I knew I needed a new roof when the September windstorms removed half of the original shingles. I sought out and got quotes from four roofers in the area. The price range and material quality quoted went from $4000 on the low end to $18,000 on the high end. Northside's quote was right in the middle dollar-wise but included the highest quality materials. Marshall was very thorough and knowledgeable in answering all of my questions and providing an accurate and fair quote. Since my roof wasn't leaking (despite missing all of those shingles), we decided to wait till Spring to perform the install to have the best conditions. We missed the first scheduled installation date because of unscheduled rain storms but Northside's crew rescheduled for the the next good day and had the job finished in less than two days. I didn't have an opportunity to inspect the job (more rain) until a day later and found a couple if minor issues. I went over the issues with Marshall and he had a crew out there the next day. Jim arrived on time and had all of the issues corrected in less than 4 hours. Very proffessional. Very good results. Very pleased. I'll be calling Marshall soon to have my gutters replaced.

I went with another company who provided a lower price for same product and same work performed.

We received quotes from five contractors who had ?A? Angie?s List ratings. We chose Sal, the owner of Northside Roofing & Carpentry, because his price seemed reasonable and he?s a GAF Master Elite Contractor. Until we researched getting a new roof, we had no idea the significant difference between warranties. The shingle manufacturer does not certify all roofing contractors and for those who are, there are different levels of certification based in part, on regularly scheduled training. The level of certification significantly impacts the product and workmanship warranty. Without hesitation we recommend Sal for your roofing needs. He arrived on time for our appointment with a prepared folder of all pertinent information - products, warranties and insurances - and provided a written estimate for our two-day job during that appointment. We called a few days later with questions and he stayed on the phone until all questions were answered and understood. During the subsequent phone call to schedule the job, Sal let us know his foreman, Joe, and crew would arrive at 8 am and the dumpster between 9 and 9:30 am. At 7:59 am Joe and his crew pulled up to our house. The dumpster arrived at 9:15 am. The crew covered and protected the landscaping, windows, screened porch, deck and the lawn immediately adjacent to the house with tarps and plywood. Sal was there first thing to be sure everything was running smoothly and was in and out through job completion. Joe kept us informed throughout the day and easily answered questions. They cleaned up the plywood and tarps at the end of the first day, storing them as neatly as possible next to the dumpster. They came back and finished the job as scheduled, once again doing a great job cleaning up the yard, even sweeping the driveway. The gentleman who removed the dumpster the following day did a great job sweeping the driveway, too. Joe and his crew are some of the hardest workers we?ve ever seen. They did an outstanding job cleaning up each day. Suggestion: If the warranty is important to you, research and ask questions. All roofing/shingle warranties are not the same. Contractors can install a roof without factory-trained certification and there are different levels of certification. Some good questions to ask: (1) What are the possible levels of certification and what is your level? (2) Are the materials pro-rated or have full-replacement value? (3) What is the labor/workmanship warranty? We highly recommend Northside Roofing & Carpentry. Sal and Joe were easy to work with and our roof looks great!

I would definitely recommend Northside to anyone, hands down. We just purchased this house, and it needed a new roof right away. Since we had bad experiences with various contractors in the past, we joined Angie's List for its authentic, reliable reviews. On it, we saw Northside with a big star and great reviews. That encouraged us to call Northside for an estimate. Marshall came over and gave us the full scoop and price. He explained everything clearly and in full detail, leaving us fully informed. Marshall was also respectful and friendly and talked to both my husband and me equally. Impressed, we decided to hire Northside. In the interim, Marshall kept in regular contact and was easy to get a hold of. Then a crew of 6 arrived on 4/24 and finished on 4/25. The guys were all very friendly and professional and easy to approach with questions. They also were highly efficient, stayed on the job, and worked hard the whole day both days. During the job, the crew carefully leaned plywood against our vinyl siding to protect it from the debris. Then they put a large blue tarp down over the deck to protect against the debris. Also, they did a meticulous job cleaning up all the debris. They even ran a metal detector along the driveway to make sure they got all the loose nails. The crew left the grounds in excellent condition with no debris or damage anywhere. They did a thorough job on the roof and cut no corners anywhere. In summary, the crew worked like they were replacing their own roofs at their own homes. Northside is fully deserving of the high rating on Angie's List.

whole service took only 30 minutes.Sal came out to quote price to repair the same day I called. While he went up on the roof he did not notice any hole and recommended we get the caulking re-done to seal things up. He quoted $250 and indicated they would caulk the whole roof. He arranged for this to be done 2 days later and said that there would be someone there at 1230ish. The person arrived at 10.30am and was polite and introduced himself before going up on the roof. He found a loose piece of flashing that had popped up and put it back into position - thinking that was the source of the leak. He then caulked the roof. This whole service only took 30 minutes and seems a little bit more expensive for than I would have expected for the time taken. Overall it was a good experience and the truth was that several other companies did not even return calls. It was worth the money to get the problem fixed quickly rather than stress about the next rainstorm while waiting on someone to fix it.

