IRWIN'S SWIMMING POOLS & SPAS

My husband arranged to have Irwin Swimming Pools and Spas open our pool on Monday, 6/9/14. We had used them last season, and we thought all had gone well. No one showed up on the 9th to open the pool, and no one called to tell us they were not coming. When I called them the next morning, I was told by a very snippy woman that they were behind because of the rain we had had the previous day and that they could not get to us now until Friday, 6/13/14. I called them Friday morning to confirm that they were coming, and to notify them that the pool had turned green, as it had been partially uncovered for about a week. She told me we were "on the schedule for today," again with a very snippy tone. I said great and told her the check was on the door. Friday came and went, and no one from Irwin Pools showed up or called with an explanation as to why they weren't coming. My husband left them a message Friday night telling them how unprofessional he found their company and that if the pool wasn't opened by Monday, June 16th, we were no longer doing business with them. Needless to say, no one called us back, and no one showed up to open our pool. When the new company, TLC Pools from Miller Place, came to open our pool later that week, Jason, the owner, advised me that "whoever" had winterized my pool had done it wrong. Irwin should have used the usual cylinders with liquid to keep the skimmers from freezing, but instead, they plugged the line and dropped an unlabeled gallon jug with some kind of pink fluid into the skimmer. It looked like anti-freeze for a car to me. Also, the plug they used was too big, is now I have NEVER written a negative review about a company before, but I feel I have to warn other would-be Irwin customers to avoid them. Their lack of professionalism and downright obnoxious behavior is unacceptable. If they treat their other customers the way they treated us, I can't imagine them staying in business much longer. Lastly, the fee listed above is a bit high, as it included an unpaid balance for cleaning our filter cartridges at the end of last season. To my knowledge, they never send an invoice, but we were happy to pay for services rendered. stuck.
