The design and construction went very well. We were very pleased with the result. Crown Construction has done many projects for us over the years and we are always satisfied with their workmanship.

They were able to start our project before they had initially said, so that was great. Workers were friendly if we had any problems we could call the project manager and he would be at the house very soon. Clean up could have been a little better, but overall we had no problems

Christian Assembly of God needed a new roof due to wind blowing shingles off. Crown helped work with our insurance and got the work done and interior finished from water damage. We also hired them to install new vinyl replacement window in the pastor's housing. In the past we have hired the for several other projects. I love working with Crown Construction from start to finish of every project we have had them to do.

I've had two projects designed and completed through Crown Construction. I was completely pleased and satisfied each time. The first project was a bathroom rehab. It went so well and came out beautifully. I then hired them to install a new picture window and front door, which is such an improvement to my home inside and out. They took their time exploring possible design aspects for both projects, and together we came up with the final product. They are expert in what they do from beginning to end. Dependable and communicative. On time to arrive when they say, on schedule, and within budget. What more could a customer ask?

Great! We had a specific brand of door we wanted and the Crown team was able to Get it for us and install. They were awesome guys with which to work, on time, clean, friendly but not "pesty", right on budget.

Huge project, but completed beautifully. Design was solid, and the actual work, while long and arduous, was completed in a courteous and professional manner. Foreman Brian Callahan excelled at problem-solving and troubleshooting throughout the project (for those issues that inevitably arose), and offered suggestions where indicated. The final product is exactly what we had hoped for - and it was NOT easy!

Completely satisfied. Jeff did a super job explaining scope of work and materials involved. Cost was right where I expected it to be. The crew showed up when they said they would and completed the job efficiently and expertly. Communication was fabulous. Crown did such a great job they are the only contractor I called for my next big project which is a complete bathroom gut job. I highly recommend them.

It started 5/7/18 and is not done yet. There have been numerous mistakes in ordering material, very poor quality work, damage to our lawn and landscaping, work site not cleaned up, no follow through in resolving problems. Communication is non-existent. Nothing has gone the way we were told it would. This project has been a disaster.
Response from Crown Construction Inc

"I have just talked to [Member Name Removed], as I highly respect her as a fellow business owner, Neighbor, and a past customer. [Member Name Removed] wrote this review in August of 2018 and I never saw it as I was not in the habit of looking at reviews on line. In October of 2018 I met with [Member Name Removed] and her husband at her request, along with the Project Consultant and our Production Manager. From that meeting we were able to resolve her issues and take care of the nagging details that to date were not finished. I agree with her assessment that our communication was poor, clean up was not complete, and our responsiveness to the issues on the job was not acceptable. During this time period I had transitioned to a new Production Manager, who was still learning the Crown system. Compound that with a fore man that we had promoted from lead carpenter who did not make the transition successfully. (After a couple of jobs he asked to be relieved of his fore man duties and shortly there after left our company). No excuses, I told [Member Name Removed] I take full responsibility for my companies performance, and for putting a foreman on her job that did not meet our standards of communication. In talking to [Member Name Removed] today I learned that one of the entrance doors was sticking and that one of the Gutter seams had a leak in it. [Member Name Removed] and I agreed that i would send our Handy Man out to take care of these issues. After this is accomplished I believe [Member Name Removed] will say that our quality was good on this job. [Member Name Removed] did say in our conversation that " I know Crown's quality is excellent". We had previously worked on her home 5 different times with great success. We just really disappointed her with our process and lack of communication on this one. (breaking my heart of course!). Sincerely, Jeff Fredrickson, Owner, Crown Construction"

I had them come to bid on a roofing project for me.  They were very, very expensive. They were much higher than anyone else. They pressured me to get the job done. They kept trying to use different tactics to pressure me into using them. I did not use them.

