GOLD COAST GARAGE DOORS

I called this service provider because they had been the original installer when our townhome was built in 2001. I did not think this was going to require more than an adjustment of the tension on one side of the door - possibly the replacement of a spring. The provider at first seemed interested in helping. After initial phone tag, he suggested a time to come on a Friday that I had already said would not work. He said he would call me back the following Monday, and he never did. I did not try to contact him again. Despite the rest of the 'A' reviews on Angie's List, he didn't seem serious about providing service, at least to me.

Outstanding! Excellent! Joe Gunther (owner) came and quickly diagnosed the problem and returned the next day to do the work, both days on time. The 11-year old door (installed when house was built) was acting erratically, noisy, "stuttered" while opening/closing, sometimes wouldn't open all the way, and the rod between the closer and the door would flex. Joe said it was a broken spring which could not be seen because the door manufacturer (Wayne-Dalton) enclosed the spring in the metal rod housing across the top. It could be repaired, but parts would have to be ordered and might take a long time to get or no longer be available because they were unique to the manufacturer. The cost would be about the same as installing a more conventional external spring/rod assembly that most doors come with and is readily available. I said let's go with it. Joe's work was very skillful, neat, meticulous and thorough and he adjusted the closing setting while testing the door for proper operation. I thought the price was reasonable given the materials and the time that went into doing the job. Couldn't be more pleased. Highly recommended.

Our garage door cable broke so the automatic garage door would no longer open when the garage door opener was pressed.
The last time we had a similar issue with the garage door was about 9-10 years ago. We decided not to use the same guy since he had a stupid policy of charging $75 for a review of your problem and providing an estimate. Apparently, according to recent reviews for him on Angie's list, he still has this ridiculous policy. I am not going to let this clown come back and tell me I have a broken cable (which I already know I have) and make believe he will fix it at a discounted price. Sorry Alan Conkling, but we are getting too old and smart to deal with guys like you.


Anyhow, I called up Gold Coast Garage Doors last evening based upon great reviews here on Angie's list along with the fact that they are located in my neighborhood. I left a message on their answering machine. First thing this morning, Joe from Gold Coast calls me and says that he has a couple of service calls to make first but he can stop by around 11:00AM this morning. At about 11:00AM, Joe pulls into my driveway and with no fuss and no muss, looks over the situation and fixes the cable and the other cable (that was on it's way out also). He then lubed and cleaned all working parts of the system along with testing the system and making some minor adjustments. After a pleasant conversation, he left about 30 minutes after he arrived and my garage door was back to normal...better than normal.


His fee was very reasonable and was a bit less than we expected. If we have any future need of any repairs related to our garage doors, Joe from Gold Coast will be called without thinking about it twice. In addition, we will be happy to recommend him to family and friends--Joe from Gold Coast is A+ all the way.

Response time was good with work done professionally. Operating very well since repair.

In terms of price, it was considerably less than the estimate of the guy who I was previously using. I found him to be excellent. The guy was reasonable and prompt. He came when he said. In fact, I had a broken spring and I could not even open the garage door, he came and opened it. There was no problem at all, he took care of it and replaced the spring. He charged a lot less than the previous spring I had replaced, by another group. I would most definitely use this guy again. In terms of price, he was very reasonable.
