Lee is great! He is extremely knowledgeable, you can tell he is not only very well educated in horticulture but also passionate about it. He had some great ideas and he was very easy to work with. He suggested ideas and he listened to ours until we came up with a mutually agreeable plan. Lee also was at our house every day, working and getting dirty right alongside his two friendly helpers. (The same two people who always work for Lee). We love the results and our neighbors continually compliment his work. We will most likely have Lee back next spring to perform some similar work in our rear yard. I like working with contractors who actually do what they say they will do, who are knowledgeable and respectful and who treat their staff well - Landscapes by Lee Itzler fits all of that criteria!

Lee was very knowledgeable and easy to work with. He always returns calls and shows up on time. His plants are healthy and well taken care of. We are very happy with our decision to use Lee.

Great. Lee was very up front with me about what to expect when I explained what I was looking for. I wanted something very simple vs. what my home's previous owners had and did not care for or maintain properly. He made sure I understood the look that would be achieved with the amount money I wanted to spend, and did not try to oversell me but worked with me to keep in the range of my budget. When the day arrived, he let me know when he was on the way. He had 2 helpers with him and they all worked very **** ** a very hot day. He consulted me several times throughout the afternoon to make sure I liked the progress and knew exactly what was going on, which was refreshing. Before planting the new plants, he laid everything out to make sure I liked the layout and once everything was done, he explained how to care for everything and what to expect maintenance-wise. He even helped us replace a sprinkler head that was broken before the work stated and adjusted my sprinklers so the plants would be sufficiently watered. Once the new mulch was put down, everything looked better that I expected. It was just what I wanted.

This spring we decided to fill in our in ground pool. We didn't know exactly what to expect when it was done but woke up the next morning and realized we had no idea what to do next. We really needed help. We called in a few landscaping/deck experts; one could only ask us to tell him what we wanted and another sent a 'designer' who drew a vague plan and didn't contact us again for two weeks, but Lee took the time and initiative to come up with a plan that sounded like what we wanted, on the spot. He asked us a lot of questions, made suggestions, looked at the soil, showed us how some of the ideas would look using his specialty landscape design software, gave us a workable price, and got the show on the road the following day. Cool. The job entailed brick patio work, building a fieldstone wall around two-thirds of the yard into which 70 arbs and perennials would be planted, updating our automated sprinkler system, and planting sod. The job was completed yesterday and we are thrilled with our new oasis. I especially love the curvatures in both the brickwork and rock wall and how well the sod follows those lines. Beautiful. Lee has a ton of plant and soil wisdom. He understands the unique soil characteristics that exist in different parts of Long Island and he chooses the most appropriate plants that will thrive in your yard. Lee is meticulous and passionate about his work and you can see it in the results. He is there every day, doing the work along side his team. They were professional, reliable, trustworthy, experienced and easy to work with — all the attributes you’d hope for. I expect to call him again next year when our arbs need trimming. I’m especially looking forward to next spring to see the flowering plants bloom for the first time. Lee gets an extra star for making such a sweet connection with our standard labradoodle! Awwww.

Work done very promptly Minor damage done to Japanese maple ...mulch applied carelessly over bottom branch breaking branch One plant in center of one pot fell I bought a stake and repaired myself. Excellent. Lee (the owner) came himself the day after I called. He explained what he could do and costs. Using a computerized designing program he suggested designs that could work around some of the root problems in order to stay within our budget and achieve a really artistic effect. On one side of the walk he created a low walled-in focus piece with a newly planted spruce tree sorrounded by beautiful plantings with many plant varieties. On the other side, framing the house, he suggested planting a dogwood tree, a dwarf Japanese maple and several beautiful shrubs, again surrounded by many varieties of plants. Lee came the next week, as scheduled, and did exactly as planned, achieving a beautiful effect. He is professional and a pleasure to work with. I will be using his services annually for upkeep, trimming and planting of annuals.

The result was that Lee was able to bring all the suggested plantings and then some for us to choose. He completed the project, including beautifully re-sculpting our beds, within one day! From the day he first proposed the plan to completion was three days. We especially appreciated his response time because it was so late in the season. We chose Lee because he has his own nursery, grows his own plants, and is a horticultural expert. We are delighted with the results and are thrilled that we have new landscaping before Thanksgiving. Lee was easy to work with, his prices were competitive, and I would highly recommend him.

It was a pleasure to work with Lee on my landscape design project on the front garden. It turned out excellently. When he arrived on the first appointment, we went for a ride around the neighborhood so we could discuss design and styles that I liked so he had clear understanding of what I was looking for. He nailed it. The garden looks beautiful. I catch neighbors admiring it as they walk by. Very proud if it. I like Lee's style, We communicate together on the same level. All around a top-notch block who was a pleasure to work with. I have an ongoing partnership with him and he comes around to do pruning and maintenance to keep everything looking in tip-top shape. Lee did a great job for us. He was onsite and actually working with his team during the entire process. Lee is obviously very knowledgeable about both plants and landscape design, which is a large part of the value that he brings to the table. He is also an artist....and we can't wait to watch as his design develops over the next 1-3 years and grows into place. We are very pleased with the entire experience and would not hesitate to recommend Lee to anyone looking for high quality landscape design.

