Jeremy Mathias is a crook. I contracted with him to remodel my kitchen. Normally, I don't pay up front for contracting work, but he needed to purchase the countertops, so I gave him the money for that. He then ghosted me for months. When I was finally able to get ahold of him, he told me that he was too busy to do the work he had agreed to do on my kitchen. I then requested that he return the money (because, even though months had passed, he had never purchased the countertops). He said that he would. He then ghosted me again for months. Eventually, I figured out that the only form of communication he will respond to is showing up at his house unannounced. I strongly recommend that tactic. After using the excuse that the IRS was taking all of his money (because he doesn't pay his taxes), he did eventually pay back the bulk of the money, but he never paid all of it. Instead, he made up a bunch of stuff that he claimed he had done at my house but never billed me for. Do not hire him.

J. M. Construction Building and Remodeling is owned by Jeremy Mathias of Galway, NY. The owner and company are located at the same place in Galway, NY. The company signed a contract with me to finish building my house before Christmas 2012 and  by August 28 COB my house was still not finished and I terminated them. They even put in the clause " time is of essence" in the contract. Despite the fact the company was walking distance of my house that was being rebuilt, for many of the days no workers and even the owner, Jeremy Mathias never showed up. Many of the workers were ex-convicts and had little experience on building homes. The owner, Jerry Mathias, gave his workers poor supervision. He said he was a builder, but he was actually a general contracter and hence was a middle man to several subcontractors. He took no responsibility for poor work and there was much of that. The basement floor was not level, grout was smeared all over the tile, and wood  floors were poorly put in, the closets  were too shallow to put a coat hanger in, bacuse of a poor undersatndind of engineering they constructed etc. a basement that leaked, etc. It was a waste of time to complain to the owner, Jeremy Mathias and he made himself very difficult to reach by phone. He rarely returned phone calls.

JM Construction signed a contract with me that indiacted that they would complete my house before Christmas 2012. By August 28, 2013 the house was still not finished. This is also despite the words " time is of essence" in the contract . The work was also of very poor quality. The owner of JM Construction, Jeremy Mathias, rarely showed up to manage his workers even though he lived in walking distance of my house. The basement floor was not level and the basement leaked. The wood floor was put in badly and grout was smeared all over the the tile. The paint job was terrible. I have a PhD in physics from New York University with masters' degrees in physics and engineering and I have taught electrical engineering and mechanical engineering at RPI and the University of Connecticut. I have never seen such poor engineering work as was done by JM Construction on my house. Many of his workers were ex-convicts with little or no experience building houses. On August 28, I had had enough andI terminated JM Construction and I hired a new builder to complete my house. Please do not make the mistake of hiring JM Construction. They are based in Galway, NY but they are agressively trying to get work in Galway and the surrounding areas.
