Unfortunately, I did not Google this company prior to leaving a $2,000 cash deposit with them for a sofa & loveseat. There are dozens of complaints reported on-line, however, not here. There is even a Facebook page "The Place Furniture Galleries Fraud Victims!" Their customer service is non-existent. They will never return your call requesting information on long overdue deliveries. I had to personally go into the store when the saleswoman was in. They are now using the name Your Home Furniture of Long Island. Please see my review under that name. Regardless of their name change, it's the same store. Do yourself a favor......don't go there! Worst shopping experience. The people in this store have no clue what they are doing, why would you sell somebody something and have no idea when or were it is shipping from. After talking to them over a half a dozen times and getting lied each and every time, they never call you back nor even send you an email to update you about your order. All i have to say is stay away, I know I'll never spend my money at this store again. Update: 11/2012 Called and canceled this order, didn't seem like they cared one way or the other, they still had no clue were my order was. They did refund all my money thou . Ended up going with Raymour and Flanigan, got my bedroom set with in 4 days and we are very happy with it
Description of Work: Ordered a bedroom set in Aug and was told it would take 4 to 6 weeks. Called the store the end of Sep and was told it was coming from NC and that it would be shipped out the first week of Oct. Called and emailed the store the second week of Oct and was then told that there was a back order and it would be coming in 10 days. Well we are now in Nov, talked to them on the 1st of Nov and was promised it was shipping this Mon and that I would have a tracking number, well come Mon if I don't have a tracking number I will be calling to cancel the order.

I have called and yelled at them. I feel they were dishonest and misleading with this issue. If purchasing items from this company, I highly recommend that you find out exactly where the furniture is coming from. I am very upset and feel that they have taken full advantage of me. I feel they do not care when my furniture comes. Since I have been waiting for the furniture to come in, clothes are ever where because we have no place to put them.
Description of Work: We purchased 6 pieces of furniture on March 20, 2010. They told us that the delivery would be 8 weeks and they told us that it was coming from North Carolina. The truck that they were going to deliver had to be filled up and that is why it would be eight weeks. I called around May 15th to see if they have heard anything and if I could set up a delivery day. They told me they would call once it came in. My father called on Tuesday May 31st. He got the truth that the shipment was actually coming from China and it would leave June 8th or 9th. Today, I still have not heard anything, so I called them. They told me it is expected to arrive in the harbor July 9th or 10th. It will then take 4 days to go through customs and get delivered.

Terrible service. Was committed to receiving dining room in 4-5 weeks. After several issues, and poor follow-up from The Place, I canceled my order after waiting 15 weeks. Manager admitted her customer service is terrible. Will not purchase from them ever again. My sister had a similar experience.

Don't know yet since it will be at least six weeks before I get a delivery. Hopefully, they'll bring the right couch this time. I'd be very weary of using a company with such poor service and such rude customer service reps.
Description of Work: On 3/18/07 I ordered a stadium seating couch from The Place. Because we picked our own colors and added accessories, the delivery was to take 6-8 weeks. On May, 2nd, they delivered the wrong color and style couch. My wife was told she'd have to come in and reorder since our original salesman no longer worked there. We'd also have to wait another 6-8 weeks. On Sunday, May 6th, my wife went to the store to order all over again. When she arrived home, we discovered a $200 off coupon in Newsday for any purchase from $2000 - $2999. I called and said since I had to re-order, and did so the same day the ad came out, could I please have the $200 off. I was told you already got a discount so NO. The customer service reps on the phone were rude and the sales rep was not very accommodating to our situation (now having to wait almost 4 months for a couch). P.S. I got rid of my old one the day before delivery. Oh, they did waive the delivery charge (big deal).
