John Byrnes, who runs the company, did a fantastic job.  His price was the lowest and yet his quality fantastic.  Not only was everything built to code as we requested, but he did so in a way that enhanced the deck's beauty.  He also added details at no extra cost that further enhanced the deck's look.  I am quite picky about such things - no frills or artifice for me - but his taste pleasantly matched mine.
With regard to quality, my husband is a contractor and so knows well the quality of work he sees.  He was completely happy with John's work.
Now we let our 1 year-old on the deck all he likes, sometimes even without our full supervision. It's that safe.
John was professional, nice, a clear communicator and speedy. We would definitely recommend him.

This was one of the best experiences that I have had on any home improvement project that involved an outside contractor. John was profesional from start to finish. I was impressed with his attention to detail and the pride that he took in his work. In short, he gave me a reasonable quote; showed up on time, performed the service in a manner that exceeded my expectations and finished the job faster than I expected. He worked neatly and cleaned up well after the job, he held to his original quoted price without any surprises and the job came out perfect. In addition he is a nice guy and a pleasure to deal with. I would highly recommend his services to any of my friends, familly or neighbors and would use him again for a project in the future.

From our first phone call to all the finishing touches and everything in between, John was amazing.  He showed up when he said he would, he returned phone calls and texts promptly and worked efficiently, even in the rain to get the job done.  He did a beautiful  job on our porch and made sure we were happy with his workmanship every step of the way.  People with John's work ethic are hard to come by.  I would HIGHLY recommend him without any hesitation.

John's workmanship was outstanding, as was his communications, estimate, and materials.  He gave us an estimate $500 lower than another contractor we found on Angie's List, and stuck to his price. 

John did exactly what we asked when we asked for it.  He said he could do the job in 2 days, and that's exactly how long it took.  He also did all the work himself, which I believe is critical for success.  We did not want the work farmed out to someone who may not be able to speak English or did not appreciate doing the work correctly.

I would not hesitate to use him again or to recommend him to others.  In fact, other homeowners in our area who need the same repair for the same reason have already spoken to him for estimates.  Hopefully, they will also use John, as they will not be disappointed.

I have had several contractors in my home over the past year and I have never felt so compelled to post a comment as I do now. John Byrnes of Distinctive Decks, designed and built a custom Azek composite deck for me. John was very reliable, always arriving at the time he stated he would. He completed the job within a week as he said he would. He was extremely courteous and pleasant to deal with. He was fair and honest with his pricing, taking the time to explain in detail all costs. He was an excellent listener, very flexible, and patient as I thought of changes after the project began to which he was very accommodating. He actually did MORE than what I expected. I am thrilled with my new deck. It is quite beautiful and the whole process of building it was a pleasure. I would definitely recommend him to others and I would absolutely use him again.

I contacted Distinctive Decks. John the owner returned my call. When he arrived, he was very professional. He listened to my requests and offered ideas without being pushing or overselling me things I didn't need. He was very transparent with his costs and took the time to explain the deck building process. He later called back with an estimate as promised and I was pleased with the price. Once the work began the overall experience was great. He was thorough and patient. I ended up making some last minute changes and he was very accommodating. He finished his work ahead of schedule which was a nice ending to an already pleasant experience. I would definitely use John again as well as recommend him to others. 

He was honest and reasonable. I got several prices and his was excellent. He was great all around. I would use him again in a heart beat.
