The cabinet finish was not anywhere near the color I ordered. I ordered a maple wood, something that takes stain really well. And the finish came out completely different and ugly. They don't care about follow up work. I have even contacted their in house repair service, which is what they said I had to do. They don't even respond, not even to two certified letters. I would not use them and I would warn others about them.

Response from CONSUMERS KITCHEN & BATH
Consumers Warehouse Center, Inc. is unable to give the customer there stated resolution based on the following facts: The manufacturers' rep has been to the cardholder's house to inspect the products received and the items received are within the manufacturers spec. The cardholder has received replacement items for any door or drawer front that is not within the spec. The cardholder feels that the replacements are not correct. The cardholder is comparing what she received to samples at a different store, Lowes and is saying that the sample at Lowes is different than what she received. The replacement doors that are the issue were brought back to the store and compared to the display in the actual store the cardholder purchased the items from, Consumers Warehouse, and they match. I am not sure what she is looking at in the other store, nor do I know what the employees at the other store are telling the cardholder, nor do I know that the cardholder is comparing the same items, the items are for 2 different stores. The cardholder bought the item in the Consumers store and the items she received match the items on display at Consumers. The cardholder also has the same cabinets in other rooms in the house that are OK, and the manufacturers' rep stated that they are the same. It could be that the lighting is different in the other room and this room the color looks slightly different. Additionally we ordered 2 fillers and 2 pieces of toe kick at no charge. The cardholder took the toe kicks but decided they needed molding instead. The molding is not part of the original order and was never paid for or ordered by the cardholder. If needed we have photos of the replacements sent to cardholder next to the displays in the showroom and pictures of the replacements next to the cabinets received and they all match. Please advise how to send color pictures to show detail. Not sure why customer believes that they are due a refund for sales tax. The promotion is that Consumers pays the sales tax, but in accordance with NYS sales tax law, sales tax must be shown on the receipt. The customer is given a project total and the end cost with tax agrees to the project total, the tax is backed out of the project total. For example, the cabinets cost $7,000, usually the total is $7,603.75 with tax, but during the no tax promotions the project total is adjusted to $6,444.18 and the total with tax is $7,000.00, the tax rate here is 8.625%. This was explained to customer when the sales contact was signed which clearly stated the totals before and after tax. Also see attached signed order forms that detail that the finish on the tops were ordered as Standard Gloss finish, the finish is indicated on both pages of the signed form and on the original and on the signed revision. See attached. I can not compensate or fix any problems that Consumers is not responsible for, and we have fulfilled our obligation under the sales contact without fault.

Right after the storm I went to Consumer Kitchen and Bath to pick out replacement cabinets for my house. I ordered white bead board cabinets and was asked if I wanted a cocoa glaze applied to tone down the dove white. I told the salesman several times that I only wanted the glaze if it tempered the color and did not give a striped appearance. I was assured by the salesman that it would not, the glaze would be applied and wiped out. When the cabinets arrived and were installed, the quality was unacceptable. The cabinets were striped with a mud colored sloppy glaze. They wiped the glaze, right into the crevices that I was assured would not happen. The glaze is also totally inconsistent from cabinet to cabinet. The molding and cabinet rails are also a shade darker than the cabinets. I hated the kitchen on sight and immediately contacted the company. I called the customer service number and wrote a letter to the owner of Consumer Kitchen and Bath. I was immediately contacted by Phil Peluso the head of sales. He was a nice man but had to report to the board of directors, and had no real say in the solution to the problem. A representative from the cabinet maker, was sent, who admitted that some(I say all) of the cabinets were poor quality. He would take one or two of the cabinet doors and glaze them again. If they came out better he would continue to take the rest of the doors, and this would take several weeks to complete. Not a solution when the stripes would remain. Consumer Kitchen and Bath did offer to replace the doors and draws with dove white ones at a discounted price!! The salesman, Brian, messed up the order, and the company wants me to pay for it. I have had many family and friends, as well as workman in my house since my cabinets were installed, and the majority agree that this is a subpar kitchen. I can't believe how many people I have told about my cabinets that know someone, or they themselves have had negative experiences with Consumer Kitchen and Bath. This includes an ex employee who told my contractor that I would not get satisfaction from the company because they have a terrible customer service record and will do nothing. I reported C onsumer Kitchens and Baths to the Better Business Bureau and the Consumer Affairs Department of NY and Nassau County. I don't understand how a company with such a poor reputation stays in business. The rating on Angie's list is a D, that should show people to stay away. I will never recommend them to anyone looking to redo a kitchen and I will inform them of their horrendous customer service.

