"Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I am sorry that we could not assist you with your project and for the misunderstanding. Our estimates are free unless it is for insurance purposes and we actually have specific reasons why. We obviously did not do a good enough job of explaining that to you. There is only a charge for line-item breakdowns specifically required by many insurance companies. That charge is applied to allocate for the resources and time to complete paperwork required by the insurance companies. The amount charged is credited toward the price of a project if the client decides to go forward with the project using Alure. This also protects us from scenarios where someone is instructed to get a quote from Alure, get approval for a certain amount, and then find a different contractor to do the same job for less money. We do apologize it took us so long to connect with you. We do try to contact anyone interested in an appointment within 3 days following a show or event, and apparently we dropped the ball on that. While we certainly understand your frustration about the wait time for an appointment once we connected, we like to think that our current back-up is a result of our long standing reputation for quality work and delivering exceptional customer service since 1946. While of course we’d love to help everyone and wish we had the capacity to assist everyone immediately, we certainly understand that not everyone can wait based on their individual circumstances. We apologize for the inconvenience and for not properly communicating this to you, and wish you the best of luck with your project. We appreciate the feedback and will use this information to see if we can find a way to meet consumers’ needs more effectively."
We also had obtained a quote on a bathroom addition at the same time and the salesperson for that job was inaccurate in her pricing and not very responsive.
Overall we were extremely pleased with the siding job and would use Alure again.
"We are glad to hear that you are happy with your siding project. We hope you enjoy it for years to come! If you would like to revisit the bathroom addition, we could send out a different salesperson to help you and give you some different options. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance."

We would never turn away a customer, no matter how big or small the job might be and I am very sorry for any miscommunication that has arose. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and I look forward to resolving this. - Lindsey Wolkoff"

"Hi Member- We apologize that we fell short of meeting your expectations on this project. It is our understanding that final inspection is on Thursday April 25th and things from our perspective should finally be wrapped up. We will continue to work with your air conditioning company to assist with getting that issue resolved. We are sincerely sorry for the struggles you encountered."
"We are sorry that there seems to be so much confusion and respect your wishes to move on. We have a slightly different account of how things went and we will just agree to disagree on this. Our records indicate your deposit was returned on 1/31/13. If you have not received the refund please feel free to reach out to us at 516-296-7777 to discuss so we can be sure your deposit is returned. We apologize that things didn't work out."
The design process--We had three budget levels for materials--tile, flooring, fixtures, lighting, countertop, shower doors, cabinetry, etc--to chose from, and many choices within each level. We loved the choices, except for the lighting fixture, so I bought my own and they installed it without question.
The work process--The supervisor made his presence known throughout the week (dropping in/checking in) and beyond and was readily available to us and his three-man team via cell. They were hard working, showed up as promised, worked steady throughout the day, communicated clearly and politely, and respected us and our home during the process. Considering we have a one-bathroom home, they also planned the teardown and renovation so we could have use of the facilities for as long as possible.
The troubleshooting--* The team hit an unexpected snag in repositioning of the toilet/sink, consulted with the supervisor, and came up with a rerouting solution that was still to code and true to the promised design. When I first heard this, we thought they'd be asking us for more money, but they said there would be no additional charge to us, just another 1/2 day longer than they anticipated. * They had to come back for some recorking, which they warned me might happen due settling/drying. * The countertop arrived cracked, but they reordered and it arrived with plenty of time to be installed before the project was done. * They payed for a carpet repair/treatment due to some spot damage caused. * Long after the work was done, I accidentally broke one of the glass shelves in the medicine cabinet and contacted them to see where I could buy a replacement. They replaced it free of charge and even came, installed it, and tweaked other items while they were here.
Only lingering complaint--The wood of bathroom door is of less quality than I'd prefer.
On another note--After Hurricane Sandy--despite the fact that they redid our roof more than a decade ago, they came and replaced roof tiles without question or charge!!!
"Thank you for your kind words. We are glad everything is to your satisfaction in your bathroom remodel, as well as the other projects you did. When you do work with Alure, you are a customer for life. We hope you enjoy your mini spa for years to come! Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you need anything."
Room addition was more involved and was delayed due to existing room slab found to be domed after the new room slab was poured. Had to remove and pour new slab for the existing room (den) at my cost.
During room construction, storm tore the tarp off the frame and exposed the interior of the house. When we called - a complete crew was onsite in less than 20 minutes at 4:30 a.m. and replaced the tarp. Customer service is where they generally excel.
Quality work crews did my job. Changes were often made and the cost was reasonable. All the workers were polite and professional.
The room came out fantastic.
Had two different electrician companies on the job. I preferred Nassau Suffolk. No issues. Good communication.
Other company used by Alure made some wiring mistakes when they separately changed my electric service (outside the Alure contract).
Bottom line - you pay more with Alure, but they are responsive and will come back to fix anything that is an issue. Example: One of the windows lost its vacuum. They sent someone over - ordered a new window insert and installed it when it was done (custom sized).
I would use them again because they are responsive. One pet peeve is that they sometimes order extra material to ensure they can do the job, but you never get credit for the unused material.
"Hi Member- Hope you are enjoying your home improvements. We are glad to hear that you are very happy with the work that was done. We hope you enjoy your renovations for many years to come!"
"Hi Customer- Thank you for your kind words. Teressa said it was wonderful working with you! Please let us know if there is anything that still needs to be resolved. Hope your enjoying your new kitchen."
Overall, they did what they promised to do at what I think was probably a fair price, at least if you're willing to pay more than the minimum to get it done quickly. There's clearly less variety in the materials one has available, and I was worried that my finished bathroom would look like every other one they do. But they had some additional tiles and quot;down in the basementand quot; that were quite unique, I thought, and that made the difference for me. I'm very pleased with the final result.
I have used Alure in the past and continue to return to them. Though they are more expensive, I have found the work they do and their staff are excellent. Unlike other companies, they have always returned to fix any problems that develop.
I would (and have) recommended them to family and friends.
