Jordan Construction

We contracted with the pool company back in June and they assigned Paul Jordan to do the installation. Mr. Jordan does pools for many different companies and initially inspired confidence with his years of experience. Unfortunately, those years didn't seem to teach him decent business practices. We were assured that the pool installation would take 2 days. It took 4 days, with my wife and I taking off time from work to assure the job was done properly. We were told they would allow 2-3 weeks for the ground to settle and come back to pour the concrete. We had to call them after 3 weeks, which prompted them to come the following week. During the whole process, we only saw Mr. Jordan at the site 3 times - the first consult visit, the first day they broke ground (which he himself ran over my patio with the back hoe causing damage to it. later, he wouldn't admit to it and tried to brush it off in a phone conversation), and the consult for the concrete. Otherwise, it was all on the phone. His crew was friendly, but not very good at the business end. There was little communication as to the process and we were left in the dark as to the next steps on many occasions. At Mr. Jordan's suggestion, we paid extra to tie in our gutter downspouts and sump pump drain line in with the waste water line from the pool. what we found out later was that the pressure from back washing the pool filter caused all the water to run out of the gutter downspouts and drainage strip on the concrete. I ultimately had to disconnect the waste water line from the drain system and run a separate line myself. We also found out that they had crushed our sump pump line, breaking it in two places where it exited the house which I had to fix myself. We agreed to an extra concrete pad around the head of the pool. His initial estimate - made by him pacing out the area with his feet - was $1200 to $1500, claiming $5 a sq.ft. over what we already paid for with the pool. We added 48sqft to the stake out and told the crew when they arrived. When we got the bill, it was for $3300. There was gross errors in the estimate, yet Mr. Jordan never talked to us directly - using his crew to deal with the issue. he had them measure the pad on 2 occasions, and would only talk to us when his crew would call him and put us on the phone. Overall, the job was average at best. the edges of the concrete were not finished. The liner has creases in it. The drainage system was a total failure causing me to have to do the job myself. They did damage to our patio and sump pump line causing me to do the repairs. The job site was trashed with bottles, food containers, and cigarette buts everywhere. They took roughly 40ft of hose (worth $200) that was given to us by the pool company. They left the pool horribly filthy when the job was completed. And ultimately Mr. Jordan tried to over charge me $1000.
