2016-2020 Super Service Winners! Owner Duane Carr has worked in the HVAC industry since graduating from Thaddeus Stevens State College of Technology in 1997. Duane started Prime Heating and Air Conditioning to provide Syracuse and the CNY Region with a local, independently owned HVAC company that earns the trust of its customers by doing quality work at reasonable prices. With Duane's commitment to family and community, he's built his business to include his two brothers, Neal and Eric, to provide outstanding service and local community support.

Duane was incredibly responsive, helpful and professional. On one of the first, hottest days of the season, we got a same day appointment - though his day was full (thank you so much again!). And this amongst calling multiple other companies who could not, some didn't even return my call (were booked out days/week). Duane was thorough, and gave helpful advice for going forward. Overall helping to get us out of current "overheated" state, while offering options and suggestions for future. Pricing was very reasonable, we will definitely look to Prime Heating and Air for any future air/heating issues. Very thankful to have found this honest, helpful company!

I contracted with this company for my yearly AC inspection for $81. They were punctual and communicative. I did not read angies list checklist though, After completion I received a receipt that included no information other than the price paid and charged especially no feedback as to work performed. Any time previously I have had this work perfomed it was $59 and they replace the air filter with a product they provided. This company used a filter next to my air conditioner, installed it I a manner not ideal bent, left the trash next to the furnace and never notified anyone of any issues with the furnace filter. My wife contracted with them upon leaving for our winter furnace inspection and paid up front for it. This is my last dealing with this company for poor attention to detail for at best average quality. I would love a refund on the winter inspection minimally, so I can go back to my non-angio list provider.

There are many sizes and types of filters used, we prefer to use the filter the cust. is using, unless otherwise told. Which we were not. Again you should have received an email detailing what was done. We did not receive an email saying it was a bad email address, along with not receiving any phone call from you saying you did not receive yet. We will contact you, send another detailed receipt and address any issues you may have."

Scheduling for both estimate and contracted work went as planned. Neal and Duane were punctual and professional. They installed furnace, a/c and water heater and cleaned up everything as discussed. They did forget the new thermostat, but promised to schedule to do that soon and have already done so. I liked that they are responsive to not only phone calls, but email and texting! I have owned several homes and hired many contractors over the years, it can be difficult to find honest and reliable companies. Prime Heating is one of those companies! I highly recommend them.

Over a 17 year period on a previous house, I had hired dozens of contractors to remodel, install, fix, and service various aspects of that house – and Duane & Neal Carr are, by far, the most honest, straightforward, value-conscious, reasonably-priced, and dependable contractors whom I have ever worked with. From the first minute of hearing Duane talk about his HVAC recommendations for my home, I knew that I was talking with one of those very rare contractors who are singularly-focused on making sure that his quote reflected the absolute maximum value for the dollars that I would be spending for the new equipment. Took advantage of coupon for a 20 point tune up special on my mid-90's air conditioner. Owner, Duane, cleaned and serviced my air conditioner in about an hour. Very professional and answered all my questions. His company is fairly new and doesn't have the overhead the others do, so his prices are reasonable and he didn't try to sell me anything, unlike other large heating and air conditioning businesses in the area. I like to support small local businesses and Duane and his company are giving quality and experience without the high costs. You can tell he takes pride in what he does and is an honest craftsperson. Good luck Duane and I'll be calling you for any future maintenance needed.

Both Duane and Neal of Prime Heating and Air were fantastic to work with. I called Prime to get a quote to replace our old fuel oil furnace, and they were by far the cheapest of the 3 companies I talked to, as well as the most helpful in describing the work to be done and answering questions. Neal called to set-up our appointment, as well as followed-up with an email. Duane arrived on-time the day of our scheduled install, and had let me know ahead of time that the job would take approximately 2 days. Duane and Neal both checked-in at the end of the first day to update me on the progress and tell me when they would be back in the morning - both were extremely kind, courteous, and knowledgeable. The job was completed as scheduled on the second day, and Duane gave me all of the directions to make sure to register the furnace for all of the warranty information. I would highly recommend Prime Heating for any HVAC related work, and we will definitely be calling them for future service.

I was very satisfied with his work. Was not real impressed with price I paid for humidifier. I looked the unit up on Amazon and I think the install price was a little high. Partly because i was on the fence about getting a humidifier. He did some duct work to improve furnace performance and and that was a+. Used things I had available and didn't try to sell me a lot of stuff I didn't need. If there is one area to improve it would be on the rebate. It would have been nice if it was part of the process instead of me having to go to the website and figure it all out. Don't like dealing with that stuff.

I first found Prime Heating and Air through an Internet search - I received a notification from Duane through Thumbtack. I hired him in May 2016 to clean and level a central air conditioning unit for a rental property I just bought last October, so I didn't know how long it had been since the unit had been serviced. His price was very reasonable ($59) and he did a great job so I kept him in mind for future work.

On July 1 I called him about my 2 family that has hot water baseboard heat. One of the bleeder valves on the 2nd floor had started leaking, and I knew the 1st floor boiler needed a new expansion tank. When I checked the basement I found the 1st floor boiler leaking and I was worried I needed a whole new boiler. Duane came out the next day to look at the boilers and see what parts he needed. He drained enough water out of the 2nd floor boiler so that the bleeder valve stopped leaking until he could fix it, and told me the leak in the 1st floor boiler was just the pressure relief valve. Duane came back with the needed parts on July 5th and performed the repair work on both boilers, and cleaned both boilers.

I'm sure the HVAC companies I've used in the past would have charged me at least $100 for a service call for the first visit to assess what was needed for the job and then at least twice what Prime Heating and Air charged.

I plan to use Prime Heating and Air for all my future HVAC needs.

Duane knew that we hadn't had the experience with the new functions of furnaces that are made today. They heat up the house differently. Everything went well. The installation of all the equipment was completed in two days, including adding a humidifier and some extra ducting we wanted in the basement. He also replaced the thermostat with a wi-fi type so now we can check and adjust the HVAC system while traveling. He gave us information on how to register the warranties and submit several rebates on some of the equipment. The work was done professionally and he removed and disposed of all the old components and cleaned up when done. I would highly recommend Prime Heating and A/C to anyone.