The biggest thing they could have done was to not pressure me. I was recently widowed and I really felt like they were trying to take advantage of me.
Response from Crown Construction Inc

"Hi [Member Name Removed], My apologies for not reading this sooner. I looked up your appointment that you had with one of our Project Consultants. Back then I had received another call from a previous customer of mine that also complained of him using pressure tactics. He no longer works for Crown Construction. I agree there is not place for pressure tactics. We are well known to be a non pressure company on our appointments. Our company policy is to set an upfront verbal contact with people within the first 10 minutes of the appointment giving them permission to say No at any time, and also getting permission from them to have us also decline the job if we do not feel like we are the right fit for them. This should have been done for you as well, and it makes me feel very bad that you felt any pressure, or manipulation at all. So please accept my heart felt apologies for having one of my employees make you feel uncomfortable! I am glad you stood up for yourself and did not give us the work. As far as the price I am wondering if we were comparing apples to apples in your price comparisons. For 9 out of 10 roofs that we do, we provide the GAF Golden Pledge warrantee, which is a lifetime warrantee on materials and a 20 year warrantee on our labor backed up by the manufacturer.(GAF). That roof is definitely much more expensive than a standard roof. And you should have been given the option of choosing the less expensive roof as well. I hope you were satisfied with whoever did your roof and that you now feel well protected from the elements! Sincerely, Jeff Fredrickson, Owner, Crown Construction"

Representative responded quickly and kept in touch through the decision process.  The issue was the price was way higher than other contractors were offering and there seemed to be a great deal of pressure with the sale.  Not helpful in offering ways to repair the roof to make it to spring, and pressure to do it now.  Found another contractor who could do it now or repair roof until spring and cost was almost half of what these guys wanted.
Response from Crown Construction Inc

"I'm sorry that we were unable to help you with your roof. Hopefully all went well with the contractor you hired. If there is something we can do for you in the future, please let us know."

Called Crown Construction in a panic due to major ice dams on roof.  They were able to respond fairly quickly.  Showed up a day later than promised due to a job in Cortland taking longer than expected.  They broke up the dams in a couple of hours.  The cost was much higher than I was quoted on the phone (most jobs only take a couple of hours ~$300).  I was shocked when I received the figure of $561.  After expressing some disappointed they did credit me $50 to the bill.  Even still, I would not use them for this work again.  Major damage was done to a lot of the shingles on the roof.  Even the plywood under the shingles was damaged.  Next time, I will definitely be using a roofing company to clear the area if it gets bad.
Response from Crown Construction Inc

"Please accept our apologies for any misunderstanding between the initial phone call and the actual job. As you indicated in your review, your home did experience major ice dams. Our notes indicate your ice dam was four feet deep and several inches thick. It took our two-man crew several hours to get through the ice that had been requested to be removed and for that you did get charged accordingly. The ballpark cost initially given to you was based on what we had experienced with other roofs, which were less involved. The amount of ice build up on your roof was completely unforeseen. The disclaimer you had signed explained that there is a risk involved with these types of jobs. However, we are totally unaware of the amount of damage you described in regard to your roof. After speaking to our Roofing Superintendent, he would like to take a look at your roof once it's walkable (spring 2016) to assess any damage. Again, we are sorry for any misunderstanding."

Completely repaired it making it stronger than before. Has been stable now for 1 year. My 83 year old mom leans on the sink when in the bathroom, the repair they made has worked so well the sink is strongly attached and hasn't budged with moms weight.

The work they did was fine but they charged my credit card before the work was done.
I would only go to them for handyman services as their estimates for larger projects are always 2X other estimates.
Response from Crown Construction Inc

"Thank you [Member name removed] for your feedback. We have since changed our policy on the handyman services wherein we do not charge the credit card prior to completion of the job. We appreciate your input. As far as our pricing being "two times" more than the other quotes you had gotten, we are very competitive with our pricing with like companies. Of course, the independent contractor will be less due to the size of the respective company. However, Crown Construction has a team of second-to-none craftsmen that are specialized to the type of project requested. We have addressed issues many times over for customers that the original contractor is no longer in business and consequently, unable to honor any warranties. And frankly, that is why so many in the area choose Crown Construction. Thank you again for your feedback."

It went exceptionally well. We had done a much more extensive remodel on a previous house, so we knew what to expect. Crown was professional, responsive, and flexible. They were willing to work with us in our desire to do some of the work and purchase some of our own fixtures. The craftsmen that were assigned to our project (Rob and Vlad) were outstanding!
Some highlights:
- We reused the high-end kitchen cabinets that the previous owner had installed. Crown took them out and reinstalled them better than ever.
- We had an inspiration about how to finish one room with a built out ledge all the way around it. The new idea was smoothly incorporated into the finished product, and it looks great.
- Communication was reliable and consistent.
- Scheduling and negotiating with the trades (electric and plumbing) was smooth and without incident.
- The job came in on time and a bit less than we anticipated.
If you're not into playing the general contractor yourself, I  highly recommend Crown!

