Shelley Salon & Day Spa

Very pleased with the results. I have been going to this salon since it opened and have never had a bad experience. I find Shelley's attention to detail second to none, especially when it comes to trimming my beard.

Went 1st time July 2016 for a change and I have been happy since.

My eyebrows were waxed by Shannon and she did a FANTASTIC job.  The facility was clean, relaxing and nice.  She did a great job.
My haircut was not the best.  Unfortunately, I do not remember her name, but she had purpleish-pink hair.  Usually I do not really care that much (my hair is simply not that important to me), but this time I ended up going back the next week to get it fixed.  I just wanted it up off my shoulders, no layers.  She asked if I wanted layers or angled in the front, and I said yes to angled in the front.  The next thing I knew I was getting layers.  Okay, a miscommunication.  Again, I don't care that much about my hair.  It grows.  I wanted it shorter, but she seemed hesitant to cut it any shorter and I ended up leaving with my hair 1) not as short as I wanted and 2) with layers.  All weekend, the length and the layers were driving me crazy.  It was not a very good haircut, with random clumps of hair longer than all the rest.  It was the worst haircut I had ever received.  Not to mention it was not as short as I wanted it - although I have not idea why.  I like to get it cut shorter so that it grows out and I am not getting a haircut every few weeks.  
Unable to handle it anymore, I called and told them I needed it fixed.  They could not have handled it better.  I got an appointment that day with the same girl.  I was hesitant to go to her again, but I did.  She thanked me for coming back and quickly cut it all to the shortest layers so that the layers were gone and it was finally the length I wanted.  I was not charged for the fix.
Although they handled it EXTREMELY well and professionally, I was still not thrilled with the haircut.  I still have some pieces that are not even with the rest.  
In short, I give them an A for their professionalism and the quality eyebrow wax.  I will definitely go back for an eyebrow wax there, but likely not a haircut, even though it was $35 which is a good price.

Since that review, I went back to get my eyebrows waxed in January.  Shannon was not available, so I booked with Jessica, who I don't know.  I just know that I did NOT want the girl who messed up my hair.  I got several confirmation texts, confirming my appt with Jessica.  I get there and much to my surprise, the girl who messed up my hair is doing my eyebrows.  I know Jessica was there because I heard someone call her by name.  So, for some reason they re-scheduled me without telling or asking me.  The experience was awful.  The girl barely waxed my brow and I ended up tweezing them when I got home.  She also did it at a sink and not in the nice room, as usual.  She did not even put a towel on the sink and it freaking hurt when she was pushing my head into a washing sink.  She also was walking all the way across the room to get wax.  It was totally unprofessional.

Basically, I felt like a third or fourth-rate client.  The person I booked with was there, but I was changed to this pink haired immature girl without anyone telling me.  Unbelievable.  I HATE this place.

Last night I got a haircut at another salon in Colonie and it was SO professional and wonderful.  I got the haircut I wanted back in September (longer in the front, shorter in the back) which the pink-haired monster told me not to do.  Well, I did it with a professional stylist and it is GREAT!  I love it and I will never step foot in Shelley's again and I will go out of my way to tell people not to go there.

I have been using this facility for seven years. Shelley the owner is very skillful with hair cutting and hair styling. The staff are very professional and polite. I would continue to use them.

They are very professional, courteous, and creative. She herself, my stylist and also the owner, I really just know her and one of her staff member that are really good and responsive to what you ask. She is a little bit pricey.

Shannon was so nice, friendly and comforting. I will definitely be going back for another facial! She made the experience perfect.

Everybody is friendly and I like the personality of the girl that did the service. She was on time and the cost is very reasonable. I would tell people to give them a try.
