They never called or showed up

So far, so good. Our previous 30 year shingle roof lasted less than 20 years. The manufacturer made good on a portion of their guarantee. Mr. Proctor assessed the situation and felt that additional attic venting was needed as the roof was getting too hot. They arrived on their scheduled date and everything was done before I got home from work. They were respectful of my gardens around the house and the site was cleaned up.

The crew arrived promptly at the time the scheduler had said (8am) and went right to work, careful to avoid damage to shrubs and plants. They were very pleasant as well, and there was a big enough crew to finish by noon. They finished by looking through the shrubbery to make sure they weren't leaving any shingles or nails around the house.

The workers were prompt, pleasant and neat, in appearance and their work. I am very pleased.

It didn't. When I called, I said that I wanted to get an estimate of the cost to re-roof our house and asked if they worked on homes in Rochester, (since they are located in Stanley, I wasn't sure if they went out that far). The gentleman I spoke to said that they did, and that they happened to be doing a job near our property right now and could drive by our house the next day. They said that they would email me their estimate to do the job. I was very impressed. After a few days went by and I didn't receive an estimate, I gave them a call just to make sure that they had my email address right, (I assumed that they did the estimate). I got their voice mail, so I left them a message with this information. I waited another week, and still no estimate. So I called one more time, this time requesting that they call me back to let me know whether they had done an estimate or not, and if they hadn't, whether they intended to. I never received a call back. So, needless to say, I am not impressed with Proctor Roofing.

Initial contact was difficult, several calls went unanswered afetr leving messages, finally got a call back and a gentleman arrived proptly & professionally, inspected work to be done, gave me a quote and a saple of shingles that were included in quotes to choose from. After I decided to use them, again the process of getting ahold of someone took several calls over several days. The quote was signed & sent, and again no answer as to when it would be accomplished, and again several calls. A date was set and a problem arose on my end that the work would be able to be started that day. Several calls to let them know went unanswered and they showed that dau only to have to go away(their fault for not responding). Another day was set and no one showed, after 8hrs I calledtwice to find out what was going on(the second time a little irate on my part), the girl called back shortly afetrward to apologise as there was a family emergency and they would be there the following day, but they should have called me to let me know. Crew did show the following day and it all worked like clockwork, start to finish 6.5 hours. They were carefull of not damaging anything on and around their work area, cleaned everything up, ran a magnet ovet the whole area. Very pleased with the work, but the girl in the office needs to go, I was ready to go with someone else, eventually glad I didn't. Unsure why they keep her if she doesn't do her job.

He is really good and competitive. He has a twin brother who is really good and never left the job. He didn't let anyone under 20 on the roof because I don't like any nonsense. He split them up in to groups and had them start working. He came back and cleaned up with a magnet. He also picked up the roof that blew off my house. He fixed the gutter for me too. He wouldn't leave until I told him there was nothing else I could have him do; you do not find people like this anymore.

It was a positive experience from the estimate to when the workers cleaned up and moved off the job.

I picked the color; two days later 18 or 19 men showed up 8:30am and went to work. Totally professonal job. When they left they had cleaned up everything.

The experience was excellent. I give them the highest ratings across the board.

They were very good, quick, clean, and thorough. The job turned out excellent.

Proctors put the roof on and 2 weeks later shingles started coming off. Work was supposed to be guaranteed and he would come back if there were any problems. It is now 2012 and my husband has had to fix the roof repeatedly. We have called and called - nothing. I would never have him do work for us again or recommend him to anyone.

I have asked them to quote on a couple of other jobs We had Proct9or Roofing come to fix anther roof on our 200 year old house. They arrived promptly and had a large crew that immediately stripped 3 layers of old shingles off and replaced the decking with plywood where needed. They completed the jod and cleaned up everything before leaving. This is the third time we have used them for various roofing projects and each time they have done a very professional job at a very fair cost. Their cleanup is excellent leaving nothing behind. They accommodated my schedule, came out took so quick measurement and printed out a quote from his truck. It was well under the other contractors but we did not use their service since it seemed to be a inconvience stop to discuss everything to give you a warm and fuzzy feeling about the company. They maybe excellent and had plenty of referances but I had a gut feeling not to use them. They were $4500 cheaper then the other contractors

Positives: They were quick. Materials seem to be of good quality. Negatives: They sawed through the roof and interior drywall ceiling. Had to arrange for them to get in the house and fix and then clean up after them. They also did not replace gutters around a screened in porch and did not direct one of the down spots away from the house. Subsequently, water in the basement. After 8-10 calls, I am still waiting for them to complete the gutters around the porch. After about the 6th call, they did come back and redirect the downspout. They left gutter sections to go around the porch but still waiting for them to put them up. Now October.

I had trouble getting them to do the estimate. I had an appointment but they didn’t show up so I called and they apologized. They said someone would get back to me that afternoon but he didn’t and I called several times. I thought maybe they were ignoring my phone number so I blocked my caller ID and they answered; take that for what it’s worth. They finally came out to give me an estimate and I was pleased with what he had to say about what needed to be done. The price was high but they said they would bring several people and get it done in one day. They have a 12 year labor warranty which is exceptional, but I would obviously be paying for it.

The only problem I had was communicating with the office staff, and getting a return phone call.

Called and spoke to Mr. Proctor. Told him that I needed a new roof and could he please come by for an estimate. He set an appointment with me for Friday the 12th of August at 4:00 PM. At 4;45 I called his office and told the person that answered the phone that Mr. Proctor was supposed to be at my house at 4:00 for an estimate. She apologized and said that she was going to call him on on-star and she would call me right back. I never heard from anybody again. Apparently Proctor roofing has enough customers and does not need any more so don't bother calling them. I ended up going with another contractor and will review them once the work is done.

The roofing went very well We have used Proctor for roofing and other home repair projects. They show up on time and have a very good crew that prepares the job site, performs the work and then cleans everything up. They left no mess behind at all. My one small beef with them is communications - they previously had replaced our porch and porch roof and did an excellent job matching existing work on our 200 year old house. They have done such great work that I now want them to replace some doors and windows but they are very busy and not real communicative. When they are on the site and doing work they are wonderful and call if they will be a few minutes late. Its just getting them to come out the first time to measure and quote. I found the price to be high. It was a free estimate. I didn't even meet the people. They were friendly over the phone. It's just that the price was a little too high. It was a good experience with them. I didn't do much with them. I couldn't rate them on punctuality because I was home when they gave me the bid. They were very professional. I would consider them if I had the need again in the future.

Extremely professional and responsive. Completed everything in one day with a very large and very well-supervised crew. The work was performed 4 months ago and there have been a number of bad storms since -- including high winds and heavy rain. Absolutely no issues with the new roof. Very, very satisfied.

They had a very large crew and they finished the work quickly within 4 hours.