Nearly 2 years ago now I set up an appointment for an estimate on having a bathroom fan installed.  They gave me the estimate and told me purchase the fan and a vent kit on my own and then call back to schedule.  Once that was arranged, they weren't able to accommodate my schedule while I was working M-F because they were off on the the holidays I had off, they wouldn't come later in the day, and will never do a Saturday appointment.  They actually suggested that they come in when I'm not home to do the job (a violation of my boundary and not something I would every consider.  Plus they didn't think I needed to be there for my opinion on how anything was done?  Just a free-for-all in my house?) After a year of that, I caved and decided that I should spare a Friday and emailed several times to schedule something.  My emails were ignored for weeks and and when they finally got back to me, I was told I would get a call.  Well, the message left for me was extremely rude, saying that if I couldn't find anybody else to do it (as in another company altogether) then they would maybe consider doing the job.
I had actually worked with this company before and left a "A" rating.  Obviously this business is being run differently now.  I'm not interesting in going back for further work with them anymore, and wish I could have the time back I wasted waiting on them and giving them the benefit of the doubt.  They don't care about return customers anymore and apparently this job isn't worth their time.  Customer respect and appreciation are, unfortunately, a thing of the past when it comes to Crown Construction.
Response from Crown Construction Inc

"Please accept our apologies for the frustration you experienced with Crown Construction. We had received your initial correspondence on July 15, 2013, in which we set up an appointment for you to meet with one of our reps. However, that rep is no longer here at Crown. Email correspondence was initiated again in February, 2014, at which time we tried to schedule a time for our handyman to complete the installation. However, in reply, you had indicated that the only available time you had other than nights was on Memorial Day, Labor Day, or July 4th - our offices were closed on those particular holidays. The following day (2/18/2014) we offered the option of our handyman meeting with you some morning at 7am. And in that same email I did indicate that if you had to leave before the job was complete, our handyman would be sure to secure your home. I did not realize this was an offense to you since we had worked for you in the past and I did not receive anything to the contrary. Please accept my apologies. Quite often we are in homes without the homeowner there due to the varying work schedule(s) of all parties involved. In the next correspondence on September 29, 2014, you indicated that possibly a Friday might work. At this point, it did take me six (6) business days (October 7th) to get back to you due to trying to confirm our handyman schedule; however, it was going to be two to three weeks out to do the job. Please accept my apologies for that delay in replying to your email. It is my understanding that our handyman did leave you a message indicating that since our schedules didn't seem to be meshing, it might be to your advantage if you were able to find someone who could do that installation on a Friday sooner than we could. Our intent was never one of ill will. Customer service is important to us and certainly apologize for any misgivings that were created about Crown Construction."

We found Crowne Construction on Angie's list and saw they had good reviews so we called them about a fairly extensive home renovation project (our best guess is that it will be in the $30,000 range).  We set an appointment time for them to come give us an estimate.  My husband and I both took off work to be there and they never showed.  These things happen some times and we're pretty laid back, so we weren't too upset about it.  But when we called the office to see what happened we got a response along the lines of  "oh, really?  huh ...  I'll pass your message along..." and then we never heard back from them again.  Irritating.
Response from Crown Construction Inc

"Please accept my apologies for the unprofessional response - or lack thereof - that you had gotten from Crown Construction. That definitely is not our way of doing business and am sorry that you did not hear back from us. Initially when we realized that we were unable to make the scheduled time due to a previous appointment running over, we did call at that point but apparently didn't connect. If you would be so kind as to allow us a second opportunity to meet with you, we would love to touch base with you."

After having them redo our much outdated kitchen, we had them back to redo our laundry room.  I was out of town, and my husband gave the foreman our key to come and go when needed and remake our new room.  When I came home, I was so pleased with their work!!!  I would NEVER hire another firm to do anything in our home now.  They meet all expectations and then some!!

Love, love, love them.....