Response from CONSUMERS KITCHEN & BATH
The issue with the member has been addressed with the local chapter of the BBB and they have closed the case in our favor. See below the responses that we supplied to the BBB. Our response is the same for your organization. Original Complaint 01/23/2013 I was sold kitchen cabinets from a salesman at the East Meadow Location of Kitchen Consumers and Baths. I ordered white cabinets, with a bead board style , the salesman suggested a cocoa glaze on the cabinets. I told him as long as the glaze did not gather in the beaded area it would be OK. When the cabinets arrived, that is the only area where the glaze is on the cabinets. I have contacted the salesman,Brian Charon, the owner of the company, via US mail, James Caloga Sr., the head of the sales department,Phil Peluso, as well as the Kraftmaid service rep, John. Not only did the cabinets come in with the glaze in the wrong spot, it was done very sloppily. The salesman did not deliver what I ordered, and the company will not correct the problem., Consumers Response on 01/24/2013 Per discussion with the salesperson, Brian Charron, the customer was given an option of numerous color choices and Dove white with cocoa glaze was selected by the customer. The customer was never told by the salesperson that the glaze would not be in the beaded area. The beaded area has glaze in either side of the bead, the raised part of the bead should contain little to no glaze. The Kraftmaid customer service rep visited the house to inspect the cabinets. Based upon his inspection, a few doors were not done in accordance to the manufactures specifications, and stated that replacements would be sent. The customer did not want any replacements. The customer was delivered what was ordered and the only items to be corrected is the few (2-4 doors) replacements that the customer did not want. Customer Rebuttal on 01/29/2013 The response from the business is not accurate. The customer chose the dove white cabinets with cocoa glaze because the salesman, Brian Charron, told the customer that the glaze would be wiped out and not settle in the beaded area therefore causing brown lines in the cabinets. The salesman was told at time of purchase that if the glazing process would produce that effect, it wasn't wanted. He assured the customer it would not. In reference to the Kraftmaid service representative that was sent to the house, he is misrepresenting what the cabinets look like. There are more than 2-4 doors that are affected. Not only are most of the doors poorly done, the crown molding does not match the cabinets. It is a shade darker. The rep explained that is because a non sanded wood was used for the molding. This also, was not explained by the Consumer Kitchens and Bath salesman. The offer for door replacement of 2 doors does not solve the problem of misrepresentation of the final look of the door explained at the time of purchase. The solution is replacement of all doors and molding in dove white without the cocoa glaze. Consumers Response on 02/12/2013 As per discussion with the salesperson, the customer was told that the glaze is applied as a flood coat to the doors and drawer fronts and the glaze is hand wiped off and it will hang up in any low/recessed points of the door or drawer front. Additionally the customer decided to change the drawer fronts to a slab so they would not have any hang up of glaze in the low/recessed areas. As per discussion with Kraftmaid rep it was explained to the customer that there is more area for glaze hang up on the molding than on a door. The molding is a milled and very detailed product. Although the molding is not sanded, it is a finished product. The color variation that the customer sees between the molding and the doors, is not because the molding is not sanded, it’s because there is more glaze hang up on the molding. All the doors and molding are within manufacturers specs (with exception to the items that the rep was going to replace). The customer ordered items that gets glazed and the items ordered have a lot of detail, that the glaze gets hung up on. The manufacturer and Consumers has delivered what was ordered by the customer.