I had three contractors give me estimates, two said my roof was in good shape and the repair could be done. Northside roofing (Sal) said He's not trying to sell me a roof but it really should be replaced and if he did do a repair he would not guarantee the work.The estimate he gave me was much higher than the other contractors (almost double).I did not even ask him to write up the estimate. I will never use this company.I did make an appointment with another company.I will write a review on that company after the work is performed.

He was very professional but we ended up using another company. He was great. He responded to my phone call and he was knowledgeable. His price is fair and the communication with him was good.

I've got several estimates from roofers and I felt most confident with them. He seemed knowledgeable and had the answers. He just put me at ease right away. The quote was probably in the middle and the timeframe that he was able to do the job also helped sway me in his direction. The other thing is he wasn't going to charge an extra for the skylights. He was going to order them from the company and not add on extra cost just for being that middle person in charge of getting the skylights, which other companies did. However, the workmen who came to do the job damaged a little bit of my confidence to them and I'm not so sure I will go with them again.

I called and set an appointment to get a quote for a new roof. The guy who came out was very nice and very helpful, however he never went on my roof. He did offer the best price to do the job, however he didn't spend as much time on the details as the contractor I went with.

They were very responsive to my initial quote request. Sal, the owner, visited and gave us a very thorough feel for the work needed on the roof/ The Sales Exec, Marshall, visited shortly thereafter for a very informative discussion of the various options on siding and windows. Quote was not the lowest, but they also lean more towards higher quality over being the low bidder. (they will make you aware of lower cost options they could take, but don't recommend). Marshall had a great sense for design and was very helpful in guiding us on a few areas where a small incremental investment made a huge difference in the quality of the end result (bay window, better entry door). All of the crews were very friendly and conscientious. When some fairly extensive water rot damage was found, the siding guys (who included some very skilled carpenters) literally rebuilt a corner of the house for a very nominal incremental charge. Cleanup was very through. Most importantly the end result was fabulous! We are thrilled with the quality of the workmanship and the way our house looks! We would be very to recommend and use Northside again.

Living in the city, it is extremely difficult to get contractors to give estimates, let alone perform work. Northside responded to my request within 24 hours and provided an immediate estimate. Marshall was very helpful in explaining my options and the various services they could provide. The work began and ended on the exact dates promised. This is inevitably a messy undertaking, but they cleaned up after each work day and did a thorough cleaning at the conclusion of the work.

Re-roofed my house. They did a very good job. They were punctual, worked hard, cleaned up afterwards, and the roof looks great!

I was contacted by Sal very promptly. He was very nice on the phone and he took care of my problem very quickly. I would definetely call him again!

Sal (the owner) is very honest and responsive. He stopped by and gave me an estimate, and stuck to the estimate even after unforeseen things came up that cost the company more than expected (such as needing more insulation than originally estimated, needing ridge venting over garage due to living space that wasn't accounted for), etc. Applied Angie's List coupon with no issues. Team was actually early (very punctual), hard working, and they cleaned up after themselves, leaving no trace other than a beautiful roof. I jokingly refer to them as the roofing Ninjas as I stopped by on the final day to check progress and they were already gone, dumpster an all. I asked for a few minor things to be done while they were up on the roof (quick-fixes) and they did them at no charge. I had a small issue that I discussed with Sal (not related to quality of work) and Sal took care of it promptly and professionally. I would use them again in the future, and would recommend them to neighbors and friends. Sal is a very honest individual, which is an increasingly rare trait.

We had our roof re-done by Northside after another contractor couldn't seem to get us on his calendar. I called on a Monday to see if they could come quote the job sometime that week, and Sal came over after work the same day. His quote was prompt and the price was good (about 10% below another guy we had come out that week). The crew came about 2 weeks later, tore off the old roof, and installed new architectural shingles. It looks great! They also vented bath fans outside (were vented to the attic), installed ridge vent, etc. We are happy with the work that was done and the level of professionalism.

