I did the the bathroom demolition and debris removal and removed all the carpeting and drop ceilings ahead of their start time. I bought, filled and arranged for the pikup of 3 full Bagsters. I demod the bathroom up to approximately 85% of what needed to be done and they completed the rest. They did not work past 5pm, did not work any Saturdays and did not stay on site for more than a few days at a time. although the job was completed by 3/28 it was needlessly dragged out by their other commitments and scheduling issues on their end. I had to hire, schedule and manage the painting, carpenter and hardwood floor subs which I reviewed and all got A ratings from me, in order to be moved in on schedule. My final prices for these jobs were all significantly less than the quotes from QPM. In addition I overhauled the basement and had the roof replaced separately by other well reviewed companies.
Greg was not on site managing the process. He stayed in communication with me and his team and was easy to get a hold of but he was only on site for a few minutes at a time on 6 or 7 occasions at most. His crew was professional, clean, organized and personable. They were easy to communicate with and worked well with me. I learned to respect and trust their input and experience. One team (plumbers and framers) stared very early and left early and the electrician would start late but stay late. On two occasions city inspectors showed up and they were not here so I had to show them around.
At the end of the day I paid QPM just over $20,000 and the vast majority of that was my bathroom which only measures 7 x 6 and we did not move the plumbing significantly or expand or move the walls and I did 85% of the demo. I also bought and delivered all of the materials, flooring and fixtures (minus the wood and sheetrock) in a timely manner and had them pre-positioned for them.
There were a few add on items that I requested ; hooking up the appliances in the basement, installing the storm door in addition to the exterior doors, and installing fluorescent lights I bought in the basement. I was not notified of the cost of several change orders that were required during the install and these were presented at the time of payment.
The slop sink they reconnected downstairs leaked after they installed it which they immediately fixed. The vinyl tiles in the bathroom are coming up in one spot since they did not use the heavy roller to press them down. I had to apply weights to correct it.
