extremely expensive.  The oil prices are some of the highest in the area.  I was sorry I could no longer afford the service contract and the price of the oil.

I had a service contract with Burke for many years and they were always they when I needed them, even in the middle of the night.
When I had another company install a new burner  Burke told me  ,"We will not honor your contract because we did not do the install."
This lead me to look for another oil company.

After several bad experiences with oil delivery companies and their service people, I called Burke through Angie's List and so far I am very pleased with their service. I bought their annual service contract (around $325 a year - I think?) and Burke came out and corrected all the mis-repairs of the prior companies.
Oil delivery people are professional and prompt. Would recommend.

Overall, very good, particularly on price.
Some suggestions:
1) the only invoice I get is the one they leave in my mailbox the day of service, which is rather hard to decipher.  nothing comes via normal mail
2) cannot pay using credit card unless calling them direct to do so

Excellent. Technician arrived right on time. He assessed the problem, had the part available, and replaced it quickly and efficiently. He also permormed a check of the other zone valve to ensure it was working properly. This service call is consistent with the continually excellent service we receive from Burke.

I do not recommend Burke, and here is why:
I bought my house in April 2012. The former owner used Burke. We offerred to pay for heating the home while in closing so I ended up calling Burke - this is how they got their claws into me.
Their sales person gave me a call. I explained that as a first time home buyer (who hadn't closed on the house yet) I was considering options.  We closed on the house in the last days of April 2012. As a good sales person, she was persistent, and sold me on a 6 month fixed price contract at $3.62 / gallon starting in May 2012.  I took it and was grateful to have one thing off the list.
My first fuel delivery was May 14, 2012 - I purposely write them on my calendar so I can track my usage. And I thought nothing of it.  Then as September came I remembered that I should call the oil company. I got too it in early October. They informed me that I HAD a 6 month contract that expired in April.  I told them that wasn't my recollection. I tried explaining to them that having bought the house in April of 2012 and taken my first delivery in May 2012 it's not really possible for me to have had a contract expiring in April 2012.  Still I needed the oil so I purchased from them at about $3.82.  I informed them I was looking for a new oil company and that I was unhappy. I was pretty clear, I wanted to be on C.O.D. only - that I would call them if I wanted more fuel.  Some poor customer service reps called me two more times trying to 'resolve' my issue, to which I recounted the whole story and told them again - I'm looking elsewhere.
Then, after spending a night away, on December 20, 2012 I come home to find a receipt for a fuel delivery.  I was flabbergasted. I'm not sure how my 3 conversations with them explaining how I didn't feel they honored their contracts and wanted no more fuel from them was ambiguous.  I called and asked the service rep, "Should I send them a check or file a police report?"
I decided to pay for the fuel. I will use it, and I don't need a pyrrhic victory to crow about. I'm sure they have documentation that reflects their version.  Apparently, no one had taken me off auto despite my repeated instructions and I'm-going-elsewhere statements.  This seems to be the deal with Burke - oops, we're sorry we bled you a bit too much, here's your bill.
Today I hired a new fuel company and called Burke to emphatically cancel.  I don't usually have to call companies and tell them in no uncertain terms will I not accept more of their product.  In the end, the service rep "can't" cancel my account; sales has to do it because it's less than a year old.  Now I'll get to talk to someone else, who will try and sell me, and tell yet one more Burke employee - If you deliver more fuel I will interpret it as a gift and I will file a police report for trespassing.
Burke really blew it, as a new homeowner I am sensitive to cost but have no basis for comparison, had they given me good service I would have happily went along. To be honest, I don't know how competitive their pricing is, I've only just hired a new oil company.  You can bet I'm taking detailed notes about what we agree to and when on my calendar.

