Suffice it to say we won't ever ever call them again and most certainly will not refer to family and friends.. Original price was $5,898, but they did refund $1,000 after complaint. Most certainly not enough. Draw your own conclusions.

Citywide was recommended by Eddie at Econo-Sewer. Although they did similar work, when I mentioned possible drainage well issues, he gave me an option to consider Citywide.
After contacting them, the came as promised based on my availability the next morning. For a reasonable charge, he repaired a long line (75 ft plus) that lead from the back of my home to the street which was unknown to me. He spent considerable time and effort to diagnose and correct a long running issue at the home. This issue created major water to reside against the home for year causing it to settle and leak slightly into basement. Needless to say, it's all fixed!
In inquired with workman what would happen if he didn't fix it ? He said, and quot;they always doand quot;. He said if he cannot fix it, another Sr member will come to assist. If both of them can't fix, then the owner/head guys will come and ensure its fixed. What a great mindset.
No more roto-roter or any of those mainstream services for me. Call Citywide or Eddie at Econo-Sewer for those of you in the 5 boroughs or nassau.

I contacted my plumber about a back up and he said that he could handle it, but when he found that he could not, he made arranged for City Wide to come. They arrived in about an hour.. The man was polite and everything was clean when he left.

My experiences with them had always been very positive. I have used them maybe 10 times now for a variety of projects. They will come anytime, the vast majority of people they send are great, and they do the work.

They showed up on time, and were finished in one day early enough for me to have dinner. They were very neat in the house - every time they walked into the house, they put booties on over their work boots so they wouldn't track dirt through the house. I didn't have to clean up at all inside.
When I was getting estimates, every one I got an estimate from said it was probable I'd lose my front porch and walk. The sewer line leaves the house only a few inches away from the porch, meaning they would have to dig right up against the porch and walk. I fully expected to lose both. As it turned out, the pipe was so close to the porch that it was completely underneath the footing. The crew managed to get the hole dug, line replaced, and filled in without disturbing the porch or walk at all. Watching the guy running excavator was almost like watching a surgeon work.
They had to remove part of the sidewalk to do the job. They cut it down into sections with a gas powered masonry saw, then carefully lifted out the sections. When they were done, they placed them all back and leveled them. You can tell the sidewalk was disturbed from where it was originally, but it's perfectly workable and safe until I can get it re-done. It needed to be re-done anyway, but at least now it's not a rush to get it done before someone falls.
There was yard work to be done afterward, which I expected. If they were landscapers, I wouldn't have hired them to fix my plumbing. I have a sprinkler system, which needed to be reconnected where they had to cut the lines that crossed the trench. The ground is so rocky here, it seems like whenever you dig, the rocks work their way to the top, so I had to rake out the big rocks at the surface and lay down some topsoil to get it ready for grass. Considering how much of the yard had to be dug up, it was less work than I expected would have to be done, and since they saved the porch and walk, it was significantly less than I expected. I would hire them again without hesitation.

i called 4 companies to get estimates. i chose citywide because of the price and helpfulness of the general manager i dealt with. they don't do grass re-install but my area was small so it was not a deal breaker for me. fred said he could do the work with one day's notice and could get the permit right away because they do so much work on long island. that is a fact!
the guys came on time, were very pleasant, excavation went well and they cut up the dead tree stump by the sewer line and installed the new one. i then asked them to remove two small but tall trees from the front of my house (fred didn't charge for this). they cut up in pieces for me.
today, 2/11/13, after the snowstorm, i noticed what i thought was a leak in the u-shaped sewer trap. i called fred and he had me call the office and a serviceman was there within 40 minutes. he identified that the leak was coming through the foundation opening by the line from all the snow melting and the rain, nothing wrong with the pipe itself. whew, saved again. fred did not charge for this call.
i definitely recommend them!

Pros : Clean, Courteous, Timely, Upfront about Charges.
Cons : Overpriced, Misleading Guarantees, No Commitment to their Work.
I hired City-Wide because they are used by a variety of large organizations here on Long Island, and felt confident they were better than your average discount plumber. Any quality establishment would make good on their previous errors and wasting of my time - I will not use them again.

Everything went fine. Showed up within an hour of me calling, very clean and professional. Price was a bit high (275 at first, got a discount through a coupon for 200). However, from what I hear Rotorooter is even worse (4-500). For the price, I might just buy the machine at home depot for 300 and do it myself should I have a problem again.