Overall, working with Lee was a pleasure. He and his crew initially removed almost everything that had been planted in front of our house. He then created a small, raised curved stone area to set off a new weeping cherry tree, and put topsoil down before planting two other small trees and a number of shrubs and perennials. Unfortunately, one of the trees, a pretty little blue spruce, didn't make it. In addition, after 4 months had passed, I was not happy with the progress of several of the shrubs and a couple of the perennials. When I called Lee, he was both pleasant and accommodating. He asked me what I'd like for him to plant instead. He was there promptly on the date we scheduled and took care of everything. I'm now delighted with how the garden looks. I'm also confident that the entire area will be beautiful and full by next spring. Lee Itzler is a professional who stands by his work and is committed to making his customers happy. I'd definitely recommend Lee to anyone looking for landscaping services.

We needed to rebuild our entire front yard and plant bed. Lee was the perfect choice. His expertise in landscape architecture and design, combined with his experience and professionalism, allowed us to achieve our goals. Lee took the time to answer all of our questions and addressed our needs. We now are well on our way to having a beautiful front landscape, with a nice, colorful blend of plants and perennials. Lee basically has a PHD in plants. He explains things in detail, the different options (good and bad), recommendations and thoroughly walks you through how to maintain them to maximize your landscaping investment.

It was a terrific experience. Lee really listens to you when you explain what you do and don't want. We were able to trade ideas and come up with the rock feature that my husband and I love. While Lee is very responsive to your concerns, he is also good about explaining why a particular idea might not be so smart (in our case, waiting to cut down an ailing tree.) He came when he said he would and was incredibly neat when he worked. Throughout the process, he was very transparent about explaining what the job was going to cost. There were no unpleasant surprises. It was a pleasure working with him and we will bring him back to do more work when our remodeling is done.

One hour after contacting Lee I received a return call and we arranged to meet that evening at my home. He showed up promptly and we checked out the area to be worked, discussed ideas and the budget I had to work with. He was able to quickly interpret my broad concept and had a plan together in about an hour. He and his crew returned 3 days later as arranged and they immediately went to work. They worked fast and Lee was there, hands on, the whole time. We are very happy with the result and would not hesitate to use him again on another project.

Lee was terrific working with us to alter our landscaping to meet all of our needs.  He grows his own stock which gave us great confidence in the quality of the plants, and his design has dramatically improved the appearance of our house and grounds.  He came when he said he would and finished the work ahead of schedule.  We have lived in our house for almost 40 years, and the existing shrubbery and trees became overgrown.  Efforts by our gardeners to prune what we had resulted in great damage.  Lee helped us to understand that removing much of what we had and starting fresh would produce a much better result, and he was right. His designs are wonderful, and he fully thinks through what will work best given lighting conditions in each area.  We are really looking forward to seeing how it looks in the next two years when the plantings will mature, adding color and variety throughout our property. That said, we could not be happier with the way our grounds look now, even when the plants are young.

I called Lee and he answered his own phone and was able to come over quickly to give an estimate. I am not good with plants and didn't have a great idea of what I wanted. I basically just wanted to clear up an out-of-control area of my front yard. This area has been depressing for me to look at and I have not been successful in figuring out what to do with it. Lee looked it over, and presented a landscape design via computer. Without a hard sell, he told me that my budget was low for what I wanted. I ended up paying more than I expected, and frankly I don't know if it was a good deal or not. But my confidence in his design, his professionalism, his communication skills and his flexibility to work with my schedule made it worth taking the chance and going forward with the project. On the day the services were provided, Lee brought a few choices for me to pick from and set them up in the area that we were working with so I could see how they would look. He gave input about what would thrive there and what would be trickier (important since I tend not to have a green thumb, so I wanted something hardy and mistake-proof!). He listened to my opinions, but I tended to go with his suggestions. He was there the whole time. He and his men worked quickly...and magically a garden appeared! I would not hesitate to recommend him.

We found Lee's number through Angie's list and he called us back that night. We gave him an idea of what we wanted and the budget that we had in mind.  Once Lee came to the house to see what we needed, it was clear that he was very knowledgeable in all areas of landscaping and plants. His education and experience made us feel comfortable with our choice to use his services. He showed us, on his computer, what our garden would look like once the plantings were completed. 
Lee took out old existing plants and overgrown shrubs. He did keep one that he said was worth keeping and this also helped keep us within our budget. He also helped by cutting and pruning one of our trees which wasn't originally part of our request but at the time of planting, he pointed out needed to be done in order to give more light to our new plants. 

The new garden beds look beautiful. We were very happy with the results and can't wait to see how everything grows in this summer.

Mr Itzler was there for the entire day along with two helpers.  They had their work cut out for them once they started digging, since the yard is root filled from a very large tree in the yard.  They arrived at the time discussed and work began immediately.  It was the season's first 80 degree day.  Mr. Itzler made sure everything was symmetrical and made sure the plants were placed in a pattern that would create the "screen" we are looking for.  My yard looks wonderful.    Some plantings I had done were moved (he asked if minded) and they were replanted elsewhere.  He brought many smaller plants that I pick from and then placed them through the area to balance the new area.  (Previously this area moss covered and very rooty from a very tall tree)  
All I can say is it looks great.  The bed is all planted and mulched.  They cleaned up everything and the yard is perfect.  We are looking forward to more planting in the fall.  I will only call this company.  I highly recommend them.

Such a great experience working with Lee.  He takes the time to listen to how you envision your space and creates possibilities that fit into your budget. Our yard was full of poor planting choices that could endanger the foundation of our new home and a grossly neglected backyard.  Lee was able to do what we honestly couldn't even attempt ourselves and created a space that I wasn't embarrassed for friends and family to see.  I'm so glad I saw someone else's review on Lee's work in Angie's List Magazine and called him.  I pull into my driveway now and smile.  Thank you Lee!