We ordered everything on January 12th after storm Sandy destroyed everything in our home. Consumers said it would take 6-8 weeks for the cabinets. The bathroom vanity was an in stock item and someone will call me to set up a delivery date. Four weeks later no one called me! I called to check on the vanity and then they said only the bathroom cabinet was in stock and not the granite top (but still no one called me). Then I get a call for the delivery of the cabinet and they tell you when it's coming. I said I work during that time and their response was I'd have to pay an extra delivery fee for rescheduling! So of course I made a phone call and fixed that. When the delivery came they drop it off the truck and try to say it was ok but I made them check the vanity and it was broken. So they took it back and gave me a new one. My vanity top has yet to come. It's May 30th and was promised to me by May 22nd no later. So my cabinets were suppose to come in March. No one ever called me to say the cabinets are on back order. Every time I called they just yes me to death with no apologies or accommodations for my troubles. My cabinets did not come until May! With this my contractor said the finishing kit was missing. So I called consumers and they said they would order me one. After a week and a half no kit. I called again so they reordered me a kit. Still no finishing kit! Really?!? Now the granite is another problem. You must view the granite by appointment only. The appointment times are 9-4 M-F and some Saturdays. These times are not good if you work. So we set up a Saturday to view the granite. Then they call us to tell us they ran out of granite! So we had to schedule another saturday which was a month after our original date! No apologies or accommodations for our troubles. Then we go to view the granite at 9:00 which was our appointment and no one was there. Someone finally let us in and we sat in a dark showroom for a 1/2 hour until someone came and turned on the lights and showed us granite, which took all of 1/2 hour. The measuring guy for the granite was 1 1/2 hours late. The next available install date is June 15th. So thanks to Consumers I am without a bathroom sink and kitchen sink! I still did not receive the vanity top or finishing kit. They call themselves CONSUMERS but do not treat their consumers with any respect. This company has delayed the rebuilding of my home and has made brushing your teeth and cleaning a pot impossible because I have no sink! Guess what they don't care!!!!!!

In August, I went to the East Meadow store and ordered the vanity, sink, and countertop. The vanity and sink were in stock and were delivered almost immediately. I was told that the countertop would take approximately 2 weeks. The following week I got a call that I needed to come in and approve a drawing of the countertop. Apparently, that should have been done on the day of the order, but I was willing to overlook that--mistakes happen. I called to check on my order a week or 2 later and was told that they left the delivery charges off the order so it had never been processed. I had to approve a new "change in order" request and it would be another 2 weeks. I called 2 weeks later and found out that my saleswoman had been transferred to the Copaigue store, and apparently I needed to call her there. I did and she did not return my calls. I finally got someone on the phone who told me that I needed to call the company that actually fabricates the countertop (odd?). That was on September 25th. That office told me that the material for the countertop was backordered until mid-October. Mind you, I initiated all these calls--no one called me to apprise me of the status of my order. At this point, my bathroom remodel was already underway, and my contractor informed me that I would need to pay to have the plumber come back to install the sink if the counter wasn't ready while he was here to do the other work. I sent registered letters to my saleswoman at the Copaigue store and to the manager at the original East Meadow store. Finally someone contacted me. I ended up dealing with the manager of the Copaigue store, who negotiated with me. I was tempted to cancel my order and even contacted other suppliers of Cambria (the countertop material). I heard from other suppliers that Cambria does tend to be backordered. If Consumers told me that at the beginning and kept me updated on the status of my order I would have understood the delay. Communication is key and that is where Consumers fell short. However, I felt I had to let my order go through at that point. The manager ended up giving me a discount (although not as much as I thought I deserved) and in the end I think he understood all the mistakes that happened with my order. I ended up getting my countertop in Mid October--2 months later than my original order. To put the icing on the cake, my contractor told me that the sink did not come with the proper screws for installation. I actually like my countertop, and the vanity is nice as well, but what I went through with Consumers was frustrating and unprofessional. If you want a Cambria quartz countertop I suggest ordering elsewhere.