Burke Oil are scammers. They are huge company and they have bought up many of the small companies. They have horrid prices and very expensive contracts.  Did that for the short term, but believe me I was price gouged on that little thing. Higher than anybody else in the area. Fuel oil price is outrageously over everybody else. It's not like 10 cents a gallon more; it's like 50-70 cents a gallon more than everybody else. That's ridiculous, because they are all getting their oil from the same depot. I haven't used them in a few years, but my friend is using them now and she just got the price gouging. At a dollar more than everybody else. When I had put a stop delivery on them in my other location and they went and delivered oil to a house I hadn't been in for 2 months and then charged me for it. I told them they had to get the money from the landlord, because I hadn't been there in 2 months and had stopped delivery in August and they went and delivered to a house with no one in it in October. They don't make any connections. They are not very nice either. They haven't changed, they are actually getting worse from what I hear. They were told to stop delivery. I even asked should I fill up the tank and he said find out how much oil was in it?. He said that it was only 50 gallons and just to pay the landlord the $50 on your security, because we are not going to come to fill for 50 gallons of oil. I said O.K. and so stop delivery and they said fine it was in my record. Then a month and a half later oil and filled it up. Their fuel oil is consistently higher than everybody else in the area and once people are in a contract they are stuck. It is price gouging.

We use Burke Heat for fuel delivery and maintenance on our heating and boiler system. The prices for fuel are competitive although not the least expensive in the area. On the plus side, they are one of the few to offer yearly contracts where they will have a guaranteed ceiling on price or a fixed per gallon cost.
They have always been professional, courteous and thorough in explaining the work done.

We just bought a foreclosed home a week ago.  We didn't know how much oil was in the tank, so I had to pick an oil company in a hurry.  Originally, I picked Burke because their oil was cheaper than another company.  I'm very glad I went with them though.  They were able to schedule my first delivery ahead of time, and worked with me as dates changed when our closing date was finalized.

The first delivery came early in the morning, so there was no waiting around or wondering if we would have enough oil until the delivery.  The man filled the tank and left the invoice for us, as the sales rep told me would happen, so he didn't need to bother us when we were busy prepping the house for moving.

Our house was winterized, so plumbers had to de-winterize the house and turned on the heating system.  As soon as they turned the boiler on, thick clouds of black smoke filled the basement.  They realized the chimney was completely clogged, so I then had to find a chimney sweep to come out.  After the sweep was finished, the boiler itself was producing smoke and still couldn't be left on, the chimney sweep told us the boiler needed to be serviced.  I called Burke again at this point to see what they could do. 

By now I realized that this could get pricey very fast since the house hadn't been well maintained before us, I immediately signed up for a service contract and they were able to send someone out a few hours later to take care of the boiler - we couldn't leave the water on overnight without heat to keep the pipes from freezing.  The service man arrived at 10 PM and went right to work on the boiler.  It didn't take him long to figure out the problem - the whole boiler was FULL of wet soot, there was no air getting inside.  Even though it would have been taken care of during a full maintenance visit,  he took the time to clean out as much of the soot as he could and repaired a hole in the metal side so we could get the boiler safely turned on.  By 11 PM, the boiler was running fine and we were told to get the tune up done as soon as we could, but it was safe to leave boiler running now.  The guy cleaned up after himself and left some furnace cement, since he knew the next visit would require it.

Since then, I have called Burke a few times with random questions about how the boiler is functioning, if things were normal, etc, as well as to schedule the tune up.  They have always been very helpful and friendly, I have not had an unpleasant conversation with them.  Even when I call after hours, if they can't help me because certain people aren't available, they make sure to take my information and needs and someone calls me back the next day.  I have not had such a good experience with telephone customer service in years.

I have extensive e-mail correspondence to show how they tried to drag their feet and give us a hard time.
It would have been so nice if Burke had stepped up and apologized and worked with us to clean the rest of the oil.  Additionally, Burke billed us for the oil that they spilled for 3 months.

ITS FINE AND VERY GOOD. EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM WAS POSITIVE. MY CONTRACTS WITH THEM HAVE ALL BEEN VERY POSITIVE. THEY COME OUT TWICE A YEAR AND MAKE SURE THAT MY HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING ARE WORKING AS WELL AS THEY CAN SO THAT I AM NOT PAYING TOO MUCH IN OIL AND ELECTRICITY.

THEY CAME HERE WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD. THEY FIXED EVERYTHING QUICKLY AND IN A TIMELY MANNER. THEY DISCOVERED AN AREA THAT HAD NOT BEEN CLEANED EARLIER AND NOTIFIED US ABOUT THIS. HE DID NOT SEEM LIKE HE WAS CUTTING CORNERS AND WAS VERY THOROUGH.