The men came and tried to locate the septic tanks. Unable to locate them, they suggested that I pay to have a camera locate them. I said okay and then I received an estimate from Wayne that was very disturbing. I called the building inspector in my village and he arrived at my door in less than 8 minutes with the plans that were filed with the Village, which is required of each home. I received repeated emails from Wayne requesting that I sign and send back the proposal. I sent and email to Wayne asking why he did not tell me that the plans were filed in the Village Hall. He blamed it on my housekeeper. I am very well known in the community and plan to share this experience with all of my neighbors. This stupidity could be very costly for Citywide.

They told us that we needed to replace the entire shower body. He then said he had to order the part and we had to give a deposit. When the next service worker came in to do the install, he advised us that we didn't need the shower body. He said that the repair was beyond the scope of what he could do and that we needed a contractor who could cut through the marble and look into what exactly is the problem. They left without fixing it, but they did mail us back our deposit.

They were okay, the installed an additional run over overflow cess pool in my back yard. The damage to the landscaping was certainly there but minimal. The pool has worked as it was meant to work.

Overall we were very satisfied with the service we received from City Wide and each and every worker that was involved in this job. When you are faced with an emergency in your home, you need a company who is going to respond quickly, assess the situation accurately and realistically (even if it involves a bit more money than you would have thought), skilled people who exhibit quality work from start to finish and have pleasant personalities while doing all of this!
Basically, we woke up to a major leak in our livingroom ceiling which City Wide promptly diagnosed what the problem was. It stemmed from the shower body in an upstairs bathroom. The pressure from the water in the ceiling caused it to collapse and flooded our carpets. Within the following days, all of the workers each did their part, from the initial visit to the restoration process to full repairs, including a thorough clean-up! We were very impressed with the professionalism and quality of work throughout. We ended up having to spend more than we thought initially, but we definitely feel we got our money's worth!
The end result is that you would never know we had a hole in the shower wall and even more so, that there was ever a giant gaping hole in our livingroom ceiling! They're that good!

I wanted them to fix the extra drain that goes into the driveway to make sure that there is no flooding around the house. This goes into a dry well. It was not draining properly and I wanted them fix that. It ended up that the way the things were turning up they could not tell me thing. They still billed me for the services. I was no better off and I had no idea what else was going on. This is not the first time I was using them. The previous owner of this house has used them and I must have used them five times for interior issues. The work was fine. The problem was like any Rotor-Rootor. Company. They come in and they say the will snake your drains but you have no idea on what else might be going on. They seem to give you a hard sell, although for all the other companies in this area they seem to have one of the better prices. So you don't know what else to do but call them. I was not happy with them. The last time they were here they gave an estimate. But I did not use them. They were here six months ago for the shower drains. The shower on the second floor was not draining properly and I tried to put some chemical down and nothing happened and it completely stopped. So I called them to find out as I was not sure what else to do. They came here and gave an estimate for $250 and they could not see that there was any problem with the price and most likely it was symptomatic of a larger problem. So it would end costing more than that and that it was an old house etc, etc and he tried to scare me a little bit, I am not sure, it could have been my mood that day. I did not take up on the estimate though it was a free one and I send him home. I called another friend of mine who works as plumber who said that would just snake the drain and see if the trap was clogged and they had not tried that. So I bought $13 snake and I fixed it myself. He is telling that it starts at $250 and probably $350 and more and it cost me $13. I have not had them back since. But I do know that their prices are still better than the companies in this area if you want something done and all give you the same run around. That is what they all do. They try to scare you and they try top sell you on something else. Always get the estimate. It is free. Don't be afraid to get a second opinion. I guess not many people send them away. He seemed surprised when I send him away. He was responsive but he did not give the right answer. They are prompt but he correctly did not evaluate the situation. I guess I would use them for a different kind of problem but not for the shower.

The fellow who came to do the drains was very professional and courteous. I think Bob? He gave me an estimate of 149.95 to clear the drain. (the balance of the bill was the plumbing work) He was clean. He put down drop cloths to work in the bathroom and wiped down when he was finished. Called in a plumber to get that going when I expressed I wanted one. Looked at what needed to be done with the plumber and told me what he thought was going to be done and that the plumber can give me a free estimate and start when he arrived or I could make an appoinment for another day at my convenience. The plumber came and everything he said could possibly happen or needed to be done jibed with what my husband explained to me the previous day. Gary, the plumber, was very professional, thorough, knew what he was doing. He worked really hard and did not get discouraged or unprofessional when a snafu came up and he just kept working until he couldn't get any parts because the stores were closed. If he didn't have the dentist appt. I'm sure he would have come back first thing. In the afternoon he came back and installed and replaced everything that was explained in the above box. Hadn't had a plumber that I was happy with before so always skeptical when trying someone new. I would recommend this company, drain man and plumber to all my friends and relatives and of course Angies List members!