I went to Consumers to find cabinets to be used in my kitchen remodel. I was looking for cabinets that would go with existing cabinets that I was not replacing. I found what was an excellent match to my existing cabinets in honey oak and discussed them with a salesman at the Copaigue store. I copied all the information that pertained to the cabinets I chose. The salesman asked if I wanted to place an order but I told him that I was working with a contractor and would give the brand, style and color information to him. He never told me that the cabinets were discontinued--there was no sign on the display saying that this cabinet style was no longer available.I gave the information to my contractor who then went to the East Meadow store where he had an account and spoke with his contact salesperson, Kevin. It was at that time that my contractor was told that the cabinets I had chosen had been discontinued. My contractor had a sample of my existing cabinets and matched them to another display that was on the floor. Knowing the situation I had had with not being told that the ones I had chosen were discontinued my contractor got an assurance from the salesman that the ones he was now picking out were in production in the color and style I wanted. On May 21st, three days after my kitchen renno began and the kitchen has been torn apart the new Consumers cabinets were delivered. As soon as I opened the first box and had the base cabinet removed from the box I saw that the wrong cabinets had been sent. The style was completely wrong. My contractor immediately called his sales contact at the East Meadow store and was told that the style he ordered was discontinued and what was sent to me was the replacement style. Much arguing went on and it was decided that the bases would be put in since the countertop was due later in the day, and that a correction would be made. For 2 months a battle went on with Consumers during which nothing was done. The salesman did nothing, his boss, the East Meadow store manager did nothing and finally my contractor got in touch with a Consumers district manager. We were both assured that a special order would be made and that my original design pick would be made and delivered to me in 2 weeks. (Something I found hard to believe because my original order took 3 to 5 weeks to get done)Finally on July 11th, a shipment of drawer fronts were delivered to my home. The Consumers idea of correcting an error made to honey oak cabinets was to send me a supply of red maple cabinet drawer fronts!! Once again my contractor called Consumers and spoke to the district manager. And again after much back and forth a new delivery date was given for the correct drawer fronts. That day--- August 2nd, came and went and nothing arrived however on Friday, Aug 3rd, I recieved a phone call from Phil Peluso, the district manager telling me that someone got the date wrong!! He more or less tried to make it seem that my contractor misunderstood, which I knew was not the case. I demanded my money back but was told , "Let's not go there when we are so close to closure"This morning new drawer fronts were brought to my home but I did not accept delivery. First, they wanted to charge me an additional $438.00 for the easy glides that were ordered in March but which they never included in any of the cabinets they delivered to me.Second, the drawer fronts had unnaturally dark streaks in the honey wood that it made them looked as if someone had streaked them with mahogany stain. My contractor is once again on the phone with Mr. Peluso trying to get drawer fronts that do not look as if they have been damaged.Consumers will not refund my money so I must wait again for resolution to this problem.
Description of Work: An order for cabinets was given to Consumer Kitchen and Baths but on two occasions the wrong cabinets were delivered. When the right cabinets were finally delivered they were damaged.

Poor customer service. They came to our home to measure but the cabinets were still the wrong size and do not go all the way to the ceiling as ordered. After 10+calls in one day finally spoke to manager with bad attitude (jeff?). Was told thy would order an extra piece of molding to stack on top of the molding we already have to make 2 pieces reach the top. I was then told this is the standard of how they do things and it will take 3 weeks to get the piece. No answer to question if this is the standard how come i need to wait 3 weeks. was also told when I commented at all the calls i made and no answers on the phone that if they had bad customer service they wouldnt be in business so long. Cant wait for this project to be over will never use them again!! Also my contractor who has been in business for over 30 yrs commented he always has problems with them. additional problem even though they measured for it my new wall oven does not fit in designated space will have to cut into cabinets. Update 12/22 Called about status of "extra piece" for the past 3 days since its been over a month and I was told 3 weeks. After several UN-returned phone calls found out they forgot to order it. They placed order today and will "try" to have it rushed that maybe I can have it in 3 weeks.. Update 1/19/12 Still do not have all the promised pieces to complete my Kitchen.
