Tri-State came to install the window on January 16, 2014. After taking out the old window and preparing the opening to accept the new window, they began to install the new window. At that time we noticed that the window was not nearly as deep as the old window, although we had thought that it would be very close in size. We called Paul, and 20 minutes later we were told that there had been a mistake at the factory, and that they would make a new window for us. The installers made a temporary installation of the incorrect window and insulated it so that we would not have any drafts.
The new window was delivered and installed 8 days later. The workmanship was performed efficiently and the installers were very professional.
Tri-State Window Factory lived up to its reputation for providing excellent customer service. Any company can make a mistake. The important thing is how the company then responds. Tri-State Window Factory is clearly an honorable company that strives to make their customers happy.
Windows & doors are in look great. A/C removed from 2nd floor, can not tell there was one from the out side. Inside hole was patched , just need to be painted.
Clean was very good. Could not tell they worked out side or in side.
window. Job started early , finished early. Cleanup was excellent...
I met with Paul, who showed me the windows they had, and then sat down with me to work out my needs and pricing. There was no pressure to sign, and he patiently answered all my questions. He then took me on a tour of the factory, which I found both interesting and informative. The windows seem to be well constructed, and the factory itself was impressive.
After some additional research, I decided to go with Tri-State, and called Paul. He came to my house to go over the final details of the order.
At that time he called to company to set a date for someone to come and measure the windows. The measurer came on the scheduled date, and the next day I received a call from Tri-State to set a date for installation, which was only 10 days later.
The workers arrived on time, but were unable to complete the job in 1 day. The following day I was informed by Cleve, the primary installer, that he would be returning 4 days later to finish the job. I felt this was too long to wait, so called and left a message with Paul. Paul returned my call within 1-2 hours to let me know that Cleve and his assistant would be there at 8:00 the next morning. They arrived on time and completed the job that day.
The windows are beautiful; the work was exquisite. Cleve is an artist when it comes to shaping the aluminum for the outside of the windows. The work inside was done efficiently, and with minimum disruption to the interior. They were diligent in cleaning the area after installing each window.
The whole window replacement went smoothly and efficiently, except for the snag about scheduling the second day of work, and this was remedied quickly and efficiently by Paul.
All in all I am more than satisfied with Tri-State Window Corp. and would definitely used them again.
Installers did a GREAT job installing the windows they were given to install.
They sealed all windows completely and cleaned up all the clippings and trash.
Installers get an AAA+++ from me. Never had better guys doing work for me.
Meticulous workers! Here is the complete story..... Salesman came and demo'd
the windows. Gave a good presentation and price. Signed a contract to have 3
double hung and 1 Hopper window installed. So far so good. Then the measurer
came to measure the window openings to be replaced. This is where the problem
lies.....Since I had pondered doing the window replacements myself and wanting
then to go with the "New Construction" style of window, I removed the
interior molding from one of the hardly used bedrooms window to measure the
"rough opening" before the Tri-State salesman arrived. The measurer
saw this and asked if I was going to replace the moldings. Knowing that
"replacement style" windows are installed into the currently
installed window frame, not needing to disturb the interior window moldings, I
answered yes and he began taking his measurements. When the crew came to
install the windows on 10/29/2013, they removed all the interior window
moldings and began the installation. Once I noticed this and questioned why
they were removing the moldings, the reply was that their work order stated
that "customer will replace the moldings" and that the windows they
have to install will not fit unless they removed the moldings and the entire
old window, including it's frame. I was a bit confused at this point but
figured they know what they are doing, more-so than I do. Once the windows were
installed and the job completed, I had no interior moldings on any of the newly
installed double hung windows. I finally found out that the windows they were
given to install where not sized as typical "replacement style"
windows but sized as "new construction type" windows which made them
larger. With the measurer having some sort of non-American accent, I chalked it
up to a major miscommunication/misunderstanding. I called the office and spoke
to the salesman and explained the problem. His reply was that I didn't pay for
the installation of interior window moldings. He further asked me if I wanted
the moldings installed and that they would do it for $250 a window.....the man
either totally missed the point or was just playing stupid. After numerous
tries of some eye opening conversation, I realized that I would not get an
intelligent understanding or answer from a brick wall so I spoke to the
manager. Although he agreed to supply the materials and a man to replace the
moldings, he still had to charge me his bottom line of $100 a window saying
that he couldn't loose money by doing it for free. If he understood or not that
this problem is not mine, he didn't acknowledge the fact that his measurer
measured the windows incorrectly which resulted in this mess. For what ever
reason, he just does not get the fact that his company screwed up the measurements
and it is his company?s obligation to correct the situation, without my
contribution of any additional monies. Well, maybe the judge will explain it
better to him so he can understand the situation more clearly. My problem now
is having 2 bedrooms without moldings/blinds for privacy. So, make sure your
contracts state something about if moldings are removed they will be
re-installed upon completion of the window installation or I will end up giving
you my judges name!
UPDATE:
November 06, 2013
During my last conversation with Andrew on Friday, 11/1/2013, we came to the agreement that he will provide the labor and materials to replace the removed window moldings on two of the 3 windows. This was because I had removed the moldings myself on the 3rd window and did not expect Tri-state to include that window...rightly so. He stated that I would receive a phone call Saturday morning to make the appointment to have the work done. The call came at 8 am. The appointment was made for Tuesday 11/5/2013 between 12 pm and 1 pm. The workers arrived early, about 10 am and completed the job as well as cleaning up after themselves perfectly. I fully understand that nobody likes to lose money but what is more important in the long run is that your reputation remains to be an A+ for which I am happy that Andrew realized in a timely manor. Although we had an issue with Tri-state, it was resolved appropriately and the quality of the product and workmanship remains outstanding. I would definitely recommend this company and product to others who are interested and I would also use them again in the future.