Ours was a more complicated roof with 6 skylights, several chimneys/vents and many dormers and roof lines. Sal was very professional and courteous. His workers were the same. They answered every question and addressed every request. They cleaned up after themselves every day. The final job turned out very well. While there was some minor damage to our front slate walkway, landscaping and the gutters, they replaced the damaged gutters with no questions asked. (It is difficult not to have some minor damage to our landscaping no matter how careful they were because our landscaping is extensive and comes right up to the house from the yard.) The teams varied from 4 or 5 people to 7 people some days. The project took a little less than two weeks but they were dealing with several days of rain during that timeframe, and given the nature of our roof, they could only tear off one roof section at a time given the rain forecast. After they completed the job, there was very little that we found that needed to be picked up - just some very small pieces of old roof shingle in the ground cover and under some of the bushes. Northside is a quality company. We would highly recommend Northside for your roofing needs and we would use them again for our own needs.

The entire project went extremely well/smooth/excellent!! Initial meeting was with the owner/president,Sal. Sal was very complete in his presentation and at answering all questions regarding both the project and materials at both the first and second meeting. Upon acceptance of the proposal at the second meeting, Sal then detailed the project as to start date,how long to complete, and what to expect. The project started on time, with the crew(headed by Joe) doing a very professional job----completeing as we wre advised. Joe handled all our questions as the project progressed and gave special attention to our roofing needs. We are very pleased, would use Northside again, and would highly recommend Northside!!!!

Marshall, Northside's represented, was very friendly and informative. He spent a couple of hours explaining the GAF roof system and how the Northside Roofing crew would install it. He measured the dimensions and gave us an immediate quote. Because of roof leaks in our porch, Marshall arranged for Northside to install the new roof within 2 weeks. The crew was very professional. They completed all work within 2 days and did an excellent job cleaning all debris from around the house. The new roof looks great.

After receiving five estimates, all very close in price, we decided to contract with Northside to do the job. Our sales rep. was friendly, but really talked a good talk. Due to our work/vacation schedules we asked for a specific time frame to have the work performed. They were able to accommodate that, but did not give us a weeks noticed as we were told we would have. We were told that they would be done in three days, and it took five. The quality of the work was very good, and the final clean-up of our property was also very good. The main concern that we had was a lack of communication between our sales representative and their crew(s). I ended up staying home from work the whole week and acting as the communicator to make sure things were accomplished. Everyday there were different crew members so some things had to keep getting explained. For example- we had not planned on replacing our gutters, as the salesman suggested. But, by end of day one they had destroyed our gutters because they thought they were getting replaced. They did follow through in the end and provided us with all new gutters at a reduced cost. The sale representative had told us that "their guys" have been with them for many, many years and that they were well versed in tear-off jobs. It was very evident after a couple of days that they may have a foreman or two that have been long time employees, but all of the rest of the roofers were day labor and/or temps. Unfortunately, these foreman were running multiple jobs and only called the crews and occasionally stopped by. There was some damage to our landscaping and landscape lighting, but they did pay to have that repaired. As the roof goes the work was great - and let's face it, having a tear off of three roofs is never a pleasant experience! I would recommend Northside, just stay close by when the work is performed so you can see what's being done!

Working with Marshall, project manager, was excellent. The initial crew came in with a poor attitude which Marshall and Sal corrected. All-in-all the final project ended on a positive note with excellent workmanship, and clean-up. The gutter crew was excellent as well. Fast, clean, and excellent workmanship. My score for professionalism should reflect an A for Marshall and D for initial crew. My understanding is this crew was removed from the organization.

They did a good job. He was attentive to our issues, he came right out and took care of it right away. They are little bit more expensive than the other company.

The service was very good. They were timely, thorough and they gave us a fair price. It was an entirely positive experience. They were very good.

We obtained estimates from 5 companies, and ultimately narrowed it down to 2. While we made the very difficult decision to go with the other company. I am sure his company would have done a great job, too.

I can tell that the guy who came out was very great, very professional, nice but just looking at other companies, he was a little more on the pricier price. I think, I found him $1500 more expensive than some else but he was very nice and the only reason we didn't go with him was that he was a little more expensive.

It went great. He told me I had plenty of life left in my roof and saw no need to replace it at this time. I appreciated his honesty so much that when it does come time for a roof. He will be my guy.
